Another great project Shara. You must have a thousand ideas / plans inside your head. I think this would be a good thing for a home office or even a Den. Always great work. Have a great weekend. Steve
Thanks so much! I do have too many ideas some times. Some are good. Some not so good 🤣 but I share them all either way. I appreciate you watching and following along. Have a great weekend as well 😎
I wondered how a " lazy Suzan " was installed. I never have seen the working mechanics of one before. Fairly straightforward. I like your shirt that has your catch phrase. Thanks for sharing Ms. Shara
I love make by me! I tried sketchup several times but learning curve was to steep for me. Make by me is so easy. Cut list and material summary is perfect. I’ve designed and built several projects in the last few months with this program.
I made a rotating rack once with a similar base as this. I struggled with how to attach the lazy Susan. DUH! Now it makes complete sense. Thanks for sharing.
Another great project! Thanks for sharing your ideas and insights into building this amazing Lazy-Susan bookshelf. I like the design with the side pockets! These are perfect for magazines, cookbooks, etc. Nice to see Lou & Bub make an appearance…. Lol. Your step by step instructions are always great! Keep on building! Have a great weekend Shara!!
Thanks so much for taking the time to watch! I’ve used lazy Susan’s in the past a few times and every time I do I think “I need to use these more often” 🤣 they’re just so much fun. I hope you have a great weekend too! 😎
I probably would have placed some blocks behind the drawer pull if I had a wider item. Not sure how that would look on the build though. Great job as always
I fell in love with rotating bookshelves the first time I worked in an office that had two of them. Love this project! Thanks for sharing! Have a great weekend. Greetings from Berlin, Germany.
They’re so handy-especially for an office! I actually gave this one to a friend for next to her desk 😊 I appreciate you watching and hope you have a great weekend as well!
Clever, simple way to mount the mechanism. The only caution is to consider the weight capacity of the mechanism (which is not always listed in the specs). Books are heavy and you can pack a lot of them in.
Thanks! The load capacity is 1000 lbs. I actually took it off this really tall project I used for several years until I recently recycled the parts: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pnvwgAScKOw.htmlsi=-oWyNgYnyxKazKyZ
Very nice build. It looks to be scalable up as well. My fiancée is a school counselor who could use something like this but at three levels as opposed to two. Thanks for the inspiration!
Very cool idea. I used the Kreg rip cut based on your recommendation on a recent cabinet project and it worked well. I still only use it for rough dimensioning but it is a very convenient way to break down sheets of plywood. Thanks
The Rip Cut is one of my all time favorite tools. Before getting it, I hated working with plywood. Now it’s my favorite material. I just needed a good way to cut it haha. I’m glad you find it helpful as well. Happy building!
Shara, I got excited about this project when I saw it last week while I was ordering your plans for the Shoe Bench. Actually I'm in discussions with my Wife right now and it's more of a question of how many rather than whether to build or not! Ha! Maybe we should start out with a proto type first? Our weather is start to cool off here so we're also looking at your hoodie sweatshirts as well. I don't see too much concern about anything from Lucy and Bubby. Hugs to them both. Hope you have a great week. Thanks for Sharing! 🙃🙂
I appreciate your support of my small business! I’m actually in the process of building another shoe bench as I’ve had several requests for them lately. I’m always up for a fresh design haha. I hope you’re enjoying that project and I hope you enjoy this one too! Im glad it’s cooking off there! I’m waiting patiently for the cooler weather to stick around but every time I get out a hoodie, it gets hot again 🤦🏼♀️ one of these days haha! Bubs and Lou must trust I’ve got it under control (which isn’t always true haha). I appreciate their confidence 🤣 I hope you and your wife have a wonderful weekend and I appreciate you following along!
This is great! Have a couple oversize books and this is a good solution to display them with just one ledge per side. Had a similar issue with some handles that tried to use to make a tray and my finger barely fit to lift it 😅
One ledge on each side for extra large books is a great idea and a nice way to display your favorites 😊 Yeah, I should have paid closer attention to the handle dimensions before buying 🤣🙈 live and learn haha
Hmm , I'm looking at this and wondering how it would work as a small tool rolling storage cart. I really don't need a book shelf. But I do need a small tool rolling storage cart. 😊 And this looks like it can be converted into what I'm wanting.
Hi, Shara. I'm thinking that this would be an excellent fit beside the easy chair where I have my computer and where I watch you create these cool projects. Thanks for the video.
Perfect for next to a chair! I was kind of thinking that too! Maybe a little shorter so it’s perfect height to set drinks or plates for snacks (my priorities haha). I appreciate you watching and hope you have an amazing weekend! Thank you for following along 😊
That turned out really well. It would be great for a record holder or magazine display. I like the rotational aspect of it. For at least 2 years I've wanted something like a portable desk that sits on the floor. Something that has hidden drawers to store pencils and drawing supplies. Think of it as a cross between a bed tray (the kind with four legs that people use for breakfast in bed) and an architects desk only on a smaller scale. It would probably be around the height of a coffee table but not as long. However, with the exception of helping to build a wooden step bench many years ago, I've never built anything. Now I'm wondering if the app that you mentioned could help me get a better idea of the height, width and other important information that I'd need to build it? So I'm glad that you mentioned it. And again, I like your rotational book shelf. Btw, both pets looked so chill while you were building the bookshelf.
MakeByMe is great for visualizing your projects. It might could help you kind of piece the parts together and see how it’ll work and look and decide the size to make things. That sounds like such a great project idea!
@@WoodshopDiaries I'll be honest I thought of sketching it many, many times but realized that I had no idea what the dimensions should be. So thank you for even mentioning the app. I'm glad that I watched your video earlier.
This is a truly versatile piece and the design concept is adaptable to other uses, as you mentioned in your outro… one could scale this up for storage and display of larger items, or go pint-sized for a kitchen spice or tool rack! And the Make by Me app would make quick work of that. Good fresh idea, nicely done! And hi to the fur babies 😁
The fur babies say hi back! I sure do enjoy their company while I’m working. They’re not much help but they cheer me on 😆 a kitchen spice rack would be a great idea for this I hadn’t even though of! Thank you for that idea! I have a smaller lazy Susan I could totally use for that! I truly appreciate you following along and I really hope you have a wonderful weekend! 😎
Great Idea! I have two questions: (1) How "reusable" are pocket holes when you removed the panel then had to reattach? (2) How much weight can the Lazy Susan hold and still spin easily?
Thanks so much! I’m not sure I know how to answer your first question. They’re completely reusable-no issues unscrewing then reattaching. I didn’t drill new holes. In regards to the weight, the lazy Susan I linked in the description of this video (which is the exact one I used here) is rated for 1000 lbs.
How many teeth are on your circular saw blade and how does it affect your cuts? Your cuts are much smoother/cleaner than when I rip plywood and cut 2x4s.
Haha I beat you to it 😆 I’ve been looking at record storage ideas so it was already in my brain. I don’t have any records myself but there are so many neat ideas to make for them. I may have to collect a few!
Is there a way I can save your project into a group? I don't want to have to search for it each time I want to find it. Thanks in advance...I am planning on making this for my Daughter in-law for her classroom.
I’ve been storing mine on its side for years-either in the cart or on the floor leaning on the cart. I’ve not found it to be an issue, but location and moisture levels (and the plywood itself) could certainly play a part.
