How to build a beer keg sink

For his weeks video I'm building two beer keg sinks for a client in Calgary. They happen to see my other RU-vid video where I made a beer keg sink for Moonie's Irish Pub in Sedona Arizona. This time around I built a jig so it was easier to mark out a straight cut line for the sink. And I was able to utilize my plasma machine for this particular build as well. Let me know what you think or if you have any suggestions on improving the process.

My dad has had one for 20 + years before they were popular, just cut it open, put hinges on the back , weld a simple iron handle, weld an old barbecue grill rack cut to size on both sides for prepping area by welding nuts to hold them, a pipe at bottom, and an old rim from a truck or car, weld that too, still going strong and he doesn't want to give it to me lol, so I'm 39, I guess I'll build one, that's why I'm here, good video man.

I love working with beer kegs. there are so many cool projects that can be made with them. Sounds like your dads keg-a-que is something you'll keep in the family for a long time

Great build, I made a pair in the same manner recently. I ended up keeping what was left of the keg, that 3 inch centre and welding some shelves into it with a stainless back panel for some theme matching medicine shelves in the bathroom. They all work great with the keg urinal.

I'm actually trying to get the clients to send pictures of the installed sinks and I have a top mounted sink in an Irish pub in Sedona AZ, I'm heading up there soon and will get some pictures👍

Be careful those craigslist beer kegs most likely still belong to the brewery NOT the person selling it. That said, the cost of the keg is built into the deposit the bar pays so the brewery doesn't really care if they get it back as long as they get to keep the deposit.

Yeah I hear you, I've started getting them from a local distributor who has more empty kegs than they know what to do with. Many older ones just piled up taking up space.

Should get a Rotozip, bet that would just run right thru it. Or a diamond blade for grinder.

I’m just getting started with metal work, but was wondering if you could have cut the kegs with the plasma cutter? Thanks

Yes most definitely. I haven't taking the time to create a jig that would allow me to cut clean lines with the plasma, so for now I feel I have better control with the cut off wheels

I like what you do,...just a question : why not just use a laser level to mark the cut on the kegs?

zodrik good question😀 at the time I made the video, I didn't have a laser however I've bought one since then. Now I just need to get another order for a keg sink so I can try it out.
