HoyoLab Post Link: www.hoyolab.com/article/19116870 I apologize for how long it took me to make this. I wanted to make the video concise and informative. In the end, I rewrote the entire script three times and spent over a week working out the deck in the demonstration. Hopefully this video can be helpful for everyone, but the topic of Deck Building is so nuanced that it may be better to simply do a Q&A at some point.
i was actually looking for a good tcg guide earlier today since i didn’t start playing until recently, so this is fantastic timing haha. it was also a surprise to see that you only have 500 subs, since the production quality gave me the impression that you had WAY more (really looking forward to seeing the channel grow though!). anyways, thanks for uploading these kinds of vids! it was getting a bit confusing after hearing all sorts of terms get thrown around in other tcg-related videos on yt, so i appreciate the time and effort you put into explaining everything in a highly comprehensive guide ^^ i can’t wait to start building my own decks with all of this info in mind
Haha, thanks! A lot of terms that get used in Genshin's TCG come from other TCGs, like YuGiOh and MTG, but for a lot of people, Genshin's TCG is an introduction to TCGs in general. I'm glad that you found everything useful, and hope it helps in making your own unique decks!
Thanks! It is quite difficult to include every aspect of the TCG in a single video and make it still accessible to everyone, so I'm glad that people find it helpful.
Nice guide. I didn't realize how important practical testing is for deck building until I tried on my own a little while ago. Knowing that I was generally on the right track with my strategy is reassuring. Also, having consistent terms to use is helpful regardless. I made an amber/mona/collei aggro(?)-summon/shield deck focused on maximizing Amber's skill (2 pyro damage AND 2 shield is underrated). I'm not quite sure which archetype this falls under though. I built it to have lots of shield and food to stall but it also has surprisingly high damage (first round->amber->mona->end round can do 6 damage to a target and leaves hydro application for collei).
Sometimes decks don't fit perfectly into one single archetype. Depending on openings and opponents, some decks can flex into a couple of archetypes to varying degrees, but they usually thrive in one more than others. And yeah, testing is extremely important. It can sometimes take dozens of tests to make certain decks work in certain ways. Amber is a really good Card. As time goes on, she'll see more use in a variety of roles.
I can't help but feeling weirdly savage, when you speak about OTK, but showing clip where Noelle gets knocked out, but completely dampens OTK combo of the opponent :D (Only for Itto to sweep what's left :D ). Anyways thank you for this guide, people need to know how to build decks, so that they will not resort to just copying deck and then still losing because they don't know how to operate that deck. If they spend time actually building it, they will definitely know what to do :3
The only reason why I used that footage was because I didn't actually have any footage of OTK decks doing their combo. I showed the best example of one, essentially doing over 20 damage in a single Round, that I had. I suppose that just means that I need to make an OTK deck at some point. Itto sweeping actually worked with what was being said about OTK decks breaking down if you can withstand the initial assault. And yeah, the more people know about how decks work, the better they'll enjoy the decks and the TCG at large.
I don't think I needed all that stuff, cause I'm a tcg player myself and already for a long time now, but! For those on the RU-vid who want to start the so-called tcg career this video is absolutely great!! All that u need to know about how to build decks, how to test them, what do u need for win man this is what I call a hard but great work. Please keep it up and good luck!
For a lot of people, Genshin's TCG might be their first TCG, so getting those basics down is important, and I'm glad that people seem to be getting value from those. I still think there are some things worth considering for people who play other TCGs, though, since Genshin's has its own unique flare.
Just found out this video and this is a very nice overall guide to build and play Genius Invokation TCG. Well done on the video. A little tiny detail to discuss tho, I am not sure that Nahida is supposed to be a Burst Deck character. Sure the Shrine of Maya boosts reactions, but her kit also shines on her Seed of Skandha which requires two applications of normal elemental skill (6 dice, 2 actions) or one 5-dice skill to get the Seeds applied on all enemy characters. This is doubly so if we use Nahida's Talent Card which further her Seeds power. Thus, early extra energy for Nahida is less preferable since otherwise you'd like to apply Seeds of Skandha first. While fast-bursting Nahida is possible, I can't help to think that there are better options if you'd like this playstyle. For example, using Xiangling burst for more consistent damage.
I was more referring to Raiden, if it's the image I'm thinking of. Raiden's burst allows everyone else to quickly burst and then move into the other abilities.
Thank you for this guide. It contains a lot of good information for those, who like TSG. But, for me, I better just continue watching your self made decks😂
I wanted to build my own decks as long as they are optimal to use, but I don't know how to do so. Thanks to this guide video, and I am getting into this mode again for the second time. Most people overlooked this permanent game mode and assumed how complicated it can be. But it is really not that bad once you figure it out how it works, and that's the fun part. Learn, experiment and apply. Thank you so much for making this video!
Very informative video. I found your channel while looking for some TCG decks. I've played Genshin regularly for 3 years but kinda neglected the TCG for a while. Decided to get back to it these days, and thanks to one of your decks I managed to complete all liyue duels and get to lv10, and now I'm approaching Inazuma. There's still a lot I need to understand before trying to figure out a deck on my own. One thing I would love to see is a deckbuilding strategy starting from one char, because that's kinda what I want to focus on. Just start from a character I like and try to build a deck that works around it (looking at Dehya for my first serious deck). Although I don't know if I really want to pvp, at least you're making my PvE experience more smooth.
Glad you like the video! Making decks around a singular character is actually something I did a bit in the last TCG stream I did (the VoD is available). Someone asked about Kokomi, so I made the Kokomi Cube Deck (the most recent video deck) live on stream. It was initially based around Kokomi, but I think the Cubes took over, lol.
