If you spread mortar onto the end of each brick before putting it in place you won’t need to make a separate action of filling the gap. Also it’s a good idea to dunk your bricks in a bucket of water before building with them; it stops them sucking the moisture out of your mortar mix, which means you end up with a stronger bond. 👍🏻 Nice water cistern! Being able to store water is always good.
