Hey Chris, wonderful conversation, here I am 2 years later to witness. Tons of amazing information for a developing trumpeter like myself. Hit a road block in my practice (excess tension creeping back into chops) the last couple days. I tried using descending and then ascending lines (in the form of minor 6 arpeggios in this case), and thinking about wind and momentum. Really seemed to open things up for me and get me back to the correct form/feeling! I'm sure I'll return to this video in the future to try and absorb more what you two spoke about. -Spencer
"... or you're bored. " 😉 You **gotta** pencil in cues on classical sheets. I always practice scales starting with ascension. I love the roller coaster analogy and will use descents. Thanks.
hi Chris, your videos are so inspiring for young players like us. but I really wanna ask, cause i've been having issues concerning endurance and range. whenever i try to pass second E, my upper and lower lips in the mouthpiece tends to move apart, like I lose control over them thereby, stopping me from getting past it. so please any tips or con to help bypass this feeling and help me get control over my lips. thanks man!
