I am impressed, Bill! Your knowledge of pickup builds and the equipment on hand is astonishing. Thanks for the walk-through on what it takes to produce numbers-matching winds. Way past my understanding of electro magnetic transfer to my Marshall. So good to see you doing what you love!
Hi Bill, I’m sorry to say that I have only just clicked on to the fact that you are the ‘Bill Taylor’ that so kindly donated so much time and effort by handwinding a set of pickups for our fellow builder earlier this year. I just wanted to say thanks and if there’s anything I can do for you then please just ask. I don’t have a large RU-vid channel but I’m going to add you as a featured channel if that’s okay with you, I will figure out a better way to say thanks! This was also an excellent video, clear and concise and a great pace. Pickup making is something I would love to learn, so I’ll start here. Gio👍
Hi, I was glad to help out with that project. And thank you for pushing my channel a bit. It's kind of fun, that I just found your channel and subscribe yesterday. The Olive Wood you used for the neck and fretboard was outstanding.
Bill, please may I ask, what do you think about stripping a pair of cheap Wilkinson P90 and re-winding them again by hand. Would you be happy with the components? Thanks for your time and the interesting video ;-)
Hi, Yeah, I'd be happy with the components. The magnets may be the only problem, but I think Wilkinson uses Alnico magnets so should just be a matter of stripping and rewinding.
Nice video Mr. Taylor! I really enjoyed it. I was curious about the pickup manufacturing process, and you just give all the answers I needed. Although I'm not making my own pickups, on the near future at least, I'm very happy to know more about how they're made. Peace and long life! 🖖
