I'll definitely try building this. :) I had hoped for a tutorial for building a bridge over ocean, connecting two islands that way. :)

That would take forever. Did you do??

2:54 those diagonal beams bring absolutely no static support in real life. I wouldn't subscribe saying it looks sturdier that way :D but it is definitely a decorative element

Indeed, the triangles should be the other way around with the middle point in contact with the bridge

Is there a possible way to make a bridge all the way out to the ocean biome? This looks great and will be using this so i can port my boat without worrying about greydwarves damaging it

But doesn't wood take damage in water? I always used stone bases for anything in the water. I haven't played in a while so this might have changed.
@alessioHD
@alessioHD Год назад
No, you're correct! Wood does still take damage in water. A stone base is a good idea!

From what I remember, granted I haven’t played in months, the diagonal beams don’t take water damage. So you could potentially do that instead

Wood will only get 50% damage by water. It will not completely get destroyed unless something like mob destroys it
@UmbrageousZX
@UmbrageousZX Год назад
yes and no! wood takes damage from water the same as from rain! Meaning no matter what the lowest its gonna go is 50% of its original hp and it will look damaged/dated! Which is why i usually add roofs over my bridges because i dont like the rotten damaged look! But yeah you cant do anything about the below water support except build in stone, but it still wont break if thats your worry
@crazytastie
@crazytastie Год назад
@@UmbrageousZX That actually was my worry, it breaking. Lol But I don't like the rotten look either, so I guess I'll just continue to build in stone under water.

log poles take a lot of damage when built in water... I'm trying to build a bridge and found out they're constantly decaying

ive been looking up bridge tutorials looking for a way to stop the support poles from decaying so fast (ive never actually let them decay since i always repair them when i cross the bridge but its getting annoying now) do they ever decay to the point they break and risk collapsing the bridge
@Stormthorn67
@Stormthorn67 8 месяцев назад
Maximum water decay is 50% so they should be fine unless a monster attacks

What about the rain ? Won't it damage the bridge with time, and eventually break it ? Edit : and also, do the log in the river get more and more damaged by water ?
@alessioHD
@alessioHD 6 месяцев назад
Yes, the bridge does gradually become more water damaged over time. However, the mechanic works in a way that water will only damage a structure up until 50% durability, so it won't actually break it!

I know this is ancient but one thing I did to help get angles on the underside of a similar bridge I made was to just put a raft in the river nearby. I could then paddle it wherever I needed and you get the full refund for it if you smash it afterwards.
@alessioHD
@alessioHD Год назад
Haha, it's good to see ancient techniques being revised! That's a great idea!
@joseespinoza7378

Wont it break in like a couple hours from the water decay? I just made a huge bridge and realized all my supports are about to break :(
@alessioHD
@alessioHD Год назад
Water decay will only damage buildings up until the 50% mark.
