Easy Composites has some great carbon fiber tutorials on their YT channel including several on forged carbon fiber parts. Anyone with access to a 3d printer could make a forged carbon plate for this wheel
Please continue this to the end. I’m trying to make a prediction quality wheel so I can sell it I’m confident in most of my design skills but need more advise on the grip aspect of the wheels.
Awesome. Thanks for watching and commenting. I've been watching Dave for over a year now. A great source of knowledge and entertainment. I know he loves his Turn Wheel also. Looks like he has a new wooden rig being built.
Awesome video! Im really into 3d Printing and making my own accessories for sim racing and have made several button boxes and mods for logitech gear. Im really trying to do this DIY Wheel as well!
Id love to see your button boxes. I 3d print on a daily basis and have been wanting to make a button box for my rig for 2 years but I never did it yet. (a bit afraid of the arduino bit)
You can get PU grips on some of Zach's barebones kits and wheels. Like the TURN 488 CHALLENGE BAREBONES TURN GT BAREBONES TURN R20 EVO SIM & TRACK STEERING WHEEL TURN R20H SIM & TRACK STEERING WHEEL geni.us/ballistic-turn-wheels
Not sure if you've watched the video but the point is to show ppl how they can use the tools and skills they have to do as much as they can themselves. That in combination with buying some components and using services allows ppl to build the wheel they want. Zach makes wheels full time for a living. So yeah he has a lot of tools and equipment. But I show how to do stuff with hand tools, a soldering iron and 3d printer as well.
Best bet is the Turn Racing Discord. I've done a bit of testing with a 3d printed mold and a couple materials. It's definitely doable but a lot of work for a 1 off build. Several guys on the Turn Discord have tried and posted their results. I have some pictures up there too if you search for molded/casted grips. They also have a wiki with some info
Oh awesome. Thanks for coming to check it out. DIY wheel building is super satisfying. It's also a really dense subject. The discord is an awesome place to get more information if you have specific questions. A lot of my knowledge has come from the Discord and community Zach has built. I'm hoping this video/series can help boost that.
I'm looking forward to cheking more of your channel! And yeah, I quickly found out how dense this can be, so I already am in the discord! But part of me really loves the headache of trying to find new parts, sources or solutions in all this. Working on my own version of a AMG GT3 wheel currently!
hello @ Ballistic Tech , pls i have something more or lees like this wheel you are holding 12 push button 5 rotary encoder . pls how do i code it using arduino mega
Do you have any suggestion or reference material on dual bite point clutch custom wheel design? I try to search online but seems like material is quite scarce for circuit design and coding. Probably I look into wrong areas.
Excited to see the future videos on these subjects! Would also love to see a video on how you modified your Logitech wheelbase to accommodate custom wheels as well
Super excited for the upcoming videos! I started during the lockdown to deal with this topic. Did not know until just now that there is a proper Discord-Channel about this - thanks for that! Are there also other sources you would recommend to exchange with others? Many greetings from Germany :)
Already have this gorgeous wheel from Zach, using it every day, it's so great, and I had a blast putting it together. I'll be tagging along here, seems like the right place for new inspiration.
Thanks for watching! And big thanks for the sub! Video 2 script on front plates is done. and I've started recording shots. After that need to sit down in front of the cameras and talk (the hard part).
