After seeing multiple videos of people building Chladni plates I decided to make one myself. I was surprised by the reaction it had to some of the songs I decided to play.

Noise (random frequencies) will produce random distribution: lots of sand particles going to wherever they are bounced. Every fixed object has a resonant frequency, eg. When you flick a wine glass the pure tone you hear is that freq.. so, this Teflon pizza tray also has its main frequency: it’s fundamental. After that? It will have a series of extra (some quite strong, some a bit weaker) frequencies where it will respond. It is the Chladni plate (named after Mr Chladni) that vibrates and sends the particles into an organised shape/pattern. It makes compulsive viewing and a desire to experiment and make your own. Thanks for sharing. By the way, once you generate higher than 20,000Hz we can no longer hear the pitch. (Ultrasonic) Hifu is a cancer treatment, can bust certain kidney stones and of you get the frequency spot on you can image inside the soft tissue and see your unborn baby. Not recommended at home.

I think the lip on the plate constrained the number of different patterns available. I am using a square piece of 1/16" thick steel plate, painted black. I use salt because it is lighter than sand and reacts more quickly to an input. And I am using a Dayton Audio surface exciter/transducer from Parts Express. I'm teaching a class on sound and acoustics. Also, just wanted to say to some of your commentators: when you use music, the notes and sounds within the music change quickly and constantly. A Cladni plate is only supposed to display standing waves, which take a little time to form a pattern. You can use two or three pure (sine wave) tones at the same time, as long as they don't instantly disappear because they are part of a song. By the way, Carlos, LOL, dude! (end of vid)

Can you tell me or show me more about how you setup your chladni plate using the surface exciter. I am going to be doing a project with kids making some chladni plates. Your idea seems great.

it allows you to visualize how a centrally vibrated plate creates unique interference patterns depending on the mechanical frequency applied / the plates shape / size and mechanical characteristics. change the shape of the plate, and the material its made of and the entire interference pattern changes. so you are not really 'visualizing waves' - still a very cool effect

One wonders what the pattern is for 3400 HZ, the frequency of a Blue-Point (AT2050) air hammer. I viewed a video of a mechanic break up the rust and walked-out a CV axle from its carrier bearing bracket [1]. One wonders if it was a practical application of the the Chladni plate effect, the carrier bearing, like the sand, seeking equilibrium. This explains our reality
@muntee33
@muntee33 5 лет назад
Is a rudimentary demonstration of a property of our charge... resonance and standing waves that geometrically equalise pressure. (staggering variabilities there alone.) Theres more at play here obviously, but it fails to ‘explain’ those. Now do it in 3D. And put it in an environment that exerts a rotational force on it. Now do it with plasma. Now established how to have two Plasma discharges in a coexistence of sorts... Now supply the driver of the original field with the exact energy properties it requires harnessed from the resonant properties of of sorts of the secondary field. Thats an in accurate, oversimplification of the tip of the ice berg. The relevant Principles of nature are simple, yes. Bout our existence is at an increased magnitudes of such immeasurable scale that reality has had a pretty good chance to become a far more layered and complex beast that the few basic principles would lead you to believe. You can still see these basic principles trough out many of nature’s aspects, but its not that simple... to meaningfully understand them to the point you could harness them, you gotta apply them as a ‘key’ of sorts to a seemingly never ending hill of riddles n brain teasers and you must work each one out to a very high standard before you can progress too far onwards.

When you started playing the Music it gave out Destructive Interference, or Disruptive Frequency, which is Negative Sound Incubation... the reason why, is because the Music you played was in A440hz.. And virtually all the Music Industry is tuned to that Frequency.. and there is an even darker reason behind why.. 😳 I Like your little example and project anyway.. cool and simple. 👽👍

@@noelalexisshaw-nas-noz5142 here's the rub. Hertz is a measurement of cycles per second and a second is an arbitrary man-made measurement of time. There is no sinister or dark reason why we use one frequency versus another. We simply adopted one that was basically an average of what everyone was using to create a standard measurement so that we could all be in tune together without having to discuss or argue about it too much. That's really it. There's no other agenda. I would of course be open to looking at some links if you would be willing to provide some of those studies that you speak of. I'm always interested in learning.
