Hi Thank you for sharing your experience with us! I‘ll try my best to use the knowledge for my ECHO saws. I‘m absolutly new in this stuff, but your videos help me understand it. Best regards from Germany, Dirk
Cant wait to see what Buckins idea for a muffler mod is!!! Thanks for all the info you just covered!! Im getting after a mod soon!! Appreciate all the info!! STAY SAFE friend!!
I really like that initial muffler design, I will have to do some experimenting on some of my larger saws with one of those. I would bet as small of a displacement that chainsaws are relative to that exhaust volume that you could get some tuned pipe like qualities out of that design. If you do get a reflected wave of some sort it should still lead to some stuffing. Probably not as much as a full pipe but better than an open box on the end.
Hahaha buckin is a wild man . He’s a master at his craft that’s for sure , I love watching his channel . And you too sir , keep it up . Newfoundland canada here 🇨🇦
Great educational videos. We would love to see you in action during one of your builds making a muffler to increase horse power.. Then you could compare your design with Buckin's on the same saw in another video. This is becoming addictive.
you all prolly dont care but does any of you know of a method to log back into an Instagram account?? I was stupid lost the login password. I would appreciate any tips you can offer me
@Salvatore Izaiah i really appreciate your reply. I found the site on google and im in the hacking process now. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
OOOOOHH YEAAAH,there's some fiiiine info right before my eyes and all in my ears,i tried one muffler mod (and stick to that since 6 years and still counting) using the original muffler by simply drill another same size hole next to the existing one and add a angle cut pipe to divert gases same as the original one does, and drilled 4 holes of 6mm in each sides on the end of the divider inside the muffler, that leads to an allot better working beast (12kg of beast, with a 52CC displacement, chinesium stuff, with allot of fun, gotta love the backfires when rev down),allready powerful with that 45cm long bar+full chisel chain, better air flow inside the case (better vent of the muffler also) due faster rev up,faster throttle response, heavier loads better behave, linear engine working under and between loads, all the goodies,YET little peoples knows the downsides of the muffler modding...it is a bit louder, from 93db to 98db (mine is little to notice due the better inner harmonics of the exhaust flow trough the muffler),a friend of mine made almost same mod but from 96db went to 109db wich is pretty bad considering the long therm operating that thing...don't mind the 10%-15% extra fuel consumption...power doesn't come alone...it comes with a price,aaaand...the carbon build up in the exhaust port is quite substantial....in 100 hours of work time...it's choking the port with at least 10% of the flow due the walls deposit of carbon...that is naaasty....but if you clean that port every year if you are using that beast for all year framing or just everyday as a logger (allways take the cylinder off the body to avoid future severe engine damage),still the framing guys do allot of abuse...they almost never warm up the engine...and that exhaust port choke even faster than within 1 year...otherways...that seems to be a very good ballance for me from a no brand chainsaw...better performance, less vibrations (wich often leads to severe damage on the body suspensions),lessen the sound impact despite that is actually louder by measure but due the frequency upped,to a more human comfortable margins, especially when you cut fire wood as a side job for different locals within your area, they may have nightshift or kids or a bad hangover but still need to heat theyr houses, that is a priceless achievement for me,first blind attempt=best extra options ever ! I tried 3 other ideas, all failed horribly...meanwhile,mi best wishes from Romania,IRONHOUSE,i hope you will eventually read this comment of mine,a piece of my life in here, cheers !!!
Hi Harv, I was wondering if you could give any pointers on mildly modifying a stock muffler just to make the saw a little snappier. I have two saws that I removed the baffle and expanded the exhaust port, one I got just right but the other one I think I went just a little too far. Thanks.
coming from a 2 stroke dirt bike guy, YOU KNOW YOUR STUFF! Getting a saw "on the Pipe" is the key! my stock MS361 buggs me with every cut- its never on the pipe.
I made ribs today too! Rub is key for sure, sweet needs heat, cayenne pepper. Taught my son how to set up the pit. Thanks to all service personnel, we salute you 🇺🇸🦅
You ever ported a Echo cs620p? Really would like to see you do it, I think they’re a really overlooked saw. Really enjoy all the information you are giving!!
