How to Build A Bluebird Feeder will walk you through the process from purchasing materials to installation. If you have Bluebirds around your house and you have bird feeders, you probity don't see the bluebirds at the feeder. Most of the time they don't come up to traditional feeders. This video will show you how to build a Bluebird Specific Feeder. If you add meal worms to this feeder the Bluebirds will learn to feed from it.
Start with a 1 X 6 - 4 feet long
Floor - 7.5 X 5
Sides (2) 7 X 5
Roof 10.5 X 5
Roof 2 10.5 X 4
Plexiglas (2) 8 X 3.5
A 1 1/2 inch drill bit.

I built this exact feeder this afternoon using some left over cedar wood I have. Very simple and easy to build. My blue birds are already building a nest in the house I hung up, so I'll be setting up the feeder soon. Great video thanks for posting.

I built one and had blue birds take to it immediately, the starlings would poke their heads in and eat what they could reach also I had house sparrows try take it over and started to build a nest . I could one house sparrow pecking the life out of the blue bird. Works great for the winter but no9t so much in the summer during nesting season

I've got a couple of small tables with bowls on them filled with meal worms. It's right outside my sliding glass doors .I have my wide-screen television propped up on the entertainment table on speakers with about a 2 foot square opening below the television and in the middle so I can watch the birds and television. 😁

Good morning. So when you add the mill worms, does there need to be dirt inside the feeder to keep the mill worms alive or some water? I’ve never dealt with mill worms lol. Thank you again sooooooo much for having the measurements in your direction area. Hope you both have a wonderful day!! Liz

That's a good question. We are kinda new to feeding meal worms to bluebirds as well and we use the dried meal worms. Our problem is the squirrels are cleaning us out and by chewing into the feeder. I need to relocate ours and put it on a squirrel proof pole.

Bluebirds won't forage for food or nesting materials near their nest. So don't put it close to the nest or other bird feeders. Other than that I don't know a good distance to suggest. I don't have plans to do a video on squirrel houses but I am working on a video for a bluebird house.

Wayne, great video and thank you for sharing it. Question for you, what is your thoughts on painting this feeder. If I left it natural, it will just weather gray or I can paint it. My fear is that it will look more like an ornament if it was painted and scare the birds away. Any thoughts?
