Working out in your backyard can be fun! Follow along as I take you behind the scenes of how I built my outdoor Calisthenics gym park that also functions as a Ninja Warrior Course and a Jungle Gym.
Within my backyard gym, you can do Pull ups, Push ups, and Dips on the bars. I also have built monkey bars into the setup as well. I have attached mountain climber grips, various ninja holds and a climbing rope to build up your upper body strength as well. Every want to try out the Salmon Ladder? well I have that too! There are even gymnastics rings and a play swing attached to the jungle gym. This project took about three weeks to build but it was well worth it!
COST BREAKDOWN

GRAND TOTAL FOR STRUCTURE - about $1,500

Did you consider 6x6x12 instead? Also, just like you cut grooves for the 10x12 planks, did you consider cutting grooves for the salmon ladder? Great build!
@VFit4life
@VFit4life Год назад
Thanks, yes, 6x6x12 would have been the ideal way to go. The only thing is that they cost so much more! However, the 4x6x12's have held up great over the past three years. No wobbly movement at all. The way I have it set up in a square pattern, the weight and load are distributed very well around the build. The salmon ladder came after I set up and erected everything, so it was easier to do it that way. They are bolted on very good, however.

@VFit4life
@VFit4life 4 месяца назад
The original bars were 10 feet long and threaded on the ends. I cut them down to the lengths I needed. Some bars ended up with one side threaded, and some ended up with no threads on either side. The flanges I used that the bars are inserted into have a hex nut screw that tightens down on the bar when tightened with an Allen wrench. They are very sturdy, and I can actually allow the bars to spin if I loosen the screw. No separation due to settlement. The Allen key allows me to tighten them if they ever get loose. I'll be posting a four year update on the setup soon. Take care!

Yes they will definitely work. Just don't have them go longer than five feet because you may run the risk of them bending over time depending on your weight. I was wondering about if you put footings down at the base of the holes first? Like a layer of cement at the bottom. And how didi you get the posts to be approximately the same hight? It would be difficult to get the holes precisely the same depth, right? I'd be tempted to get them close and then trim the tops of the posts after the fact but 4x6 would be tough to do accurately. However you did it, it worked extremely well. I'd settle for just a set of adult monkey-bars to begin with. Nice work on the project and the video!
