As I couldn't find a longer board then 36" anywhere here around nor on Amazon Belgium, Holland or France. Well ... only one option left ... asking my own ;-) I still had a plywood plate in my garage. I drew the shape a d took my hand saw and got a 106x28 cm board and sanded the edges. It's not perfect in 2 spots but I'm overall pleased with this intermediate result. Then went on line to order surf trucks and wheels. Now waiting till they are enlivened as I have no clue yet where to drill the holes. Once that is done I can further finish the wood sanding and putting on a varnish. Oh, I never ever stood on a board before. I'm 62 😅

Thank you for sharing these builds! I feel like creating surf skates with 50+ inch decks is a long overdue progression. Hopefully we’ll start seeing this trend be reflected in larger surf skate market trends. 🤙🏽

I have a Sector 9 Garuda Super Cruiser with a springy, cambered, concave 47” deck I think would become a dreamy ride with C7’s.

The first surfskate I bought was only 29” and because the deck was drilled for normal trucks, the adapter actually set the wheels behind your front foot which made it feel REALLY odd. On a whim I bought a 40” longboard and grafted the adapter onto that. What a difference! Not quite the 50”+ rides you have there but way more fun than the standard setup.

Great video as always! These long boards do look very fun, and it’s encouraging to hear that in some cases they are even easier to pump over a distance than regular surfskates - I imagined they would take more effort.

I bought a 25 years old 60" x 11,5" longboard with 40" & 43" WB today (on eBay for 50€...) by accident 🤪 The trucks are a bit too wide, but CNC built. Everything needs some maintanance, but I can't wait to ride this plank. Probably with the Waterborne adapter, let's see.

Been watching your channel for a few months now, great info! I just tried the waterborne surf and rail adapter on my Loaded Bhangra 48.5". I normally like the flex of the bamboo deck but found it too soft or "mushy" when pumping and trying to generate speed with the surf adapter. I feel like I can pump harder and faster with a shorter, more rigid deck.
@SurfskateLove
@SurfskateLove 10 месяцев назад
Really? That hasn't been my experience at all. How much have you played with it? And do you experiment with standing on different places when you pump?
@ktextreme
@ktextreme 10 месяцев назад
@@SurfskateLove I gave it a few sessions before switching the adapter back to my shorter cruiser deck. Going downhill it was a fun and surfy ride, but over flat or uphill for longer distances, it just seemed like the softer flex absorbed a lot of energy instead of transferring it. Yes, body position really makes a difference on the longer deck. Jealous of your quiver!

I cant find anything i really like online as far as deck shapes/styles. So ill probably just make my own. Was going to buy a YOW deck to fit on my CX trucks, but its much more expensive than just making it.

I've been contemplating putting 149 Indy trucks, with 61mm nine ball wheels on a 55 inch Luke Nosewalker, in an attempt to achieve the result that it appears you already have. I'm older than you, haven't been keeping up on tech progression of trucks, and now can see that instead of using risers I should be investigating rails(?). Anyhow, any advice you can share regarding just putting 149 Indy trucks on a Nosewalker, with 61mm nine balls, and wedge risers? Great video, too, by the way.
@SurfskateLove
@SurfskateLove 4 месяца назад
Why wouldn't you just put a surfskate truck on it?
@iosis99
@iosis99 4 месяца назад
Old school thinking, lack of familiarity with new truck designs and how they work, desire to use existing equipment on hand. For years I've skated on a first generation sector 9 Phoenix board, 44 inches long and relatively short wheelbase. With 149 Indy trucks, wedge risers, and 61mm nine balls, it's been very maneuverable for me. I think it's about as maneuverable as what you're achieving here with your impressive experimentation shown in the video. Is your nosewalker the 57 inch version? The later ones are 55 inches, and I've read have rwo fewer ply layers in their construction., so maybe more flexible. I don't know if the wheelbase is the same between the two models.

Wat about adding angled risers for better easier pumping LDP ? I see adding 15deg front 7deg back on flat boards ???

I was curious if anyone has riden the Lucid grip Birch 60 log. It seems like the perfect length and width 60 x 12. I like that it's an inch wider then the Koastal, but narrower then the Kahuna Creations Bombora, which is 59 x 14. The thing I'm most curious about is that it only comes with the Revenge Alpha 2 trucks, which I would love to see Steve review (I'm not up to date on all his videos, perhaps he has) I don't think you can buy the deck only like you can with Koastal (which also uses the same alpha trucks on its complete) or the Kahuna Creations. I have a YOW with the meraki trucks and I have a waterborne adapter that I have moved from deck to deck since roughly 2020. I have no idea how the Revenge trucks will perform and that makes me a little nervous. Thanks for what you do. I watched all of your early videos when you 1st got started. I took a long break after I found what I wanted. I have now come back to you as I have been shopping for a true Longboard. It is beautiful to see your progression of knowledge as well as the production quality of your videos. I absolutely love what you do. Thanks so much and any advice is appreciated!

Hi Steve. I have about 8 longboards...and one surfskate the Bolsa Carver..... could you please tell me as I've not ever experimented... but what could I put in the front and back of my Loaded Ichurus to make it into a surf skate like you have..? .. I'm clueless ! .. sorry..but like to try.... I could buy a meraki system for front or use my cx trucks from the bolsa for the front ..or get a water-borne for front ? .....but can I leave the standard trucks on the back of the Ichurus ( Paris 150s ? ) please help? Thanks

I would throw a Waterborne on it. Both the surf adapter and rail adapter. Paris 150s will be great. Have fun!

@@SurfskateLove Hi Steve. I really appreciate your reply. Thank you so much. I watch a lot of your videos and they've helped a lot. I live on the coast in England and started longboarding in my 50s and got pretty good at pumping and carving the coast now.. Got some quality boards like loaded and arbor .. but the bolsa carver was a game changer for pumping ..just brilliant....now I'll put the waterborne on my Ichurus which I'm sure will improve the pumping ability. Keep the videos coming they help loads of us !

What’s size rkp’s are you using on the boat setup?? 180mm or 200mm?
@SurfskateLove
@SurfskateLove 9 месяцев назад
It's funny, when I made that video I thought I had wide RKPs on it because that's what I had started with on it. But I had spaced that I replaced them with narrower ones. So these are actually just 150mm wide. And that's my preference, even on wide decks like that. In every case I've tried wider hangers, I always prefer the 150mm.

It's really 'hard' in the first couple of minutes of watching this video to try to make my mind act mature enough to stop saying; "That's what she said.", or "Damn Steve, you're such a size queen." You know, with all the talk about big flexy decks that are super fun to pump on.... I'm dead... I'm just too much of a child.
