You are right, we love copper too...my wife likes it especially weathered like it is now....hope this gave you a few ideas for your own rain chain!!! The cutter is actually made for cutting copper, it should last for 1,000 's of cuts, and yes the newer the cutter is the less turns you have to do.... sorry so long to reply, thanks for commenting, pipefittermike

It may seem that way, but i believe it was a 3/4" drill bit i used to make the hole at the top in the bottom of the gutter and the copper pipe it goes into is a 1-1/2"pipe... i didnt want a huge stream of water going into the 1-1/2" pipe.. hmmm..... but as it is, it still splashes everywhere, i guess its just a matter of artistic choice, i could have made it larger but i didnt want water splashing every where.... oh well... i digress...hey thanks for commenting and liking and subscribing i really appreciate it.... i have subscribed to your channel as well, Mike

I HELD IT UP WITH AN EYELET WITH A WOOD SCREW END ON IT, I THEN SCREWED IT INTO THE WOOD OF THE DECK, I THEN ATTACHE THE FIRST RING OF THE RAIN CHAIN TO THAT EYELET THAT I SCREWED INTO THE WOOD, HMMM..... I SHOULD HAVE INCLUDED THAT IN THE VIDEO SORRY, I COULD TRY EMAILING YOU A PICTURE FROM MY I PHONE? I AM AT masons2go@yahoo.com

OKAY... THE ONLY THING I DID DO WAS TO USE A SAND CLOTH ON ALL THE PIECES, BUT I DIDNT DO ANYTHING ELSE...... HMMMM..... IF I WAS TO PROTECT OR ACTUALLY TRY TO PREVENT THEM FROM TURNING GREEN I WOULD HAVE LIGHLTY SPRAYED THEM WITH A SPRAY POLYURETHANE, LET ME LOOK CLOSE AT THEM TODAY AND SEE IF ANY OF THEM HAVE ANY SHADE OF GREEN, I WILL GET BACK TO YOU,MIKE

Thanks Mike. Also..where did you find those ceiling ties to connect the pieces of pipe? I’ve been looking all over for them and the closest thing I can find is aluminum ties, similar to tent pegs.

THE CORRECT NAME FOR THOSE ARE CALLED PIPE JOIST HANGERS AND YOU CAN FIND THEM AT HOME DEPOT, HOPE THIS HELPS...MIKE

Sorry so long to respond, but i really wanted to think about this answer.....my wife and I have had this argument many times, we dont get any mosquitoes because my wife empties the bucket onto our plants and trees, on any day she goes running.... ssoooo we havent noticed any mosquitoes...... but i believe there are some, and there are other water needing bugs flying around there, I have propose a landscape design to put at the bottom that looks like a small volcano, and then at the bottom have it connect to my drain that is right there next to the bucket, but my wife wants no part of it..... she likes taking that water and watering all of our plants around the outside of the house, more work if you ask me when i offered to make a nice little auto drain if you will... oh well i digress, thanks for subscribing, commenting and liking the video, i appreciate it, Mike, i also subscribed to your channel.

i kept trying to explain to my wife that the whole idea is that it should go down to the drain to begin with, and the rain chain is just a temporary pretty departure from the gutter... under neath my bucket is one of the ground flat drains for lawns that i bought at home depot and connected it to my drain in the lawn that goes down to the pond, so any spillage or overflow from the bucket goes there, hope this rambling on was of some help and good luck with your rain chain, thanks, Mike @@tomspallone1868

Michael Mason I was actually thinking of connecting a mini sump pump in a bucket and burying it with nice rocks on top and then, have the water pumped and “misted” throughout the hanging plants and such. I explained this to my wife and she said, “It sounds complicated!” I said, “you know, you’re right. The downspout looks fine! Lol”
