The Minecraft Survival Guide Season 2 continues! And it's time to up our XP game.
This tutorial will show you how to build an Enderman farm, also called an Ender Ender by the community. This farm spawns Endermen at a spectacular rate, fills a double chest of ender pearls within a few short minutes, and as an XP farm, it creates XP faster than the player can collect it!
This is Gnembon's EnderMini farm design, which you can find on his channel at • EnderMINI - Simple End... (and a revised version at • Enderman Farm and Spaw... ) if you're interested in a deeper explanation of the spawning mechanics.

To take this a step further, it's very convenient to setup an enchantment table with the book shelves, extra chests, ender chest, grind stone, and anvil to farm for the exact enchantments you want. Like you mentioned, it's also very convenient to setup a button/lever with some redstone and redstone lamps to control when the endermen spawn. Having this farm is amazing. Great tutorial!

Couple of tips for people just from experience and personal preference. If you build the farm a couple of blocks higher than 0 it leaves you extra space for redstone and storage if you decide you want to make tweaks later. The ender pearls fill up the hoppers and storage very quickly and to an excess of what you'll ever need, so it's also an option to swap the hoppers out for trap doors and when you're done using the farm you open the trap doors and dispense the pearls into the void so you don't have a bunch of extra entities laying around. You'll likely fill up your inventory just using the farm, so you won't really be missing out on any enderpearls.
@Raskolnikov70
@Raskolnikov70 2 года назад
Making a special sword for the farm is useful too - give it all the buffs like Sharpness V and Sweeping Edge III but leave off the Looting. Makes the ender pearl problem a lot less of a pain.

Digging down the obsidian pillars is also a good way to get to y0. It is also a convenient place for a bubble column back up. You have to remake it if you summon the End Dragon, but by that time i am usually flying to and from my Enderman farm.
@Lea_D.
@Lea_D. 2 года назад
Ooh, that's a nice idea (being careful not to break that bottom block!), especially if you like to get obsidian from the pillars. Even if you plan to respawn the dragon, you could always build an elevator at a spot further out by the edge of the island once you've made the platform out to the farm. That would be much less scary than going down a waterfall to y0.

I stayed up a bit too late and built this in Bedrock. It works there too. Better than any of my mob spawner xp farms. More XP, faster spawns, free enderpearls. But, as Pixlriffs alludes to, the results aren't anywhere near as spectacular as they are on Java. I followed another commenter's advice and built it twice as far out with a bigger spawn platform.

Tip for villager fletcher trades: I made a bamboo farm based on your automatic sugar cane farm, and let it run in the background underground at my home base. Since 2 bamboo = 1 stick, and it grows so fast, I always have fletcher trades available. And, as you showed in your older skyblock series, I also added 2 chickens in the farm to produce eggs for wither rose farming. Still doesn't match an enderman farm, but it helped get me to my all emerald beacon.

For the build up of Ender pearls, you could do what i do, make a sword with all the good enchantments, but without looting. I leave that sword in an item frame at the Enderman farm. Alternatively, you could add a dispenser/dropper to the hoppers and use an observer clock to spit them out in to the void, using that with a non looting sword will get rid of the perals very quickly

I built the Gnembon Ender-MINI after Pixlriffs mentioned it in season 1 of the Survival Guide. It's a great farm! But it really is scary to build. The biggest obstacle I had was getting the damn endermite into the mine cart. There's a couple of issues: 1. throwing pearls does a bit of damage to the thrower, so you kind of need armor. (Pix mentions this in the video.) 2. Endermites have 8 HP so they are incredibly easy to accidentally kill. Pix didn't mention it in the video but this is one instance where you DO NOT want the Thorns enchantment on your armor. I know Pixlriffs has a general no-Thorns policy, but for some of us that extra bit of help is necessary. So I found myself making temporary armor, which took a bit of extra time. Then there's the issue of getting the thing into the cart, once you have nametagged it and not accidentally killed it and not accidentally pushed it over the edge of the platform. I found myself making an enclosed area so that *I* wouldn't fall off the edge too. All in all it was a great farm and I'm glad I built it but, yeah, there are some definite butt-clench moments building over the void and dealing with annoying mobs. If you're patient and careful though, you should have no problem replicating the build.
@gentlefarmer9013
@gentlefarmer9013 2 года назад
All those difficulties you mention. plus even though they don't do much damage, endermite damage adds up because you don't want to kill it, and you can't run away since you are trying to coax it into the spot you want. That said, well worth it. Enderman XP farms are something I always build as soon as I can manage.

