Great video except one thing- the screws provided in Trex Enhance rail kits are NOT stainless steel as stated.

The biggest issue I’ve had is leaving enough space on each end of the railing to accommodate for the brackets. You literally have to space your 4x4 posts specifically to make that work. But since 4x4 posts are installed long before the railing, the average person doesn’t know to accommodate for that, or even what spacing to use until you get the railing started. I got lucky on my deck railing but got completely screwed on the stair railing. No matter what I do I can’t get above 1 5/8” spacing.

Any suggestion about how to install the rail in an angle section?

Thanks for the video. How far apart are your posts? I have a 16 x 30 deck with railings on front and one side. Was planning on using the 6' kits. Would you do 6' on centers for the 4x4's or better with 5' something and cut to fit and then make up the difference where it meets the house? Being a 1/8 or 1/4" short between posts scares me. Easiest way would be to buy the 8' kit and cut that to fit but seems like a waste of money? Thoughts? Thanks.

Hi Steve, thank you for reaching out to us today! Great question, the Enhance kits are only produced in 6ft kits measured in a true span of 72". So if your posts measure less than 72" this will work for that span. If you have a larger span and are choosing the color Classic White, Trex Select railing is the exact same as Enhance White and those kits come in an 8ft length, but it is measured on-center so its actual length is 91.5'. We hope this helps and please give us a call at 800-289-8739 if you have any other questions. Have a great day! -Trex Customer Care

Why are the post sleeves loose when placed over the 4x4?
@TheTrexCo
@TheTrexCo 9 месяцев назад
Thank you for reaching out with your question. The post sleeves are loose on some 4x4 posts as 4x4s are nominal measurements, and they can have a slight expansion over time. This allows for the sleeve to easily slide over the post with no concern of cracking. This also helps the rails pull tighter against the posts when installing. Shims can be used to plumb post sleeves while installing. Please let us know if you have further questions, or you can call us directly at 1-800-289-8739

Hello craft man, thank you for reaching out to us. The posts on the stairs will need to be taller due to the slope and angle of the rail. There are a few taller post sleeve options for either 48" or 108". We would normally recommend marking and measuring where your brackets will sit on the post with your slope and angle of the rail first and then making sure to leave enough room for the post cap before cutting the sleeves down. The post cap will overlap the post and drop about 1 1/2" down the sleeve, so you will want to make sure it's not sitting on the top rail. Kindly, - Trex Customer Care Team

@@TheTrexCo I cut both stair post at 47" my riser on my stairs is 7" so the wood post above the tread is 40" and then I'll cut the vinyl post sleeve 4" above the top rail. Thank you for the video it helped out a lot,
