Sir, I work with Veterans, who battle PTSD. I’ve introduced them to the hobby, because hobbies are great for them. For Our Troops Sake, is just me, and some of your viewers, have sent me cards, for my Bets to trade, or keep. Just wanted to express my gratitude to them. Your videos, and the kindness from your viewers, give them hours of pleasure. Thank you all so very much. Sincerely, LT Quinn Mallonee🇺🇸
Hey love the video. Love any video out there where someone is showing what they collect especially when it takes time and effort. Although it would depend on the set you are trying to collect as I saw one comment already about possibly not being able to afford a lot. Depending on the expensiveness of the set. I think a few other ways to collect an Old Vintage set. Are by starting with the most expensive / & or biggest cards in the set. Or vice versa start the other way with the cheapest commons you can afford and work your way up the set, but they are all good ways and lots get you more cards at once.
Super video Eric. Fantastic information on building a set. The 57 cards look great. I look forward to seeing it completed. Congrats on the 69 pickups. Thanks for sharing. Enjoyed.
You got some nice cards in there. You got the Roy Face. I do a ton of research on the players from this ERA and man he was one heck of a Pitcher. Johnny Logan was another baller who does not get any mention. The Pafko looks great. 1957...this is one of my favorite sets from the 50's, but heck i love all the sets. Lol. Always enjoy and thanks for sharing with us my friend.
I want to build a Vintage Set economically!!! This looks like a great start in a binder, in order! Great start for a great set! Some shiny cards to add to Sox set too! Love ALL the sets!
Sound advice. As a 60 year old myself, complete sets in any year from 50's even through 1973 when cards were issued the last time in a series is getting tough, even if a set is just VG. Complete sets are far and few between these days cause everyone is selling individual cards.
Definitely the best way to build a set but most times I am not able to afford a big lot at one time so have to pick cards up in smaller portions. Great looking 57 starter set! You’re well on the way
That's probably the smartest way to build a vintage set (unless of course you have the cash). Now it's time to grab all those HOF rookies! Congrats with getting so far so soon.
Came across your video and enjoyed it very much. I’ve been thinking of buying complete sets/large lots like this in order to help kill 2 or 3 birds with one stone for a few projects I started.
@@the_card_closet November of last year i started a HOF all decades set for the 70's, 80's and 90's. I'd like to get all the HOF Topps cards from those decades. I'm using the PSA registry checklist to help identify all bazillion of them haha! I have 174/670 for the 80's and 57/672 for the 70's ... definitely slow progress due to budgets but i'm chipping away. Thought buying some 70's sets would be cheaper than buying the individual cards!
Forgot to add i'm putting this together w/raw cards. Not too much into grading all that much unless it's a good deal it's just way cheaper to buy cards when i buy raw and just something about the nostalgia of the cardboard itself
so what your saying is you don't want 1's and 2's but you also don't want 8's or 10's you want 5's or 6's correct? there are plenty of stars of this set? did you show any of these players?? Ted Williams, Yogi, willie Mays , Don Drysdale,, Homerun king, Whitey Ford,, Peewee Reese, Ernie Banks, , Gil Hodges, Roberto Clemente , Mickey Mantle ,, Warren Spahn ,Al Kaline ? none of these are commons , so if somebody say age 24 as an example wants to get into vintage cards what player would you suggest? 1. Roberto Clemente which years? 1. Yogi Berra which years? 1. Homerun king 1. Willie Mays, Willie Mccovey 1. Sandy Koufax 1. Maury Wills 1. Mickey Mantle 2. Robin Roberts which years 3. Clete Boyer which years 4. Red Schoendist which years 5. Bob Lemon 1. Willie Stargel 1. Mike Schmidt which years 1. Robin Yount 1. Johnny Bench which years 1. Carlton Fisk which years? 1. Rod Carew which years 1. Alan Trammell 1. Lou Brock which years 1. Ted Simmons which years 1. 1978 Red Sox Rice , Evens , Lynn Yaz , Remy 1. Nolan Ryan which years? 1. Ferguson Jenkins which years? 1. Tom Seaver which years? if somebody asked you what do you think about smaller stars what would you say? 1. Graig Nettles 1. Ken Singleton 1. Cecil Cooper 1. Dave Kingman 1. Rusty Staub
That's right. For stars, I have teddy, mickey, mays, and spahn so far. I'd recommend a 24 year old collect most of those players. The years would be different for each player, but how about the first 2 and last 2 topps cards of each.
@@the_card_closet for some players the first 2 years would be very expensive like Mantle , Mays, but for Johny Bench, Alan Trammell, Carlton Fisk would be affordable Lou Brock I guess would be ok.
