In Part 2 of "How to Build A Home RU-vid Studio," I look to make a studio out of my small bedroom in my new apartment. All it takes is some subtle adjustments, and you can make a world of a difference. In this video, I'll show you my behind the scenes setup for my home RU-vid studio.
Only camera you have is a phone? Look here: • Building a Home YouTub...

You are seriously one of the most underrated RU-vidrs. I've been looking for a way to spice up the look of my study at home for recording lectures for my students, but I don't want to spend a fortune on it. These are practical tips that make a disproportionately large impact for the minimal investment.

Thank you for this video! I’ve seen So many videos where I feel like I’m being sold certain specific products. But your videos are great because you talk about video and audio settings and so I just gotta look for a camera within my price range that can run those settings so thank you!

Loving it KR! Any suggestions on producing a RU-vid vid? I'm playing around with online resources like Kapwing and bensound, but I just don't 'know', how to piece together a 4-6 minute video (you know, something with a little intro/outro, maybe some music layered under it all....)

Love your videos I needed help with whether to buy a camera or not and you helped me so much with products which are budget friendly .. can I please ask you if I need umbrella or ring light to record cooking/cleaning videos and I would appreciate if you can do a separate video for content creators who have to move camera i.e vlog style videos what can be their best gear and how to use it for best footage? Thanks

Very helpful video Kellan! Couple of questions--going to the new setup I noticed you went from 1/60 to 1/50 for camera settings. Is this because you went from 30 fps to 24? Also, I recently got a new lens with a lower f stop value than my kit lens. When I put it on, the image became very overexposed when I was down to about f1.8. What do you recommend I do to correct this? Currently I have ISO set to auto so wondering if I need to adjust that manually. Please let me know what you think. Thanks man!
@KellanReck
@KellanReck 3 года назад
Great questions! As for shutter, I always aim to double my frame rate. In all scenarios here I was shooting at 24fps. The initial settings were just random, hence why I moved from 1/60 to 1/50. No reason for it to be at 1/60 to start, just wanted to illustrate random settings and how we could correct them. If I were shooting at 30fps, you are correct, I would then want me shutter to be 1/60. As for your f/1.8 lens, you could leave your ISO on auto if you want, however it probably went as low as it could go. From there you have two options...1. Purchase an ND filter to darken the exposure or 2. crank your shutter to get the proper exposure (you'd be breaking the 1/50 shutter rule in that case, but sometimes I find that okay)
@PierceJPeterson
@PierceJPeterson 3 года назад
@@KellanReck Interesting. To clarify, the lens I am trying is a sigma 16mm f1.4. I started at that 1.4 and it was wayyy overexposed so I went to 1.8 and it seemed a little bit better but still a bit bright. Which option do you think is better? ND filter or crank the shutter? And which direction would you move the shutter in?
@KellanReck
@KellanReck 3 года назад
@@PierceJPeterson If you crank the shutter, you'll want to move towards a bigger number, so something like 1/120 for example. If you have an ND filter already, I'd use that. If not, go for the shutter adjusment.
@PierceJPeterson
@PierceJPeterson 3 года назад
Kellan Reck So what negative effects come from cranking the shutter?

Bro I am having a Canon 2000D and after filming at 24fps and editing it in premiere I get a laggy footage. Why would that be?

Great video! So helpful. In the video it says you're using a 5DIII but the description says 5DIV. Assuming you are using the 5D3, Do you find that not having auto focus during video with the 5D3 causes a road block or frustration? Suggestions are welcome.