You should start working on a guardian farm, considering you have both fairly powerful gear and conduits. Though guardians also drop 10 do like enderman, players tend to absorb XP from guardians better than endermans for some reason. Another good idea would be to make a gold do farm, and you can setup a cleric trading hall below the farm to trade off the excess rotten flesh for extra XP. You can also keep a grindstone there and disenchant the golden enchanted swords that you can get from the farm to get a little more xp. Or, if you want even more, then setup a piglin bartering station with a leatherworker and shepherd trading hall to trade away the leather and string from the piglins for even more XP! Idk how much xp it's gonna be 😂😂😂
@Pixlriffs
@Pixlriffs 2 года назад
Yeah, a zombie pigman farm would be my go-to farm, but it means going to the Nether Roof for the most straightforward approach. Not gonna go there quite yet - but you’re right about xp from guardians and Piglins absorbing faster - i think they drop more “clumped” xp orbs worth 3-5xp, where Endermen drop lots of small orbs worth 1xp each.
@atifashhabatif8391

@@Pixlriffs Yes, thank you for the simplified explanation. That was exactly what I was trying to say :D. So.... can we except a video regarding that soon??
@TheRealWormbo
@TheRealWormbo 2 года назад
It's related to mob-dropped XP orbs having only certain sizes. The smallest sizes are and 1, 3, 7, which are the only ones relevant for typical mob drops. (Baby zombie piglin chicken jockeys could drop larger orbs, but that's not very relevant.) Add on top that players can only ingest 10 orbs per second, regardless of their size. Endermen, like spiders or creepers, will always drop 5 XP. Now you will notice that 5 is not a possible number of XP orb sizes, so they will drop XP orbs of sizes 1, 1 and 3 instead, which is an average of 1.333… per orb. Zombified piglins also have a base rate of 5 XP, but every naturally-generated piece of equipment provides a random bonus of 1 to 3 XP, making them drop 6-8 XP. In "orb sizes" that's either 3+3, 7, or 7+1, which averages to 3.5 XP/orb. Guardians (and blazes) have a higher base XP, but no equipment. They always drop 10 XP in the form of orbs with sizes 3+7, averaging 5 XP/orb, which is the highest XP rate of any farm that doesn't need any kind of cool-down time between uses, like a furnace-based XP generator would need.

@atifashhabatif8391 2 года назад
@@TheRealWormbo correct. Your calcs are impressive, tho simple
@TheRealWormbo
@TheRealWormbo 2 года назад
@@atifashhabatif8391 To be fair, starting with 1.17 the averages are probably not quite correct, since orbs of the same size can bunch together to form "multi-use" orbs that get ingested multiple times until used up, but that shouldn't make much of a difference.

Chunk borders should not make any relevant difference for this farm if you are building it in 1.13 or any reasonably recent version of Minecraft Java edition. There have been a couple of versions where the spawning algorithm incorrectly aborted when reaching a chunk border, which severely hurt farms like this. Fortunately this has been fixed a while ago. BTW: In terms of teleport-proofing, any floating carpet will be enough, either on a non-colliding block (e.g. string, torches, redstone dust, etc.) or on another carpet. The trick that mobs will not pathfind across floating carpet will require quite a significant number of stacked carpets, since mobs tolerate some fall damage in their pathing decisions. In addition to Gnembon's excellent orignal video (which actually was a byproduct of him explaining how mob spawning works in 1.13+), I strongly recommend also watching his 1.15/1.16 update videos, as some things have changed since he originally showcased this farm. Looking for updated information also is a very good idea in general if you find relatively old videos that use any particular Minecraft mechanics. And instead of asking in those videos whether something works in the current version, It's usually beneficial to sort the comments by New instead and see if someone reports the design as working or broken.

A technicality: At 7:45, you mention that mob spawning is faster lower in the world. This is "true enough" for most people to understand, but what actually matters isn't the height at which the mobs are spawning, but the maximum height at that X/Z coordinate. So if you build two platforms on top of each other, they'll both get the same spawn rates, but if you remove the top platform, the bottom one will get faster spawn rates.

