How to build a house in The Sims 4 (Building Basics) 

Hey, Deli! Love yout idea, but just a suggestion: maybe when you edit you could write on the screen the keys you are using, like the "." and the ", " when showing the rotation of the camera. It's okay if you don't do it, but I just think it would be easier to follow, especially if someone uses another name to identify for the key in question

This is so cute. I think you should also do a Building - Intermediate level and so forth as well.

I feel like I need like an intermediate tutorial for house building! I can put together some really nice basic houses, but I'd defenitely like some tutorials on platforms, half walls, roof types! Maybe even some on key features of different styles of houses.

I've learned how to build in the past because of you and James Turner (back in the days when he was the simsupply). Even though I know a lot of secrets to build, it's nice to see you building for beginners like this. Please do more!

It's always fun watching experienced builders that use cheats and shortcuts when building doing a very basic tutorial and trying to place things in places that they're used to but isn't possible without moo! As a fairly confident builder, I often watch back to basic videos to pick up tips and tricks I may have missed but I'm a firm believer in teaching the shortcuts from the beginning because I remember getting confident without them and then having to relearn with them after hunting through many videos to find how my favourite builders built so quickly and smoothly. I'd rather the small amount of extra difficulty at the start over the feeling that I'm missing something much further down the line, especially how things like holding shift when an item is selected to place multiple of them (very useful with columns!) is often a very difficult tip to come across but makes things so much easier

I love this. I think tutorials are a great thing to update now and then, especially as the game changes so much and there are always new players (or clueless players like me, who are bad with building and keyboard shortcuts lol).

I’m not big on building houses but recently I’ve been working on building more and this video really helped with the shortcut keys and how to move the lot. Lol I built to close to the front of the lot and thanks to you I know how to scoot it back some. 😂 thank you for this great video!!

Thank you for making this!! I really suck at building, but lately I’ve been trying to practice it more so I can get better. Plus so that way I can build a house for my own sims with the type that I imagine in my head. My biggest struggles are roofing and floor plans. But I think I might practice with making simpler homes rather than overwhelming myself with complicated roofs. So I’m excited to see the next video that talks about floor plans and your advice 😊

Deli, you are such a good teacher! This is exactly what a beginner needs. I learned a thing or two! Even though I have been playing since Sims 2, building is not at all my strong suit. I plan on watching every tutorial you make. So many other tutorials skip over the small steps - like how to choose the tool you need or which symbol to click to make changes. I'm very excited about this series and I hope you do move on to intermediate building skills as I still have trouble with platforms. TYSM

Thanks for this! Even though I knew some of this, it was nice to see it in action. In my legacy challenge (assuming I don't start a new save-again) I would like to be able to expand the house and update accordingly. This is a nice way to make it look easy, without overwhelming. Yay for the roofing part! Can't wait for the next one.

Deli, I adored these 2 videos and even built along, adding my own touches. This is an amazing video tutorial 👏🏼 One suggestion is to always show your build squares. So we can know how many in a chair, or window, or whatnot is placed. You rock and I really appreciate this a ton! One of your last beginner building videos helped me to finally build a house I'm satisfied by. So I'm very excited for this one. And I'm looking forward to see what I can take away from it. My problem is that I technically know how to build but I can't create any floor plans I'm satisfied by. So I decided to not overwhelm myself and try a smaller house. I found your tutorial and copied the floor plan to get a feeling for floor plans. Then I started to furnish the house but quickly realized that I hadn't enough space. So I added an extra room on the next level and continued furnishing. I finished my house a few days ago. It took me a year because I haven't played The Sims for a long time.

This was so helpful and detailed. Now I am pumped to try and build! Thanks .

I love this idea!! My biggest struggle is the “creativity” - what colours to use, what furniture, the clutter, backyard decor etc. I’m super excited to follow along!

oh i recently watched the similar video of you from 2019 so it's good to see a recent one! I am good enough with these basic houses but when it comes to 2nd floor or the decoration of a big room i create a mess so could you maybe make a video like this but like level 2 level 3 and give us more tips going harder? btw it's my first comment on your channel and can't keep to myself I LOVE YOU and your videos, you are so kind, nice, keeping our attraction to the video so keep going we love uuu

As a console player I appreciate this very much because TS4 recently enabled mouse and keyboard controls for console but nowhere can I find a keyboard layout map - I am so excited to finally make the transition so I can stop being so limited in my builds! Thank you Deli!

This is perfect timing, I just started building my first house!

I’m an experienced and confident sim builder but I’ve never learned the keyboarding! I use the brackets for sizing, alt placing, and other customization things like that but all the camera controls elude me. A detailed video about using the keyboard would be super duper helpful!

When you have been playing Sims since Sims 1 but love Deligracy so you watch anyways. I do look forward to when you do a platform video because I actually could use some pointers for that.

Before I retired, I used to have a website with hundreds of computer tutorials ... it used to be so much easier becuz everybody had basically the same hardware and software so one tutorial would cover most people. But, man, has THAT changed. Now, just to answer a simple question, you have to check the brand and version of the software they have, the operating system they are using, are they on a computer or a phone/tablet/etc., not to mention any physical limitations they may have ... the list goes on and on. And now it's also happening with The Sims ... what packs do they have installed, what version of The Sims are they using, etc., etc., etc. I found that I personally had to buy more and more hardware and software, just so I could see what my readers were seeing. I was getting older and this was becoming more and more frustrating, so I definitely understand what you are facing, Deli. But, you are doing a great job with this first video and I support your efforts! Keep 'em coming!

Hey Deli! I just realized I didn't comment what type of builds I wanna see in the last video. Anyways, I would really like it if you did a limited packs video with just dream home decorator, eco lifestyle, and base game. I don't have a whole bunch of packs, but I love your builds and I have both of these acks and they go really well together! Hope to see it!
