If you had a zombie dropper in all 4 directions, you could have 3 doors up and one down to make their pathing in one direction, but then if the path was destroyed by a demo etc. you would have 3 other redundancy paths they could take by dropping one of the other doors down... If ya get me. :)
This is the first time he introduced those support block but not the first time the zombies attack the pillars below. So there has to be a different solution to this problem
The Pole 4 way works as a path if you make the path 2 wide. Then fill the path with the "Ramp 6m #3" It's wide enough to block the sides so they have to run between the 2 4 way blocks which forms a square for them to drop. Also. it can be used in place of the scaffold ladder, but you need to be standing on catwalk plates to get headshots. Anything thicker and you're too high for cop spit to get through.
@@JaWoodle The holes are a little bigger, makes it far easier to use granades and molotovs to throw through them in comparison to scaffolding ladders which you basically can't use mototovs or granades with as the hole is so tiny than you nearly always just hit yourself.
Thick chunks of pineapple and bacon on pizza, ice cold pineapple soda with pineapple and vanilla soft serve on top. Pineapple teriyaki burger is good too.
The new parts are great, so happy for you! I run the 790-E model with a 13700k. It's a solid setup. Just steer clear of the i9 chips, Intel dropped the ball on them and there are issues in 13th and 14th gens. You are gonna love getting to turn up the settings more. Last bit of advice, make sure you get a case that will allow proper airflow, these 40 series cards are chonkers.
my thoughts exactly.. I'm sure Jawoodle has said his gaming PC has a 3070 or something, even replacing just the GPU would make a difference with gaming.
Regarding the 4 way pole blocks, the way they work as pathing is that you need to build them 2 blocks wide then use half blocks to funnel them to the inner halves. This way they are running on a pathable block which is actually a series of holes. A single file of zombies generally make it across but if you place this just before your scaffolding ladder wall of your bunker then zombies that congregate have a good chance of falling through. IMO, more effort and construction materials required compared to your zombie dropper or 0.025 pillars (depending on your cheese preference)
I like the door drawbridge too but i put it in so it opens downward and that way you don't need the poles to hold it up and when it's closed it's flush with the path.
If you move the dropper to the next corridor over (the one with the door, but of course sufficiently far away from you), it would give you two full lengths (in the first, one sided form) for headshots. after all, you pretty much left "symmetricality" in the dust already. I like this approach a lot, will be using it one way or another. cheers!
This base is pretty much what I have been using since alpha 17 was in experimental. Though I use a different dropper (there are a lot of them out there) but I use the "Catwalk V2 Rail Only Double Double End" as the between pillar supports, as they turn invisible when placed between blocks. Side Note: after a drop they go into destroy everything if they are within 11 of you yes, but if they GET within 11 of you during a count down after they drop they go into destroy as well, so the distance between the drop and the stairs back up matter, because if they get within 11 of you before the timer is up, they go into destroy everything (hence the party girl attacking pillars, she was back within 11 of you on top of the path and the timer was not over. But that does not account for the others that start6ed attacking the pillars from the top.
@@theAkornTree That I don't know, I have heard multiple statements but have never seen someone actually test it, I have heard from 15-20 seconds and even heard 30. Maybe that is something we can get Woodle to test for us :)
You could make 4 different paths an just have the 3 other paths door open. So when they destroy the path they currently using then just close the door on 1 of the other 3 paths. Great video an great design. I also made the snake path maze you made in another video which works well for me.
Josh, I notice that they seem to start beating on the blocks when it's a single-wide block path they follow. They get locked behind slower zeds and can't advance past them, so they start trying to beat a new pathway. Perhaps run tandem paths or a 3-wide with staggered droppers on the outside edges forcing towards the middle to a final dropper w/pit or to a .025 pillar with a 15+ drop...
Aw poor Josh! I'd be your friend mate! 😂 I can point and click with a gun well enough but I don't have any patience for base building and troubleshooting designs for horde bases!
i mean youve done some brief collabs with other 7dtd content creators you could always do a playthrough with somebody and then you could enjoy the communal base joy. and we could enjoy the possible muppetry that ensues.
Nice and interesting hordebase concept. Will def test it, but last horde when they destroyed half a killing corridor for me i noticed at times the Zs would stop pathing, hit themselves and then some random blocks, so looking for something to build that would survive even if they did this random smashing. 🤔 This, with day 70 test, might be it. So if this was also high up they wouldn't start smashing the pillars after the fall?
As Josh said, the 4 sides aren't really needed (with enough ammo and repair kits) so you could make all 4 separate but with the door open on 3 of them until needed. Redundancy is a good thing. And yes, make it tall to stop destructive mode.
