Woody garden material can be challenging to compost, but instead of getting rid of it, use it to make a dead hedge. They're an easy-to-make structure that can be used as an attractive garden feature, a windbreak, or to obscure things you want to hide away from view. In this video, I'll take you through how to build a simple one that's about twelve feet long and 18" wide.
For this project, you'll need eight stakes or straight branches about 4 feet (120 cm) long. You'll also need plenty of woody and dried-up garden waste, a measuring tape, and either a mallet or spade. If branches or stakes need cutting, you can use a hand saw.
