How to build a home made scuba diving tank - DIY

This is how you build a home made scuba diving tank.
Never use a sprayer that have been used with chemicals, never dive alone, don't use it in the sea, and always have a certified diver with you when using this.
This video is meant for entertainment purpose only, and we recommend that you don't build and use this. Scuba diving can be dangerous without proper equipment and training.
If you are going to do it anyway, here is what you need for the project:
Garden sprayer: amzn.to/2qxZ9ey
or smaller gardensprayer: amzn.to/2qxYlWP
Weights: amzn.to/2pZLZ7l
Weight belt: amzn.to/2qDASC4
Bagage straps: amzn.to/2pZvrwp
And ducktape: amzn.to/2pZWGql

@c u: To be practically honest, you are probably right. But you never know how big of a breath they may take down there (they may take the biggest breath they can) or how far down they may try to go. The pool I got certified in was 17' feet deep. That is about another 0.5 atm of pressure on the air in your lungs. If they took a breath at the bottom, the volume of air in their lungs would increase by 50% when surfacing (assuming you are at sea level.) ex: 4 liters would become 6 liters of air. The change would be greater if they were higher than sea level.

Although he's using really low PSI, this reminds me of an advanced open water Scuba class I took while stationed in Okinawa back in the early 70's. Part of the training was to breath directly from the tank..NO REGULATOR. The purpose being if your regulator failed, you'd be trained in how to deal with using that high PSI air from the tank. Sort of scary at first. But once you get the hang of controlling the valve, not all too hard to do. These days, backup is the norm.

Don't attach the lead weights to the bottle. attach to your waist so that in case of emergency, you can just unlatch it very fast. However if attach to the tank, you have to get those two clips off and then try to take the weights off the tank.

So my understanding is that when he's breathing the pressurized air under too great a depth, and he surfaces, the pressurized air expands inside his lungs and can hurt him, right? So, could someone avoid such injury by "un-pressurizing" the air into a separate tank? Say you had one tank under pressure, and a second one that was not, and the first tank fed into that tank before you breathed it.
@Fullftronix
@Fullftronix 5 лет назад
Nope, the problem isn't that he has compressed the air into the tank. It's fact that under "pressure" air can be compress and when you dive the water pressure is what is doing the compressing. So say you take 1 litre of air in a bottle at see level (0m) and then you dive down to 10m. There is still 1 litre of air in bottle but it will be compresses to around 500ml or half the amount of air and has crushed itself. (because of the water pressure around you) Now you want to fill a second 1litre bottle (at 10m still) but if you note the bottle we fill at the surface has half as much air, So where going to need to but 2litre of air. Now as we return to the surface the first bottle begins the return to normal but the second bottle in beginning to swell up. The further up you go the more the second bottle swells up and then BANG it's bursts. The same thing can happen to your lungs when you breath in underwater.
@americanallthewayredneck3917
@americanallthewayredneck3917 5 лет назад
Justin David its pressure and volume effected by atmosphere..every 33 feet an atmosperic change to pressure and volume occurs...Holding your breath below 33 feet and coming to the surface could cause an embolism...over inflation or bursting of the lungs...
@macadoua4847
@macadoua4847 2 года назад
Ryan Xuereb: Although its true that the water is doing the compressing, the air pressure inside the tank is still higher at sea level. As well as this, as far as I'm aware, and I could be wrong, I haven't taken SCUBA lessons, the tanks do not get compressed by the water because of their rigidity.

No, you won't get 90 seconds - this guy doesn't even get 2 breaths from it. Plus, if you have normal sized adult lungs the volume of air required for swimming would be around 28 - 35 litres per minute at surface pressure. This piece of plastic shit is just over 8 litres volume which equates to 1 and a half breaths surface pressure. It cannot be pressurised to anything near the pressure required to provide more than 1- 2 breaths at just 1m depth. From a Professional Diver of 40+ years.

Quickest way to an embolism I've ever seen. Anyone trying this beware. if you take a lung full of compressed air at depths as shallow as a metre and hold it as you surface you are very likely to have an embolism. This will mean you lungs rupture and if not treated in hospital WILL result in your very painful death.

People trying your idea can sustain a lung over expansion injury (i.e. air embolism) in just 4 feet of water if they fail to breathe continuously as SCUBA divers are trained to do. This is a serious and life threatening injury. You have been warned by a number of commenters. Now you should be liable for people who are injured by implementing your instructional video.
@andyroberts4089
@andyroberts4089 7 лет назад
A lung over-expansion injury happens when air breathed at depth is held in the lungs while ascending to the surface. The air expands and ruptures the alveoli in your lungs causing massive hemorrhaging. Your alveoli are only one cell layer thick between the air in your lungs and your blood supply. It does not take much force to sustain this injury and the damage is permanent if you live.
@-BWS-

Nah, If people get injured t's their fault for doing this DIY.

Island Mike you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.
@engineer0239
@engineer0239 6 лет назад
Oh my god you dont know anything about what your talking about, but ok lets Do the maths. If you inhale at 4 feet depth and then go to the surface thats a pressure drop from about 1.1 Bars to 1 bar. Every 1 bar a Gas doubles its volume so if you inhaled 5l at the surface you have 5.5l in your lungs. So whats the big Deal? After all getting a lung overexpansion by holding your breath is very hard and it will force you to exhale.

I would like to give kudos to the maker fior being creative. However, like many others here, I would like to warn people: DO NOT try to use this or any of the other DIY gadgets like the spare air to actually try and scuba. You WILL put yourself in GRAVE danger (like collapsed lungs). Certifications for diving and cylinders are out there for a reason. I'm not an instructor but an experienced diver working for a dive shop. We sadly get many people who lack any diving experience, but have seen videos like these and get really bad ideas in their heads about trying this themselves. Just DON'T, get a cert, dive a lot and you will see why this is a bad idea in the real world.

i built my own with some swapped out parts (hello, fellow scientist!). it took like a week and a half for all the parts to arrive, which was the weights and the tank, since i couldn't find the specific measurements i wanted at local stores. i used a 12 kg tank so i just opted for more weights and could breathe comfortably underwater (bottom of 15 foot pool) for about 4.5 minutes. good tutorial, and i encourage other viewers to try it! it doesn't get you a long time but it is still quite the experience. doesn't take too long to refill the tank either (takes me about 2 minutes to fill the 12 kg tank, but i'm not that muscular and i do it rather slowly). And, best part, it's quite cheap! built mine with $35 dollars! that might seem a bit expensive but it's worth the money. good video!
@dar4733
@dar4733 2 года назад
You should never do this and never encourage others to try it! Its very dangerous even when it looks so simple and innocent. If you would finish open water diver certificate, you would learn about all the dangers. One of them is lung over expansion injury. Even as little as in 3 meters deep breathing compressed air can over expand your lungs if you don't release air while ascending. Lungs have no pain sensitivity nerve and you wouldn't feel any discomfort until it's too late.

If I had to build and use something like this to escape from a communist prison camp... I would. However, in normal life there is no need to risk drowning or a burst lung with such a piece of crap. Someone on here has already commented that they 'forgot' to clean out the spray tank before use - do you not see how dumb this thing is when there are such dumb people in the world? No one has considered what would happen should anyone swim down to 10m with this plastic thing on their back but I can tell you this; It will most likely implode very quickly - leaving you sucking water through that hose. You can check my credentials through my underwater videos on my channel, they were all filmed by me - a former military and now professional oilfield diver and strongly advise you all to pass this idea bye.
