@@nerdebynature Ah, glad to hear it! I’m in the rhythm of setting them up then taking them apart again at the moment. Helps to have the board and power supply in place I find. Thanks so much! 🎸
i just found your channel and i see its the first video thats not a short. I'd love to see something about different tunings, chords, different technique of playing, more in depth cause there not a lot of shoegaze stuff for musician on youtube sadly. I play guitar for almost 20 years and i can't do half what you did you got real talent !
Thanks so so much for the kind words. All that stuff is coming up. Doing a bit of a longer video was a bit of an experiment and I’ve very much enjoyed it. More to come. So glad you stopped by 🎸
That’s an absolutely gorgeous Jag you’ve got there. Thoroughly enjoyed the video, I’m always interested in what fellow noisemakers are using to generate their brand of aural madness compared to what I use. Subscribed!
@@donewithmodernlife ah cheers. Yeah, I love the Mystic Dakota Red 🎸 Glad you enjoyed it and thanks! I just like seeing people nerd out over stuff haha.
Your descriptions are actually spot on. It DOES sound like a Wizard in a cave, an Electric Wizard. And that description of a Granular Delay is pretty spot on laymans description of granular processing. If you ever get a chance to read it, Curtis Rhodes Microsound book gives great coverage and it's a good book to skim through, at least parts of.
@@compucorder64 Ah thanks so much. I really appreciate that. Good shout on that book. Will have a look. Yeah, the Afterneath really takes me to places. Very ‘visual’ sound, if that makes sense 🎸
Love all these sounds. I may have to pick up that rusty fuzz. Another weird delay option is the dd8 with the reverse setting. I turn the time pretty low, the feedback around 1 o clock, and the volume at 12. I have a boss ph3 on the fall setting going into that if my dirt pedals are off. I like to think of it as a bubbling or gurgling noise. Pretty damn fun.
@@briangarcia8384 honestly it’s great. Especially for the price. The reason I’m after the DD-8 is for the reverse, analog and glitch settings. Really underrated delay. Thanks so much! 🎸
You seem to be doing this on the cheep. You could use a Microcosm, glitches and modulations for days. Maybe a looper, and step up your delay to at least a line 6 DL-4 mark II. Presets. Tap tempo and a looper, and a dual delay. And a Bit crusher would be nice, like the data corruptor for weird solos and monster riffs. I think you have a good start but need to push that board a little further. Good call on the slicer (which im gonna have to get now) and the afterneath.
Walrus Fable is the most expensive on here I think. I have an HX Stomp which has the DL. I like that pedal but can’t really justify it since I basically already have access to it there. I have a looper but don’t really care for them. Also have an Ottobit jr. but haven’t really got my head around it yet. Definitely would go with this board though. Not really interested in the Microcosm but have considered it. It feel like it just sounds like a Microcosm. This board is definitely a simplified version of others I’ve used. Cheers 🎸
Oh, and I think a RAT is a good choice to go with Acapulco Gold. And can also do everything from Shoegaze to full doom. Acapulco Gold & Rat can get you into full bore MBV mode. Or with the also great and cheap EHX Octavix even Sunn O))) Life Pedal territory. I really like the TC Magus Pro, because it's cheap, small and I think better than the newer standard Proco RAT because of that. And also because you get three voicings, standard, FAT, & Turbo. I especially like the latter. And the FAT RAT mode, and Plumes, are both good for grinding Kim Gordon style bass tone too. Similar story with using the volume to adjust the level, then the RAT can do everything from Boost, to Distortion to near Fuzz. It's a very versatile and playable pedal. Above the TC, and the EHX Green Russian reissue, I really like the Way Huge Green Pickle, it can get really unhinged if you want to. But it's very tuneable and controllable too.
@@compucorder64 yeah! I’ve actually got a drone metal video where I combine the Acapulco, Woolley Mammoth and Joyo Splinter (Fat Rat clone). Was a while ago and I didn’t do that good a job of it haha. Pyroclasts by Sunn O))) massively inspired it. Definitely going to do a doom pedalboard video and maybe drone. Also thinking about doing a high gain combo type thing. A few ideas anyway haha.
@@chrisegonmusic Ah, I missed that. I only just subscribed. A Doom, & Drone pedalboard video would be very cool. I'm puzzling out those sounds now. With a Guild Polara, and a P90 Gibson Les Paul Special, into an Orange Rocker 30. Settled on the Acapulco Gold, TC Magus Pro RAT & Way Huge Green Pickle. For Drone, though more coming from the synth side, I love my Soma Cosmos, Chase Bliss Mood mk.II, OBNE Dark Star, Meris Polymoon & Meris Mercury X. OBNE Sunlight would be cool too, as well as their Beam Splitter. That Infiniti pedal too.
@@compucorder64 I’ve been very close to getting a Guild Polara! I’ve got the Meris Enzo and Ottobit but am really just scratching the surface with them. Thanks for the sub!
Interesting combination :) one question though, if your signal goes from the slicer into the compressor I would assume the change in volume from the slicer interferes with the compressor, since this would try to level out the volume changes.
@@MaikeruSumisu cheers! Yeah that’s interesting and a great question! I think that mostly applies to a sine wave style tremolo, which the Slicer can do but I use it as more of a stutter, on/off. Maybe there’s something happening there but nothing that I’ve noticed too much. I like compression after a fading delay as there’s definitely some interaction there. I don’t think I’ll ever fully understand compression. My relationship with it continues to get slightly better throughout the years 🎸
@@chrisegonmusic yes, true, if it's only on/off then there is no signal left to compress/enhance. I love tremolo (or similar modulation effects) after fuzz or reverb to really bring all that texture alive. Regarding compression, I understand it from a theoretical point of view, but somehow my ears never got there 😅 for me, I always used it as a sound-shaping tool
@@MaikeruSumisu I lost so much sleep over compression 😂 I put several tremolos in a chain sometimes actually. At the start and end of the chain. I feel like humans love tremolo for some reason haha.
Nice pedal choices. Have you ever used any death by audio pedals? I am also using the slicer as a termalo pedal, I had originally gotten it to use on my synths.
Thanks! I haven’t but I love A Place to Bury Strangers. First album is one of my favourites of that ilk. I’m definitely interested in trying Fuzz War 🎸
