So when they said "...we're gonna show you how we do it...", they just meant "Show you a montage not really show you what we're doing". well then.

Yes, that is the overview video. Sorry about that. These two get into the weeds with more detail. There might be a third one we forgot to publish but I think we have that and it'll be up soon. -- ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-z1sEzBmpibs.html -- ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Hw6Mr0IKc6I.html

I forget who did this. It might be Jeff Devlin's brother's band. I don't know though.

Hi how would this work If I need to use 6x6 posts in the ground? Would it work the same?
@myfixituplife
@myfixituplife 8 лет назад
+peter spizzirri You'd have to change connection details Pete. We used the L-shaped corner post as structure, corner board, and connection point for the cladding. If you hurl 6-by up there, get it locked down fast to keep it straight. Larger timbers like 6-by is ideal under load, not upright in the air without other stuff connected to it. You can make it work well. Also, they'll be heavy. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks!

Stephen Moss what's up?
@myfixituplife
@myfixituplife 8 лет назад
It depends Peter. Structurally, it's strong enough in my opinion. The difference would be in the trim details. You'd need 'nailers' to fasten the cladding to, similar to the nailers we used on our corner posts. Let me know if this helps. --Mark

No concerns using pressure treated wood?
@myfixituplife
@myfixituplife 7 лет назад
Not at all. PT is--and has always been--super safe. There's no science anywhere I'm aware of that says otherwise.
@erkme73
@erkme73 7 лет назад
interesting, I remember local parks having their pressure-treated playsets removed due to the arsenic in the material used for the pressure treating. I'll do a little bit research and post back here.
@erkme73
@erkme73 7 лет назад
this is from Web MD... Treated Wood Is a Risk for Kids Arsenic in pressure-treated wood -- used in play sets, decks, and picnic tables across the country -- poses an increased risk of cancer to kids who play and eat on wood surfaces, according to the EPA. Many outdoor wooden structures in the U.S. are made from arsenic-based treated wood. While the wood industry phased out production of this type of wood in 2003, existing structures are still a concern. so it looks like if the PT wood is definitely not arsenic based it should be ok. guess I'm showing my age.
@myfixituplife
@myfixituplife 7 лет назад
This was over 10-years ago, and still there is no science showing this is an issue. There is naturally occurring arsenic in the soil every day. The formulations for PT have been changed many, many times since this change you refer to.

Only costs you about $2,000 in material, not counting time spent on it... lol

That's probably a decent guess. I'm not sure what the materials costs were. We did this one a few years ago.
