First part in a series of videos explaining how to build a drop-rail street luge out of wood. I try to be as clear as possible and explain it so everyone can understand it and build themselves a nice luge. Sorry its boring! I just wanted to be as clear as possible to avoid any confusion. Part-2 will be up soon. Comment if you have questions or concerns. Thanks! Like the video if you plan on building one!

Don't use those because they are very large and they are hard. The harder and smaller they are the hotter they get...higher RPM the smaller the wheel. They WILL MELT if they are too small. Go for larger, softer longboard-ish wheels.

@BlueTiger368 hey there sorry its taken a while to get back to you. Try to find large longboard wheels i wouldnt go much smaller than 77mm (bigger is better) and make sure they have a low durometer (hardness rating) im currently using ones that are 78a i wouldnt go past 85 on the high side though.

In reality you are far safer to use Alloy Box section, and either drilled and tapped or TIG Welded, IMHO a drop rail from timber will simply not handle the potential stresses at the drop point unless carriage bolted all the way through with reinforcing plates both sides ( Like a Gang Nail ) to give structure to the joint in a similar fashion to the way Timber Spar's were laminated for Aircraft.

@ThePaalanBoy Aluminium is the metal. Find some 6061T6 aluminium and it will work way better.

@zdunlap22 Even 78a durometer is hard......Look at Abec 11 wheels.....Super soft and big....

I made it by myself. I used woodprix scripts for that.

what size screws do you need

I think I used 1.5 and 3 inch wood screws. Just don't use ones that are too long to the point they'll come out the other side of the wood.

thats not how you build a street luge in any way. its how to build a "fun board". Want to build a street luge use metal not wood and street luge wheels with wider width and ceramic bearings for high speed. those look like loongboard or plain scateboard wheels
