This is my 1st time watching. I'm so sorry about your Princess. She was adorable! 🐾♥️🐾 I watched Nomad's videos also. I enjoyed seeing you make only cabinetry. It was easier to follow. Although I did appreciate all of the testing he did. Your cabinets turned out well. And such a weight saving idea! I hope to find the installation video.

Do you have a more detailed tutorial for cutting notches so they line up correctly?
@NomadicBillyGoat
@NomadicBillyGoat 21 день назад
I don't, but what I did was put the 2 pieces flat against each other and used a sharpie to mark vertical lines across both pieces, then alternated putting an "X" on the piece that needed to be cut out. Kinda like the following: [ x [ [ x [ [ x [ [ [ x [ [ x. [ [

Wow, they came out great! I bet they're fairly light for how strong they are, too. Can't wait to see the install! Assuming one has the tools, adhesives, and paint - how much would you estimate they cost to make? Foam, screen, anchors, siding, trim, etc. Any tips or tricks you learned to make it easier next time?
@NomadicBillyGoat
@NomadicBillyGoat Год назад
Thank you very much! I would estimate that these cost around $100 each to build. Not sure where you could actually find cabinets like these already built, or how much they would be in order to compare. Biggest tip... Take your time! These took me a month to build. (That’s with working full time.) So practically every night after work for a few hours, and then on the weekends. Thanks for watching!

You should give credit to @nomad since you used all the research and processes that he outlined in his videos about foam cabinets.

I did give credit to him. There is a clip in the video where I talk about it.

Affixing a non stretchable material to both sides with some form of adhesive or epoxy gives a perfectly rigid composite. Fiberglass, canvas, screen, or luan all have the same effect. XPS doesn't compress but it can stretch, so preventing that with the other materials yields a strong composite. However, you have taken the process from others on RU-vid but not the understanding of why this process exists, thus you have wasted the screen by not placing it on the other side of the XPS. In other words, others will watch this video and think they only need to reinforce one side of the material with multiple layers, and find they have spent unnecessary time and money when they could have a better result by reinforcing one layer on each side.

Agreed, however I never said I knew everything, and the comments section is for viewers like yourself to express your opinion. I do appreciate the information you have provided. I did also build a storage platform out of XPS foam board too, which I did screen and paint both sides. These videos I make are merely ideas. I believe I stated in the video that I'm sure you can make them better. They're not perfect, but neither am I. I appreciate your comment, and I value your opinion. 🙂

Genius. Saves gas, I’m sure. I don’t know how I would do it, but somehow, once the vehicle is stopped, I’d find a way to use 100% of the driving cabin. First step would be removing the seats. It’s just a waste of space . I’m building foam panels 3’ square that you haul in a truck bed and easily construct a cabin.

Thank you! I do use the driving cabin when the vehicle is stopped, but usually for storage. I might remove my passenger seat since im solo, but not sure yet. Besides, I do have alot of room in the back for living. That cabin with the foam panels sounds like a good idea.

@@NomadicBillyGoat after I wrote the comment, using the cab for storage came to mind. I’m a crawlspace contractor. I use foam board, felt and 12 mil poly. Lowes has those deck slats used for the railing. Once Great Stuff foam makes contact with that felt it is a lock. I can build waterproof, insulated panels that will attach with pre-applied bolts. 60 panels will go in a truck bed. I’m dying to try it but too busy doing nothing. lol. Love the cabinets made of foam board

👍 Why not use xps for the door?
@NomadicBillyGoat
@NomadicBillyGoat 3 месяца назад
I felt like I needed a more heavier duty door. It has worked amazing since I installed them. Maybe I should make some xps foam doors, and see how they work. Experiments are always fun.

@@NomadicBillyGoat I am planning to convert a trailer, and fine carpentry work is too difficult. I want to use xps to make the doors. The doors themselves do not hold structural strength, so they are very suitable for xps. The only thing that needs to be strengthened is the hinges, but it doesn't matter if door fail.
@NomadicBillyGoat
@NomadicBillyGoat 3 месяца назад
I agree. The xps foam will also keep the weight down as well. I'd just like to see how they perform while traveling. Good luck with your trailer build!

The foam board smell? I didn't really have much, but I'd say a few days up to a week.
