Hey man I’m loving this! Keep it up, definitely the most important thing in my experience is acknowledging what the coach wants and negotiate between needs of both the coaches because most likely both coaches are type A personality that think they are 100% right

Great conversation. Something that is hitting me when listening to this, I recognise that this discussion is focused towards the S&C coach but, it sounds like you guys are almost assuming that the S&C coach is in the 'right' with the 'knowledge' needed to enhance performance, and making it sound like the sports coach is the challenge. I don't know if I am alone in thinking this, but that is how it is coming across and I think we can all agree that we need to look at ourselves when developing to see if we, as the S&C coaches, are the issue. I don't think that was your intention, nor do I think that is what you are saying as I am regular consumer of the content you put out and understand you view, but I thought I would air my view for some feedback as what you are saying maybe perceived that way. Keep up the content.

Danny Hatcher Thanks for your feedback! From my standpoint it’s actually the opposite. As you alluded to the VAST majority of my content challenges strength coaches to be more self-aware in recognizing that they are a huge part of the problem. I’ve gone to countless clinics where S&C coaches say that everyone else is the issue yet they don’t adapt their strategies accordingly and participate in very little reflection. My entire Apprenticeship workshops dive deeper into these specific tactical arenas so that biases can be better recognized and addressed: artofcoaching.com/the-apprenticeship/ That said, of course there are circumstances where sport coaches are a huge part of the problem- it goes both ways. All you need to do is follow the headlines of what’s transpired in NCAA football and beyond recently. Micro-politics are a global issue within all organizations. Since 90%+ of my resources are aimed at helping S&C coaches be more accountable, there also must be a dialogue about the other side of the coin. I believe in creating an educational ecosystem that takes all sides into consideration especially since communication is a goal driven, intentional process amongst interlocutors. Many coaches have asked for a video like this, and sadly, no matter what content I produce you will never please everyone.

Danny Hatcher I think Brett and Ian do a great job of repeatedly saying multiple perspectives must be considered here. I believe he makes that clear even at 2:41 that you need to really understand what others are saying. I don’t think this video comes off as anyone saying sport coaches are solely to blame.

@@BrettBartholomewCoach I couldn't agree more. You will never please everyone but, you can give them the choice and potential to develop if they choose. Which I think you do a great job at.

@@jimmcdale5204 I agree that Brett and Ian explain different perspectives. They also mention, as you pointed out, their understanding of that the sport coach, or whoever's you are trying to talk to has their own opinion. I do think that they talk about what we can do for them, concession, which I totally agree with but, It can come across that the S&C coach in this situation is dropping what aspects of their philosophy of practice potentially without concession from the sport coach.
