How to Build a Block Wall with Cap 

This knowledge is EXACTLY what I needed to know today. I am designing a slope that is defined by a concrete block paver base. Cut the block to fit, rather than dig. Brilliant.

Easier said than done!!

Just for my understanding, as you installed the new wall between existing wall structures, you didn’t cement the ends (from what I could see). Everything else was cemented on the new wall, but just not on the ends where it butts up against existing structure. Why?

Sorry to hear your tools got stolen . It’s a real shame I know how long and how much money a trades man puts into his tools especially if you have your own business. It pissed me off that people don’t think about that and could just steal them with no remorse. Karma will catch up to them and you will get more and better tools god bless you and your business.

Hi Dave, first of all, Thank you for all your very informative videos. I happen to be watching your videos How to Build a Block wall with Poured in Place Concrete wall Caps (PT 2) and How to Install Stone Veneer on a Block Wall (Part 4) when I got an idea to build the same wall except it’s going to be a U shape decorative wall in from of my house to close off my garden using an 8 x 8 x 16 blocks. I am a computer programmer by trade and never done this kind of work. The closest I came is using those red stackable garden blocks that you buy from Home Depot. With your Videos I get the motivation to build this wall. Thank you very much for putting the time and effort in creating these videos.

Nice looking wall but you dont need to level every block you lay! Level the first course of blockwork then each block you lay above sight the block down from above, if its lipping it means its not level, if its flush it means it is level. This method will have you layind 2-3x more blocks per day. - Micah 17 years blocklaying experiance.

I really liked your video of the radius steps and driveway you guys poured,I’ve only poured small jobs but the way you talk about how to do what you did I’ve think I’ve picked up some good points,let me know more about the fiberglass rebar,I think it’s very interesting

as a redi-mix driver in the south central wisconsin for 19 years i have noticed in the last couple of years that more contractors are using fiberglass poles instaed of rebar or wire mesh. in driveways,garages,sidewalks,porch,patios.

There is a half inch vertical spacing on both sides of that wall you did. Will it be left like that or will you squeeze liquid cement or epoxy or silicone in there?

When doing the bond beam, what do you use to keep the concrete from flowing down the cells which don't have the vertical rebar?

I WISH we could have masonary walls that high. In my area our local council states that masonary walls cannot exceed 1.5m and must be built in a way that they can actively surveal you if they wish. Ahh, the many freedoms of Australia...