@@SausageGenshinTeapotTCG I saw that video, but as far as I understood, Kokomi is more of a stall/heal side/support character, so I think it's expected that in the end the other units take the spotlight. Out of your other videos, I'm quite intrigued by the Dehya/Nahida/Fischl deck and I'm working on building that (I currently don't have Dehya and I'm out of invitations). Do you think a similar deck, but with oceanid instead of Fischl for more summons and vaporize/bloom, can work? Gonna check that vod, thanks.
In theory, sure, you could swap out Fischl or Dehya for Oceanid, but you'd lose the core principle of that deck: disrupting the opponent in end-phase. However, that isn't to say that the new version of the deck wouldn't have its own playstyle to mess around with.@@AcaciaAvenue
Just focus on getting the cards that you want for making a deck that interests you. There's a lot to get, so take it slow and start out by just making a deck that you enjoy first.
My only tip is that it's way kore useful imo to build a deck around a certain niche rather than make an all rounder deck prepared for anything. I try to fit my decks into certain niches they can excel at rsther than try to fit mediocre cards into an all rounder. Some cards revolve around fast switching, some revolve around high damage, some consistently heal and shield... That's my only tip tbh
Thanks so much for this! Would it be possible have a video going over the specific deck playstyles? I more or less got how to play a shield deck from the Noelle video (which I learned a lot from, as a big Noelle the character fan), but I still don't really get how freeze is supposed to work. Or maybe something like recommendations and options for a healing-focused deck.
I think as I make more Deck Showcase videos, those archetypes and playstyles will be addressed. Though I might make archetype and playstyle-specific guides in the future, too.
@@SausageGenshinTeapotTCG Makes sense! The issue is just that I'm the kind of casual(tm) that refuses to play characters I don't like, so I don't watch half the meta videos because I won't be caught dead with a card with Nahida on it and such, haha.
Xingqiu and Yanfei are certainly good picks together. I could see Kokomi being used, but probably not the most useful. If you wanted a healer, Yao Yao or Baizhu might be better to create Bloom Cores to give Yanfei that extra kick. In fact, I've been working on a new Yanfei deck, myself, so it's good to see other people still consider her.
Which types of decks work well with the Tenacity of the millelith artifact set? I tried to add it to a freeze deck but I got confused on when and on whom to use it.
Tenacity is such a strong artifact that it works in a lot of different decks. It's in almost all Stall Decks due to its defensive capabilities. It can also be in a lot of decks that have a main "hypercarry" character card that wants to be the Active Character most of the time. It can be great on characters who can self-heal or shield, Like Bennett, Qiqi, Beidou, Candace, and pairs well with a lot of other defensive weapons, like Aquila or The Bell.
I generally use Atra and Gary the most. Both have high-damage Character Cards that better represent more aggressive opponents. Gary also can be a decent test at dodging reactions since you can try to dodge Catalyze while controlling the Terrorshroom's Burst. I briefly mention this and a few other points towards the end of the HoyoLab Post I made for this video, if you want to give that a read, too. HoyoLab Post: www.hoyolab.com/article/19116870
I am so indecisive on which character to invite for my 1st two invites. Any ideas? I have been waiting for these new cards to release but i still have no idea which character cards to pick as my 1st two.
If you are specifically talking about the new 4.1 Character Cards, then I would go with Dehya and Yao Yao. They are likely to be pretty flexible with most teams. But if you are just talking in general, then go with whoever you want or like the most.
@@Moby313 I would start with Fischl. She can synergize best with the other two and potentially set up for some Burning into Overload combos if you start with Dehya into Yao Yao, then Fischl for R2. End of R2 will net both Burning and Overload.
There are other type of deck not mentioned in video: snipe deck, single target deck, and AoE deck. Snipe deck revolves around card that allows character to do massive single target damage (pyro resonance, temptation food, artifact that gives +2 burst dmg, a floating thousand dream weapon, ect), and snipe deck usually also use fast swap card.
The goal of the video isn't to mention every single sub-class of deck. This covers the general necessities to get people started with deck-building, not to mention that many of these hyper-specific decks do not exactly have standardized naming conventions. In fact, I believe I mentioned that the list of playstyles given is far from exhaustive. Much of the terms mentioned here, however, either are common terms in TCGs or general enough that both beginners and experienced players can understand them equally.
Well, you could just start with your favourite characters. Virtually every Character Card is viable in the right team if you practice the deck long enough, so picking a favourite and then building a team around that favourite is an option. However, some of the more powerful ones are Mona, Klee, Itto, Nahida, Fischl, Qiqi, Pyro Fatui Agent, and Oceanid.
@@SausageGenshinTeapotTCG Maybe Mona, Nahida, and Fischl so all I would need to invite would be Mona and Nahida to get their cards? I was thinking of using my 1st two invites on something that would really help my literal starter deck out while picking favorites also. Mona has been a favorite since the release of the game and Nahida is my most wanted and I'm anxiously awaiting her next rerun to snatch her up.
@@Moby313 I think you only get the Skill Cards from inviting Fischl, and hers isn't that amazing, so you could save her for last. But Mona is definitely worth it since she is useful in a lot of decks. Nahida is also a very broken character card. Nahida, Oceanid, Fischl, or NEC, is one of the most broken meta decks at the moment. But Mona can certainly be smaller replacement for Oceanid in that deck, too. In fact, I made a video on that very deck awhile back.
@@SausageGenshinTeapotTCG I'll check that video out right now. I also heard that Yoimiya and Ayaka together are a dream team deck so I'm just very indecisive about who to go with but it's for sure either Mona and Nahida or Yoimiya and Ayaka to get more invites after leveling up. It's definitely fun to play and I'm so glad I decided to come back to Genshin.
