A few tips: solder germanium transistors with a bit longer legs. The heat can damage the germanium inside. These transistors are much more sensitive to heat than the silicon ones. Soldering in smaller components first gives a bit more room to fiddle with them, instead of holding them with tweezers.

6:37 - Instead of using a blade, I have found that an adjustable rotary leather punch is faster and makes a perfectly round hole every time. They also have the benefit of being able to punch out various sized holes. You can get one on Amazon for under $20 that will last for years to come.

What are the turrets used for? Why not solder the components directly in?

You can connect the components directly to the PCB, but the turrets are the vintage construction method. They are reliable, serviceable and ensure a solid connection of the electronic component.

@@Electrosmash Ah, thanks, I see, I read up on these now... so basically just cargo cult and design.. as serviceability is probably worse if you pin the components through instead of soldering them with loops at the terminal.

Where are you getting those bias voltages from? The original resistor values never give those voltages.

yes they do, with a Q1 with a Hfe around 80 and Q2 with Hfe = 120, the Vc1=-0.5V and -Vc2=-4.5V. With the timmer resistors you can use any high gain transistors and adjust them to the perfect bias.

I have been checking circuits around (I am not a bass player myself) but as far as I know, you can use this Fuzz with a bass without problems. I have some positive comments from people using it with a bass guitar.

1T308V (1Т308В in russian) according to the photo on the site. Similar GT308V. I used for my FF clone P416B (П416Б). They also with good Hfe (HfeQ1=70, HfeQ2 = 90) and low leakage about 20uA.

@@demianchristiansen1948 With stereo you can use the input jack as an ON switch, so when the guitar is disconnected the pedal switches off saving battery.