I am curious what kind of rate you get if you build this up high, like a typical overworld farm, instead of over the void. Lower obviously, but by how much is the matter of curiosity. I may try it and find out, since I can barely deal with the void 😱
@BYtheHORNsGaming
@BYtheHORNsGaming 2 года назад
You'll get the same/very similar rates as long as you are able to spawn proof the island and prevent endermen from teleporting. In fact you can get just as many endermen as pixilriffs does in this video due to the ender mini being capped by the mob cap and the time it takes the player to kill the endermen depending on the farms you build since being lower in the world really only increases the chance at pack spawning. If the void is something you want to avoid and your end island doesn't have too many cliffs where endermen can teleport an easy way to do this is simply flood the island with water as it both stops them from spawning and they don't want to teleport into the water as they take damage. I know plenty of people (myself included) who prefer building high then the bottom of the void as well since you can make drop chute where endermen will fall and be a single heart making killing them a lot easier as well as give you more room for ender pearl storage/removal.

What's the difference between netherite armor and diamond? Please make a full detailed episode about different type of armor and I wish there was armor for dogs with health bar and health items and chest attachment.
@dtslawyer6970
@dtslawyer6970 2 года назад
Main differences Netherite is nonrenewable, armor reduces knockback, can’t burn in and doesn’t take durability damage from fire and lava, and all netherite tools deal one more damage per hit than diamond (except the hoe on java) Netherite equipment also has more durability than diamond and typically gives better enchantments on the table than diamond.

Wait, so you are standing on a piece of carpet which is placed on top of a piece of string which is over the void. While continuously swinging a sword. That just feels way too precarious to me. Why can't there be a slab under the carpet--would the endermen teleport to it? I think I'd be willing to take whatever miniscule loss of efficiency there would be to stand on 2 or 3 layers of carpet above a slab instead of one layer over a string, just to feel safer.

bro, get like 12 vilagers with iron ingot - emerald trades, make em zombies and then heal them,, congrats, you got super easy xp that you can use 2 times every minecraft day. i built an iron farm like 50 blocks away and every farm I have in the nether has a portal nearby as well. any tool you need fixed you can just hold it in your hand, trade with 12 iron villagers and bam, fixed .I find if I just place like 30 beds and around 8 composters with a wall surrounding the village, 8 farmers will do the breeding for you. need more vilagers? go to your post zombified shepherd, buy beds and place em down, in a few minecraft days you will have new villagers ready to trade with
@Pixlriffs

As I said in the video, I’m not looking to expand this village’s population or build a trading hall yet. I don’t want to reach a point where there’s nothing left to do with villagers! This was a good excuse to explore some different mechanics and make an enderman farm in the meantime 🙂

Agree and disagree here. I have villagers set up at my base. Few top tear trades make my tools to fully repaired. Like golden carrots glass bottles. Nether wart. I keep the excess in the trading chests but it gets my gear repaired in 3 minutes. But any case you can use endermna farm in the end and repair tools there if needed. Like blaze farm in nether. So all dimension has there tool repair farms. 🙏😊

Few questions for this, one I was woundering what version is the xbox one edition, 2 when I try this method I cant do it as the end world map finishes right at the edge of the island and cant go any further so making the exp farm off the island is impossible, every way I try I hit a wall and slowly starts killing me, is the reason ppl build the exp farm that far away is to skip lighting the island with torches or something? Cuz back in the days I used to just build a tower in the middle of the island and to make sure the hole island top to bottom was lit with torches so the ender man spawned where I want them, meaning when the tower was done that the only place to spawned was at the top of the tower and fall down, never used endermites or anything like that, just a tall tower with a few sticky pistons that would open the trap door for them to fall when needed, but ya mostly checking on ideas for this cuz I cant build off the island
@Pixlriffs
@Pixlriffs 5 месяцев назад
If your main menu still says 'Xbox One edition', that's what we call the "legacy console edition". It has limited map size, lacks the content from more recent updates, and the mechanics will often be very different from the information in my recent guide videos. It may be possible to upgrade to Minecraft Bedrock Edition (which is the current version across all consoles and mobile devices), but even then the mechanics are often different from the Java Edition I'm playing on PC here, so it's not worth building an Enderman farm this way on Xbox One. It might be easiest to farm ender pearls just by building a shelter with a 2 high roof, looking at the Endermen to aggro them, then attacking their legs from the safety of your shelter.
@mathieubrunet4561
@mathieubrunet4561 5 месяцев назад
That's what I've bin doing for a little while now to farm them but gonna try and do it the old way I used to do it on xbox 360 and just build a tower higher then the pillars with a platform and have sticky pistons open when needed to and have them fall, I counted the amount of ender man on the map and there more then 20 of them so could be a good way to do it, but thanks for the info
