It's amazing how far spoon technology has come over the years. Even thought composite and polymer spoons are very practical, you just can't replace the look and feel of a hand made wood and metal spoon.

I'm surprised that you don't have that collection in a temperature and humidity controlled enclosure. I know your HVAC system is obviously pretty high end, but that is some valuable merchandise to leave exposed like that. I can already see the wood on that 2007 model is a bit dried out.

I really wish I could work for you. I enjoy going the extra mile and doing extra details to make the job come out truly premium like old craftsman used to do a century ago. Unfortunately, lots of people don't want to pay the little bit extra for that type of quality! I'm so glad that you have this more premium type of mentality.

Hey Matt, great vids. I'm a finishing carpenter in Australia. I cannot for the life of me understand how you guys get super precision quickly using the imperial system. I operate at 0.5mm accuracy running lasers most of the time. Looking at an imperial tape where it doesn't even have micro numbers on it and brain crunching fractions must eat up so much time. I can guarentee if you went to metric, you would save a ton of money on time and an even higher standard of finish. I get that it's what your used to, but man, give me millimters and meters any day of the week. There is a reason most US scientists use metric. You should apply metric to building science as well, be the leader in the US building industry, go metric. Keep up the great work.
@michaelfranks341
@michaelfranks341 2 года назад
why do you need micro numbers when I have 1/16 or 1/32( depending on the tape measure) on a tape measure? That's plenty of tightness for carpentry work.
@AaronzDad
@AaronzDad 2 года назад
Hear! Hear! I'm with ya John. I really really REALLY wish we'd switch over to the metric system. It already is the "official" measurement system of the USA but everyone still uses #(*%(#ing imperial. And can we switch to torx head screws while we're at it? For the love of all that is Holy! Gah!

I’ve always tried to get customers to use the best hardware possible. Sure it costs more, but as time passes cheap hinges have no adjustments for settling or warpage or twisting of the doors themselves. Not to mention cheap hinges just don’t open near as far as the more expensive hinges will. I’ve had to replace so many cheap hinges over the years from screws stripping out that’s usually from someone opening a door too hard and putting stress on the cheap hinges. In the long run the more expensive hinges are worth every penny and you’ll be glad you have them somewhere down the line needing to make adjustments at some point!

Question not dealing with the video. Can I install a water heater booster and Tank in just my kitchen? For my pot filler? Taking my 125F water up to like 180F maybe 190F? To short boil up time? Also using it as a mini thermal battery to use extra solar power in the day (on a timer) and keep it hot via tank? I feel like the tank would only need to be a 6-10gal max which you can get for less than $300. Yes I could add a Tankless small unit. But curious about using peak solar production for it.

Not really a fan of the touch latch. Seems if somebody just accidentally bumped the wall they would open your "secret" safe. And couldn't you have mitered the top of the shiplap to make the door cut less obvious? As is, the horizontal black line is a pretty dead giveaway that something unusual is there. I mean, you have unbroken lines running seven stories just a few feet away to show you could continue that to the ceiling of that nook easily.
