I'm glad I found this video! My favorite part is when you show how it can be folded flat (7:55), which is a great thing I never imagined when I was making my own plans. Thank you!!
Thank you so much for making this video! I’ve been wanting a stand up easel but can’t afford one. I have all the wood and tools to make it though. This helps me so much 🤗
My guy, the way this easel folds is amazing, i kept searching for a sturdy one that can be folded and i thought to myself "why not build one" thank you for the inspiration!
Great Video and Easel! I was inspired by your video and I made an easel! No more crappy Dick Blick easel in my studio anymore! Mine design used 2x4's, caster wheels, and carraige bolts; thanks so much for the DIY tips!
I really like how simple your design is and can easily be upgraded to add more features to it. This is a fantastic base design for an easel. Thank you for sharing.
This easel is exactly what I have been looking for. Very good instructions and easy to follow step by step video. Thank you for the time of putting it together. The easel looks much better than most on the market and stronger too.
This is really good. Only thing I would change is the shelves. I would turn them 180 degrees to make space for the finger screws at the front. Or use a wider piece of wood and place the shelve on the middle, so there is still space for the finger screw at the front. Then I would make two piece of wood with the thread inserts to put at the back, and then the finger screw at the front. That way it is easy to change the height while painting, without having to go to the back, if you want to change the ergonomics when you move around the canvas. This is especially important on larger canvases.
I love this project. Ive been wanting an easel for so long. I have some threaded inserts frm another project, how many star bolts, threaded inserts will I need? Thnk you
sorry it took so long to get back with you, had to pull the easel out of storage. I used a total of six inserts and knobs: two for the fold down base, two for the fold down legs and one for each sliding canvas stands or holders.
At the 3:02 mark, you didn’t specify what the length of those leg supports are? If the legs are 36 inches, how long are the supports you cut the dowel rests into?
Good catch! They are 23 inches long, but they were already cut leftover pieces from another project, so I didn't cut them specifically for the easel. However, the easel balances well, so I would say 23-24 inches is a good length to use.
He actually goes over the sizes he used in the 1st 30seconds of the video. 6ft pieces with left over 2ft pieces. Overall height is 6ft, guessing about 2ft wide
I made my easel by watching every single second of the video repeatedly. Thanks for sharing! drive.google.com/file/d/10kbp26SgHRbDNPLEoWKi3voyagPWtNP-/view?usp=share_link
