The website says the support beam and bed base is included in the price. If you're at the store you have to grab them as they're packaged separately. If you buy online they ship them included.
Thanks sooooo much for your extremely helpful video! I almost gave up and was just so stressed because I couldn't figure out a couple of steps. I just about gave up and was thinking when I could return it. Anyways, I decided to check youtube but nobody ecplained anything until I came across your video. Thanks to you I was able to finish putting my Malm bed together. I did end up swearing and using some new vocabulary before I came across your youtube video.
Step 10 (making diamond shape) was the hardest part, felt like a punishment from IKEA. Still the screws are not fully tight and had to give up. Had to calm down the HULK that came out of me. Called IKEA and the lady said to check youtube clips for tips and tricks. :( Wish i had seen your comment earlier Michael Carrasquillo.
Same here, i was not able to put that diamond thing yet, the holes are too tight, i went back to ikea and they said i need a power tool, it didn’t work too
for everyone stuck on 10 and 11, i recommend screwing the bolt into the metal bar by itself first, just to widen the hole and give it a path, then screw it in all together. good luck
The way this women is putting in the circler bracket is the wrong way. You want to before you connect the side piece, put the circler piece in first then connect side pieces together. Spent an hour trying to figure out why this was not working.
@4:47 "tricky" is an understatement. None of the rods are threaded for the screws included at all so you are basically trying to force a metal pin the size of a peanut into a hole smaller than the initial screw. I broke several of my Phillips heads trying to get this thing to work. Me and my wife have done several of these Ikea designs and they all seem to have something like 4:47 included to get you to call them out for that extra dollar.
I got it quite easily by myself. I might have been lucky or the material has been made better through the time. The thing I did was to first make the hole from the metal bigger by forcing the pin in it...
This video helped us out a lot when we were reassembling my brothers bed (it’s different one but the metal and wood parts at the end are the same), so thank you so so much house beautiful.
Oooomg thank you so much my bed broke the hardware n I had trouble putting it back the diamond pieces n I saw that I was suppose to put them under to screw in thank u so much
the screws don’t fit when i’m attempting to make the diamond shape? i’ve been sat here for almost an hour? how on earth did you do it if you don’t mind me asking because it really doesn’t work for me. the screw keeps slipping out and i’m using all the right materials
Yes, I have this too! My instructions also tell me to put the bracket in lower down whereas this video has them higher up which looks right! Did you get there eventually?
Hi! Just wondering if you eventually figured out the diamond shape screws? I’ve also been sitting here for quite sometime and can’t seem to figure out why the screws aren’t going in. I even tried using a drill. Nothing.
@@tatianaaguirre7814 I just did mine, it required some effort. A normal screwdriver doesn't work properly, if you put too much force you ruin the screw. See www.finehomebuilding.com/2015/09/16/what-is-the-difference-screw-bits-phillips-vs-pozidriv It worked with a good tip and some force.
Apologies on my delays of reply guys. I did manage to do it however I know in my heart of hearts it wasn’t done correctly but i will say my bed is strong and sturdy and have had no issues! So truth be told i’m not sure how important they really and truly are. I’m happy to show the underneath of my bed if anyone needs xx
is there any way that i can remove the headboard and put it back on? i plan on getting this bed but i am also moving out in about 2 months so i wouldn’t wanna have trouble getting it out of my room
@@kanaekeiko It definitely stays stable, it's good quality. The squeaks are there from the beginning but become less the longer you're making use of the bed.
To Ikea: Put 4 small holes at the ends of the metal beams. This would allow access to the the twist locks at both ends WITHOUT having to completely remove the rails, which will make the bed extremely portable; just undo a few twist locks and pull it apart. The current design requires you to fully remove the metal rails from the wood (unscrew a dozen self-tapping screws from wood) to access the locks if you need to move the bed in pieces (say moving house to house), which is both time consuming and risks damage/failure to re-screw. Just 4 extra holes in the metal brackets you already put holes in to make the bed much better.
Thank you so much - I just got one for free and parts are missing, with your guide I was able to find replacement parts and understand all the pieces! Thank you!
@@brahmam9688 u r welcome. Type in google IKEA spare parts. Window will open amd type number of item. If u need to know it find manual of that item( google it) and u will see each screw number on it.
Hi Ladies, great video well done. Just curious as to the "What you need to buy" bit. Are the center support beam and slatted bed base not included in the purchase of the bed? Are they optional or will the bed not "work" without them?
The center support and slats aren't included! The center beam is apparently essential... I found out when I assembled my bed and didn't have this piece. Had to drive half an hour to go buy one:( I wish they were more clear. I think the slats are also really important or your bed may sink down since there isn't much support without them
I highly recommend a drill. All that wrist twisting would drive me crazy or at least give you some kind of temporary pain syndrome. This must be one of their cheapest models. I'd rather get something that just clicks together without so many additional screws. And it's run of the mill style means you could get the same look without all the fuss.
actually i just flipped mine (mi es came with a hole and i didnt want to go back to the ikea store lol) and it worked i just removed one of the thick wood pieces and it worked perfectly.
Did anyone else’s 123026 cam fastening screws break during this? Any alternative screws I can buy? I’m in NZ and we don’t have ikea here to just get replacements!
Good video - though I've assembled dozens and dozens of ikea furniture, I've not done the beds and this confirmed that they really are rubbish! Not only is the veneer hollowcore frame held together with just a few small screws, it has dozens of parts, while bedframes from ikea competitors have only about 10-15parts, and take just minutes to disassemble and reassemble when you move house. This one is also squeeky and would break apart after just a few years, unlike many other ikea products definitely give this a wide berth, though the rubber mounted slats are very good.
IF ANYONE IS WATCHING THIS, BEFORE U EVEN START. GET A POZIDRIV SCREWDRIVER! just do it. don’t use phillips. ur gonna strip ur screws, especially towards the end with those metal beams. :)
It squeaks on the slide I sleep on more often, kinda always make me worried that it’s not secure/might break but it hasn’t for the 15 months that I’ve had it. It is unsettling though..
anybody have a long term review on these?im about to buy the king sized one but this whole bed frame looks like its made out of real cheap walmart quality wood and thin aluminum metal pieces so i dont know if i wanna buy it after watching this and seeing the materials.
Has anyone bought this bed recently? I want it so badly but of course this is one of the only ones with bad reviews. It squeaks? Is it that badly? Should I get it or not and what are the alternatives?
I had the same issue! The dowels were waaaay too thick, the whole thing didn’t “slot” together nicely. I had to bash the footboard into the side panels using a hammer and a folded up hoodie. Took me about 5 hours before I could screw them in.
