I have been watching your videos for quite some time now, even tried some of the techniques that you have used in your oven constructions, like using a burlap, inserting a copper tube inside the dome, mixing sawdust into the cob mixture to insulate the thermal layer etc, and I must say I obtained excellent results, beyond my own expectations. The # of subscribers doesn't do the justice for your channel, but your content is excellent. Keep it up!
Just curious could you also use this sort of oven as a stove for heat? On one hand the fact that it retains heat seems good for when the fire goes out however is it so insulated that most of the heat won't escape?
I’m worried that it might get dislodged from the plywood. You just laid down clay and perlite mortar and started your brick foundation? It doesn’t ever come loose bumping down the roads anywhere? I’m thinking to maybe hammer in some tall nails in through the mortar into the woods below while the mortar’s still wet? What do you think?
@@cobalot9 sounds like a good plan! I’ll do that also after it’s set and completed! Thanks! Been following up and learning for a while now! Your work is amazing!
I’m also curious about the weight of this? We have a permanent stationary cob oven very much like this one but would also like to build a portable one. Any guidelines for weight restrictions?
Did you set the tubing straight in the oven? Does it boil the water instantly? Or did you bend the tubing to make it longer in the cob layer so the water has enough time to boil? This is ingenious! I have built a cob oven but never thought to put an instant water boiling system for tea! What a great idea! Also love the idea of it being mobile. What climate do you have? Did you end up putting a roof over your oven? Or was the lime plaster enough to keep it from deteriorating? Great video! Thank you!
Is hydraulic lime same as "cal viva" ? In Portugal we mostly get cal viva and its traditionally used for lime rendering walls. What can I use alternatively if I can't get hydraulic lime? We have very extreme weather conditions, +40c in summer and -5C in winter with long periods of heavy rains.

I see a chicken coop and farm equipment. They're not Martha Stewart but they're just working people. Honestly you have a judgemental streak. you should take a closer look within before flinging mud at others.
