Have you considered selling your ground mixes? Soil and tile grout and so on. Some of us (i.e. me) live in places with really high clay content soil so when I bake it it just turns into shitty pottery and I don't really have the time and good-will to be stealing the oven to try and bake various different soils.
Really like your channel man! Its given me a lot more drive to get back into the hobby. I'm still pretty skint from moving house but I'm hoping to give your products a try soonish. Also really looking forward to the battle reports! :-) Keep it up! Thanks again
Luke, I have a bunch of mineral spirits left over from redoing my hardwood floors, I was wondering if there was a practical use for mineral spirits in hobbying?
Yes, you can make washes with them. Luke is right, it's specific to oil paints, you can add oil paint to the mineral spirits to make a wash (no ratios, just test) and then slop it all over and you can clean it back up even when its dry, with clean mineral spirits, hope that helped!
TheBigEB2589 honestly it depends man, I can show you some examples on Instagram if you have one just let me know and I'll DM you, but I would say Luke's washes are overall great for everything (terrain and miniatures) where as the oil ones, I feel like are the best for miniatures, especially things that you want a clean look on like a mech/robot because it's super easy to wipe up panels after and just have it sit in recesses! But definitely let me know your Instagram and I'll show ya
Buy a bag of "Ballast" from any of the big DIY merchants. You get sand, fine gravel, medium gravel, larger gravel, (and some pretty useless larger stones - about 20mm in size) all in one bag, just sift it with granny grating, a food seive, mutton cloth etc... and you end up with a good amount of each size for VERY little money at all. Mine cost me £2.07 (About $1.80) for a large bag full.
Too bad, you cannot just translate some stuff you use one to one. The fine sand you are using (soil) means just "ground sand" in german. A more "technical definition" would be helpfull. I just tried to figure out which sand is very fine and i found quartz sand is quite fine.
