There is a couple of woodworking channels I look for ideas when I am doing some kind of work for my customer builds and yours is one of them. Keep up the good work you are awesome!!!
This is a beautiful bedroom set. It was fun to watch you build each individual piece. I'm entirely up for a building duet between you and Sam (my two favorite builders). I'm thinking that a lot of viewers would love to watch you two work together. Happy Labor Day.
Thank you! I’m hoping for the same someday! I’d love to take a road trip to visit @diyhuntress and build something together or have her down to my place sometime. Maybe a 2022 goal 😉😊
Very nice finish (to the series)! It's not that you made mistakes, everyone does. It's how you recover. And I thought you handled them well. Nice work!
I always love your designs, and the way you explain the build so that it “should” be repeatable! Now I just need you to engeneer a Murphy bed that I can build in my daughters room….unless you already have and I just haven’t seen it yet.
I appreciate that! I haven’t tackled a Murphy bed yet…I just haven’t ever had a need to build one. But maybe some day! I’m sure it would be a fun project!
As always, nice job on this matching bed to the series. Bought a kreg rip cut last week. Took a few minutes to figure out but it's nice to not have to measure and it keeps the face out of the wood shrapnel. Making a small french cleat wall for above the new workbench.
That sounds like a fun project! I'm definitely a fan of the Rip Cut (as you can probably tell since it's in like every single video haha). Glad you got one and found it helpful, too!
I want to let you know that your designs, your instruction, and perhaps most of all the quality of our videos overall has improved a great deal in the time I have been a sub to this channel. You were never bad at this, it is just that you are becoming really, really good at it.
I really appreciate that! I never knew anything about video (and still don’t know much haha) but I think practice and general trial and error have taught me a great deal. I truly appreciate your kind words and I hope you continue to enjoy the content!
Shara, I love the fact you thought of things in terms of a set instead of each piece at a time. I think you did the same thing for your parents office. Great job! You've motivated me to get out in my own garage/shop and make some sort of attempt at being creative. Looking forward to your next video. I can't imagine your brain resting for very long after completing this one! Thanks for sharing!
Yes! I did do the same for my parent's office. This is actually my third "matching set" and I really enjoy building multiple pieces and trying to tie in various details to make the designs "match" each other. I'd love to do a few more sets in the future! I'm so glad you have been inspired by my videos and projects and I truly appreciate you following along! Happy building!
Nicely done Shara, a complete bedroom set for your parents. Your Mom and Dad must be so very proud of all your hard work and commitment to your business. As always the end product goods great! I enjoy when you stop the action to speak to your viewers concerning the project, I feel it makes for a good personal connection.
Wow! Beautiful project. I love how you use simple and easy techniques. You always remind me that the beauty of a project is not in complexity, but clean cuts, patience, and attention to details. You make each piece unique and stunning. And, as always, video editing and instructions are top-notch!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate your kind words! I agree though--the beauty is in the details, and things don't have to be complex. I love keeping things as simple as possible :)
Really love your designs. Now thinking of doing some woodworking and it's good to see the tools you use get the job done without buying big and expensive machines.
This was a great series and the bed looks fantastic! Your designs for the furniture was very good and I like the clean and simple lines of them. Thanks for sharing this.
You're a beautiful young Lady with an amazing talent for working with wood. I always enjoy watching your creations and love the way you explain everything in detail. This bed looks great and finishes the room nicely. Looking forward to your next work of art.
Haha, I'm glad I'm not the only one! I rarely start out with a "plan" and just kind of figure out how I want to make it as I go. Sometimes it works great and sometimes I have to redo some stuff. But at the end of the day, I enjoy the troubleshooting process :) Thanks so much for watching!
I have really enjoyed this series! The maple plywood adds a new dimension to the look. The overall design of the bed is very nice. The center supports for the slats is also a great idea! Your flying leap didn’t even budge it one bit! Lol…. I hope you’ve had a great weekend and Keep on building!
I appreciate it! Thanks so much for watching...I'm glad you enjoyed the design, and I'm glad you noticed the flying leap haha. I wanted to give it a test run and make sure it held up. I hope you have a great weekend as well!
Beautiful design! It is so nice to see an easy bed room set that you can make that is an alternative to using construction grade 2 x lumber from a big box store. Nice clean lines, smooth finish and I love the clear poly you can see the patterns of the wood,
Nice design, from my own painful experience with my self-made bed, I would recommend rounding off the corners at the front more! Greetings-waiting for your next Project!
Amazing! Thanks for posting this beautiful and super detailed build, seems like a super fun project, I'm planning to build this for my guest room as well!
This whole series was great! I love watching each video and look forward to more. I would love to build some of these pieces but I currently do not have the room needed to store and manipulate large sheets of plywood. Thanks for putting all of this together for us. Take care.