Johsy boy finally gettin that PC upgrade. Happy for you man. Edit: I been using the pole 4 way with the pole center as a 90 degree turn and due to the pole center size a lot of the runners will just run off the corner. But using full cubes as your path that isn't gonna work I don't believe due to the width of the cube compared to the pole center. I have seen some others rotating and using it in place of scaffold ladders, I don't like that due to some other things you gotta do to make it work. (maybe at the bottom of your fighting postion as they can't squeeze through and you can reach through to repair/open a door for a zombie dropper. It's an option, I don't see it as a game changer or anything though.
The Pole 4 Way needs a 2 block wide path for it to work as a "dropper" (more like a "thinner") with constricting the sides of it so that they're walking into a 1 block wide center (so half blocks left and right so they're walking in the middle and over the holes).
Very happy for you on the new parts. You deserve it! your content is fun and funny any company the joins with you is smart! you make a good representative of enjoyment!
cool base man , try to make it as the ultimate horde base with also mele post and add some drts trap and electical , that could be very good multi horde base
I'd just replicate what you did initially on each side, then you have 3 redundant dropper runs. Also, have the stairs at the tower end so you can deal with any issues and it may also draw them away from the base of the tower. (would need 4 lanes tho)
heres a question, I dont know if it has been asked but here goes. Does the 7 blocks high count towards the 11 blocks to be away from you when they drop?
Great design! I would only suggest moving the dropper around the corner on the 3rd lane, just so your own rounds won't hit it (repairs are tedious). I'd also add at least one more set of stairs for backup if I ran all 4 directions with multiple players (maybe two 6-lane sections).
Nice base you just built there! Can you tell me which key you use for showing the zombies activities, like "has path" or "destroy everything"? Keep up the great work and greetings from germany!
that 4 way pole is great vs cop spit comming in at you but zombies can push threw unless anouther block put on the side you on i seen it in anouther video of cop spit.
be carful with those rog boards, they like to overlock ur cpu to the max, u have to go bios and limit it, and that dont always keep the setting, they like to cook ur cpu
I really want to know what makes the zombies stop at the pillars and attack the block beneath them. I've been putting an extra block underneath the block by the tower just in case but it's not fool proof.
Zombies were once human and there have always been people who just want to see the world burn. Those are the zombies that randomly just start attacking objects instead of running the path to you.
Nice, you gonna have trouble if you do a 14900/13900 intel cpu. Dont do it, seems like Intel doesnt even know what the issue is. Go down the product stack to the more stable intel cpus or get an amd cpu and amd motherboard. Amd top end cpus are just simply better currently at the top, especially after intel keeps lowering the power targets for 13 and 14900. Go for a threadripper or 7950x for that editing.
hey amazing videos, but can you make a video on why when you make this but allittle bit further away from you they start breaking instead of going up the stairs like i did 30 blocks away from the 5x5 and the 30th block being top of the staircase and it did not work, but i counted each block individually as you placed them and then the last bit i counted using your painted block show piece and it works when you do it short but adding 10 more blocks so dropper is further it doesn't work and they break below.. EDIT: could you also make a video on 1.0 blocks that zombies cannot path through so say this concept of a design but your base is next to this so u can go from this to base and it still be the only pathing.
My pc just melted the other day ... For the 4 Pole you can use them instead of the scafolding ladder too And if used as a droper you need to have it 2 wide and the halfblocks at the side to get the space in the middle for them to Fall
I set up base in the mauseleum in the pine forest and want to use a force field, but I cant remember what block is used, I was wondering if you could let me which one it is and if it still works in 1.0. many thanks from the U.K
Also thanks for doing the late game zombies ap ammo might be a issue if you get arlines and demos mixed higher chance to tickle them but yea that works for me next question how can you light them on fire i think the old alpha 15 or somthing had the fire place damage but thats been removed i think. I like a day 7 Bbq i want to invite them all for a sizzle 😂😂😂
Careful Josh, ASUS been having a lot problems lately on getting warranty stuff, But 2080 to 4070 is good upgrade. i went from XFX RX 580 to 79000 GRE, games now you need at least 12 to 16 GB Vram
I built your last horde base and i stand ~15 blocks away from where they fall and they still attack underneath me. They don't even need to fall to attack. Sometimes they just start attacking right from the get go. Can you test this theory with an actual horde night using 16+ zombies and see if you see this too?
This happens when there's too many zombies to path down a single line and/or a slower one is in the lead. The faster ones can't pass, so the ones on approach to the pathing point of the base (ie, the ones on the ground making their way to the stairs) don't go into destroy area (where they attack the nearest block) but instead will go to the closest block to where you're standing and start beating on it. If that happens, widen the approach path/stairs to 2-3+ blocks, and narrow to a one block path a block or two before the dropper so the race cars can pass the semi's before falling off... If that makes sense.
Hey, welcome back! Yep, 1.0 just came out and with it comes a lot of new players who may not be as well versed and skilled at the game as you, so they might be looking for base ideas that aren't from Alpha 17. So I figure in between the hundreds of playthrough and challenge videos I have made, I could post some interesting base builds that they might be looking for. Thanks for checking in, though! 💜