After watching this i took your advice and knowledge and quite happy with the results… i left an inch in and an inch out and closed the top port… used an old shower curtain rod and may i add she’s definitely a leaf blower now
I make my own rub and it's never exactly the same but the one thing I don't use is sugar salt, pepper, garlic and chilli are usually all that I use for beef pork will get some cinnamon and nutmeg added to the mix and I never use sauce . We in the western part of Kansas tend to prefer to serve the sauce on the side
Tuesdays am. hi ho hi ho its off to work I go. Good to listen to you before I go back to the brick pile. I have a crew repairing the old Cooperage in Freemont NH. We use a new 70cc Stihl chop saw.
Good day sir!! Been watching you, tinman and buckin billy for a bit now. Love you guys!! I have a 455 rancher and I'm wanting to do a muffler mod. Wondering what diameter of pipes I'd need
Hi what's your thoughts on velocity stacks are they very practical for everyday use is there any gains or advantages vs a max flow filter or similar ?cheers
nice video would this be worth it for an MS660 with a big bore? I would just weld the pipe on the rear part of the muffler since it would be supported better that way what size should I use?
Hey great info brother I'm getting a 462 and I'm going to take your advice. I'm a journeyman welder by trade so I'll go for style points with your wisdom. Couple of questions. Do you worry about spark arrestor screen? in your years of logging and running saws have you ever seen a fire from a saw?. I harvest on public land and cut in summer so I kinds need one. I'm thinking if I put screen in there maybe make the holes bigger to compensate for the restriction.
hello harvey, whats your procedure for opening stock mufflers to empty them? do you cut them in half? lets take a stock 266 muffler as an example. what would you do to open it?
I have an old echo 302. Everything runs good for about five minutes and then it runs right into the ground. I pull the gas cap and the gas is boiling in the tank. Any ideas?
Ike muffler idea can’t wait to see the next one you make from bucking billy see which one works best keep it going . Hay the next port job can you take a sharpe or a magic marker and shade the area where your going to remove martial from and get your son to do close up of the milling
I never thought about my exaughst being a reason for my old chainsaw (80s eager beaver) to be overheating. I might play with the back pressure and see if I can cut down on the heat.
What’s up man. I could use some advice. I ported my 201tc. Transfer ports on piston and jug. Intake and exhaust port with exhaust mod. I’m getting incredible power and trigger response. It it’s not staying at an idle. I think the carb cannot pick up the difference In airflow. I hate these mtronic carbs. Would advancing the timing fix the solution.
Hey, Harvey! Are those stock mufflers for the huskys welded together? How to you get them to come apart at the seem? I'd be interested in buying one of your.pipes for my 266 if you interested in selling one. I put the meteor big bore P&C on it and I believe it is now holding too much heat with the stock muffler.
Iron horse PLEASE talk about the pulan wild thing 40-42 cc and how we can get some horses out of that. I hear stihl used their technology on their newer saws
First video I've seen of yours. Love it I'm here because of buckin b r. Axe of kindness. So the idea of horsepower from a saw I'm very interested in. Unfortunately I lack a large quantity of necessities. Shop, verius powertools and yes even the education. However. I believe I could follow these directions given equal opportunity. By the way I am an honorable discharge service member. Thanks for recognizing folks.
I sweat from just sitting there as well. I can go from fit looking to fat in 3 days. Just fill right up with water. Have you had your heart checked? Mine turned into a valve replacement, and pacer at 40year old. Have you spoken with your dr about the sweating? Not trying to be nosy. Just somthing I notice. I still get on a roof everyday. Thank you for the video.
Hey Harvey, lol...where in Tn did you find a sweet rib rub....I make kinda warm spice with a little saline tint to it touched off with lime and a little lemon splashed in a mix including a little TN whiskey for a later glazin' sweep...of coarse, Memphis and Bar BQ ain't never much been related...rofl.. Fine vid Harv, Many Blessings, Kev
