I am presently building a pontoon boat. Doing research to gain ideas for my build. Peddle power was one that I liked. May I suggest: (1) using bigger paddles between two wheels. To fill in the space between the pontoons. (2) Shift your weight (body) forward to keep paddles from being too deep in the water. Paddles on bottom push forward and paddles on top push backward. This cancels most of the power supplied by the peddles. (3) By shifting your body forward you will also reach the rudder handle better. Or, you could sit on the table (with body in center of boat). Now you will be closer to the rudder handle. Place another pair of bows (pointed ends) in front of the paddle wheel. Now you can use your boat more efficiently when you are by yourself. That is how I designed my boat like a canoe (can go forward or backward). I guess you designed your boat for two persons. One to peddle and one to steer. I saw that with two onboard the water was almost to the top of the pontoons. I also counted 8 water bottles. Approximately one cubic foot of air in each one. One cubic foot of air equals about 65 lb. of floatation. Total buoyancy about 520 lb. Have fun and stay safe on the water.
