Hej Bernhard, coolproject, nice video! I am using a BrewPi to control my fermentation fridge. But DIY controlling my brewing process is always interesting to me. So keep the videos coming. BTW: I really like the song you chose, but after 15 minutes it was a little monotone. ;)

Hej Oliver, thanks for the kind words! Having anoying songs in the background is my tradition :D I'll try to find a 2nd song for the next video or make it shorter ;)

Hi Bernard, it doesnt work with tipical SSR-40 DA. When I connect all circuit, this relay is alwais on in the GPIOS y selected previously, doesn´t matter if I put "inverter or not". Is there some solution? Many thanks
@BernhardSchlegel
@BernhardSchlegel Год назад
Hey Augustin, sorry to hear that. There's not a whole lot of complexity to that SSR, in theory I believe it should work. Two ideas: make sure that the SSR actually works with the DC control voltage your supplying. If you go straight from the GPIO to the SSR there can be an issue as the GPIO only supplies 3.3V and the SSR might except higher voltages (5V, 20V DC). Also: using an SSR currently has no advantages over a normal relay but the downside that it requires cooling. Please share if you found the solution! Cheers, Bernhard.

@@BernhardSchlegel I didn´t find the solution. Simply I use the same relays than you and it works. Many thanks

hi I have a question. Is it possible to use an orange pi instead of a raspberry pi thanks
@BernhardSchlegel
@BernhardSchlegel 11 месяцев назад
"import RPi.GPIO as GPIO" has to be replaced by "import OPi.GPIO as GPIO" in main.py then it should work. If you succeed I'd love to see a pull request detecting the platform and importing the right thing automatically. Cheers!

Hi Bernard, I am starting brewing and I would like to ask you if I can use the same brick (raspberri pi and same probe) for mashing and after for fermentation or I need a second brick. Please, could you explain me how? Many thanks.
@BernhardSchlegel
@BernhardSchlegel Год назад
Hey Agustin, first of all: congrats - you've picked the best hobby in the world ;) Yep you can, simply create a "fermenter" device, and select the fermenter as device for both mashing and fermentation when you start an automatic process. Cheers

Has anyone modified this system to output 30 amps for the HLT and boil?
@agustinfernandez6279
@agustinfernandez6279 Год назад
Hi Bernhard. I have checked(on the internet) that hydrom hydrometer runs into the app TILT 2. I was wondering if it would be possible to integrate it into "bierbotbrick". Do you use the hydrometer in corny kegs o stainless steel fermenters. I ask you that because of the connectivity. Many thanks
@BernhardSchlegel
@BernhardSchlegel Год назад
Hey Augustin, in stainless steel vessels we use an iSpindel that relies on WiFi. Hydrom and Tilt app may also work. Consult our documentation about how to setup the tilt app. Also, you can reach out to hydrom to provide us a unit so we can integrate it nicely if you want :)

Hi Bernard, I build your "brewing control" (2 relays + 1 probe only) and it works but I have a problem. I have changed the probe ds18b20 for another identical probe ds18b20 (just remove one and put another) and the new one doesn´t work well (it measure -42*C all the time) The same cables, the same conection, etc. Could you help me? Must I do something with te code or run the program again in order to detecting the new probe? Thank you very much P.D: I bought the new one in aliexpress.
@BernhardSchlegel
@BernhardSchlegel Год назад
Did you try to run the setup script again? Untested DS18B20 from china have a higher failure rate than one might think. Cheers, Bernhard
@agustinfernandez6279
@agustinfernandez6279 Год назад
@@BernhardSchlegel I will try that and let you know. Many thanks.
@agustinfernandez6279
@agustinfernandez6279 Год назад
Yes, the solution was to run again the script. It works, but if you change the probe, you have to run the script again. That's all. Many thanks
@BernhardSchlegel
@BernhardSchlegel Год назад
The reason for that is that the probe ID is transmitted to our backend so you can configure probe ID specific offsets for calibration on the /bricks page
