I did it. I ordered a FLYSKY 10 Ch. radio and and this StevensAeroModel Quick oats model RC trainer. I appreciate how you explain the process and I look forward to supporting your channel. Thanks for the thorough videos, I feel like you are sharing your love for the hobby and it is inspiring! I appreciate a push in the right direction. Thanks, Brent

Hi Tim, I did build the quick oats and it turned out very good. Very pleased. Stevens arrow was very helpful. And thank you for your help. Also, I now have a beautiful plane, that surprisingly flies beautiful. I followed your step-by-step build and helped me immensely. Thanks again.

@@TimMcKay56 Thanks, Tim! I'm currently flying several Cox powered models (revisiting my youth). It's a lot of fun! I just aquired the Goldberg 42 Skylane but feel a bit nervous about the build (backround is mostly Guillow's and Sterling kits). I think I need to just lay it all out and get started.

Thx for sharing! I like the fact that they provide a "shopping list" of what equipment is needed. The more complex barrier for me so far is the electronics, so I am hopping that if I follow that list I will get compatible electronics and set-up. I still have other projects running on my channel, but I think this will soon be in my backlog! Thank you!

Hi Tim, I'm 65 and just started to enjoy building so I'm learning a lot from your videos. I've been flying foam airplanes for years but excited to see if it's true that balsa flies better. I think the Quick Oats looks suitable for my style of flying and building skills. Subscribed and looking forward to your next video.

Tim, after watching this video about 10 times over and over I decided to send away for one. I went down the list of everything I needed and bought them. The only thing I couldn’t get was a battery they were out, so I purchased at some other place. One thing I keep going over on this video is where you said you had to make a little change with the servos. You said it was a little tricky and you had to cut out a little bit to make them fit. What exactly did you have to cut to make The servoes fit properly. I’m just concerned about that. I want to make sure I do it right. As I build this model I’m sure I’m gonna have to keep playing this video over and over but I’m glad I’m able to do that. This is sure different than when I built my two GWS slow sticks. This will be a challenge for me but I want to do it. Wish me luck. Thank you Tim, any response would be greatly appreciated!

Jim: Congrats on your new project! The Quick Oats is a neat airplane to build and the photo illustrated guide helps a lot. No worries on the servo installation. Stevens Aero had a laser cut size for whatever servos they planned to use. I used Hitec HS-55 servos which were a tad bigger than the ones used by the designer, thus I had to cut open the servo spaces a bit more on the mounting platform to install the servos. This is easy to do with a sharp #11 X-acto blade. If you can get some smaller servos, try the Hitec HS40 servos. Super light weight, they may fit better. I got my HS40 servos on Amazon.com. Tim

As always, great video , Tim! Very nice model. I'm curious- with the battery you used, about how long would the maximum flight time of this plane be?
@TimMcKay56
@TimMcKay56 2 года назад
ZZ: I am conservative to try and avoid crashes due to battery running down. Thus, I set 5 minute flights. With lower throttle, seem to discharge around 40%. Would rather have a few safe, shorter flights than pushing a battery. Tim

Hi Tim, When I was a teenager, I put together a few non-motorized flying models, only gliders such as "Czyżyk" or "Jaskółka". These are the Polish versions of the ribbed gliders. I never needed any (hair) saw as the ribs and other parts were already cut. How can I cut plywood without damaging the parts? Is the processing fixture expensive. Friends encourage me to come back to modeling, but somehow I don't know how to approach it (after about 40 years). I currently live in the USA, but in 3 months I will fly to my home country and I would like to use my time somehow (I am retired) and not bore myself to death. Have a nice day.

Hinges for my Guillows models are just clear Scotch tape. You really cannot see the tape once on, and the hinges work great. Tim

@@TimMcKay56 Yes its a musium piece now. I have made several of my own radios recently and have a couple inwork. not for Aviation use (Yet). My approach back to RC is to build from scratch including the Avionics. I aquired plans from Cleveland Model & supp. for the 80" Playboy so I can pack it with gear. I got to build the airplane.....You can do it if you get bored. You have a Great Show. its stops me from getting my stuff done.