I understand not having room for large plywood sheets. My old shop was a little tight for working with large plywood. Sometimes I'd cut them down into manageable sizes outside before bringing them in. But I know that's kind of annoying.
great work my wife and i love watching you she loves everything you have done. i noticed that there's 2 different styles of night stands one has a double drawer and one has only one that you build in the last video did you re-make the night stands for the ones shown min 11:44 on the video then the other one at min 12:30
Thank you! The nightstands with two drawers are my nightstands that go with my bedroom set. I made this new bed and matching set for my moms guest room and just staged it in my house to take photos before moving it to her house. So the double drawer ones you see are the ones I’m currently using in my home and before I got photos of this bed, I just swapped them out with the ones that matched. You can find the plans for the two drawer nightstands and the matching bed/dresser set that goes with them here: www.woodshopdiaries.com/diy-modern-nightstand-two-drawer/
It is! 👍 I set it up and jumped on it (see the end of the video) just to kind of check and make sure everything stayed as it should and it didn’t budge.
That set turned out great! Those wardrobes look amazing there too. I can definitely tell your video editing game is coming up from your Skill Share studies :)
@@WoodshopDiaries I mean, I'm kinda missing the basketball shorts with rubber boots thing you had last summer lol. I never could figure out how you didn't end up with boots full of saw dust.
Yes! It’s on my to do list for this week to put together the bundle in the shop 👍 I ran out of time before the long weekend, but I’ll get it on there soon!
I grew up in the Midcentury Modern era and always thought the look was rather meh. But your stuff ready looks great! I think it must be the extra color and figuring in the plywood rather than the monochrome of the original stuff. Well done!
Thanks so much! I've always thought the dark wood in mid century style stuff was nice, but also kind of boring. I always like to use the "character" pieces in my projects--the ones most people don't like haha. I like the color variation and the lighter woods to give it extra visual interest without me having to do extra work on it. (I guess that kind of makes me lazy haha). Anyway, I'm glad you like the design and I appreciate you watching!
I always wonder, that when you bought your plywood, if you had access to Baltic Birch. It is a stinger plywood, 13 plus for 3/4”. Then this past week I built something for the grandson. Used Baltic birch for the main Piece and maple veneered plywood (Home Depot). I finished it with just water based polyurethane. The maple finished off so much nicer. The BB needs 4 coats, the Maple I honestly could have left it at two. My next project is a sink cabinet for my shop. I was going to go with BB for strength, etc, even thought may not be needed. After this I think I am going with the maple veneered.
I don’t have Baltic available in my area. But I’ve used a lot of different brands of plywood from a lot of different places and I always use PureBond birch or maple from Home Depot as it’s the best I have found and I have zero complaints with it. If it works, I don’t see a reason to switch. Plus, it’s reasonably priced and readily available 👍😊 it’s good stuff…and I’m not paid to say that…I buy it with my own hard earned cash haha.
Thanks so much! I left the edges square. They’ll get a little “rounded” from sanding off the edge banding, but it’s not significant. I personally don’t like the look of rounded edges, so I keep things square. But if you wanted them softer, you could round them, but the plys would show. If you rounded, I’m suggest using solid wood vs ply. And also, Lucy is still kicking it with me, but spends most of her time chilling in the chairs on the front porch 😂 she will make a grand appearance in my next video though 😁😉 she’s the real star of the show haha
Wow!!! I love this! I truly would love to make this project, wood has gotten pretty pricey lately but could you give us the price you made the bed for... roughly? I'm looking for inexpensive! (hence building myself) are you self taught? 😊 Thank you
Price has changed greatly since I made it and I honestly don’t remember what it cost then. But I have a materials list in the description and the plans linked in the description and I’d recommend checking prices for those materials in your area (prices vary by location as well) to get a rough estimate on cost currently. I am self taught…just learning as I go for the last about 7-8 years now. I’ve got tons of helpful guides and info on my website you can check out woodshopdiaries.com
really nice I wanted to borrow from that design to make my daugters bed, is there any chance you remember what the coupling bracket was called or have a link to them with the hooks and slots
Great job. I wouldnt expect anything. Way to show your mistakes and not get frazzled. You should make a master template for those legs instead of always measuring them.
One option to add more substance to the frame is to use 2x material vs 3/4” plywood. For the legs, you could also substitute square posts (like 4x4s) or make two legs per corner from 2x material and glue them together for a larger support at the corners. That’s just a few options to help. For the slats, you could also use 2x4s instead of 3/4” plywood and use 2x4s for the vet yet supports vs 2x2s.
приятно посмотреть на девушку которая занята делом, а не светит своими телесами. К сожалению таких появляется все больше. Успехов. привет с солнечного Урала.
Haha I still got them! I use them every morning to take the dog out in 😂 I usually ditch them in the summer in the shop because they’re a little too warm. But they’ll be back this fall/winter when it cools down 😉
