This is one of those times that being self-taught is a detriment. I had no idea this function was even available, so I’ve always just used control+F and then tabbed through the results. Having it show the results in a table will be very helpful. Saved this one and will definitely be trying it. Thank you!!!

Omg this was racking my brain for ages! The initial basic serch worked fine but the stsps after that werent! I went over and over then though "ill just keep following and see what happens" by the finzl step, it all worked!!! Over the moon!!!!
This is one of the most ingenius solutions made possible in Excel! Thanks! I'm trying to take it a step further. To be able to search on more than 1 keyword, just like the way an HTML search engine would work. I did some researching on the internet. I think you need to make it work by adding additional search boxes and link those search boxes to separate cells and add references to those separate cells into the one formula. But somehow I can't figure out how to make it work so I only get the results based on all multiple criteria.

Say you have a large table and only want to return a few of the columns? Say only last name + favorite cookie Maybe one from the beginning would be good. Making the 2 tables and all. Can we COMBINE Multiple words in the search bar when typing the text? like for example --- Search - Kevin Chocolate :) THen returns value in the table that matches those.

I only used Find button in the ribbon if I want to find something. It can cover the who tabulation names. However it is cool to know that it is possible to do the same thing in a different way

@@justingill9822 I would try something like this. As you type in your filter query, the results display. Test the cells for the search string. Make a list of the UNIQUE values in a table that match the query. Make the list available in the dropdown list. I can't flesh it out any more than this as my excel doesn't even have the FILTER fn and googlesheets doesn't allow the use of the textbox like this. Hope this gives you a clue. I know you can make dynamic values, maybe you need one of those in the VBA

Hi Kevin, the tutorial video is really helpful. I also tried creating a searh box. But in the search results links provided in the actual table are not getting copied/appeared. I wonder is it possible to make it that way. I want make search box for a list of sites with the liks attached to the cells in the reference table.

I love your videos. Several of them have answered questions I couldn't get answered otherwise. I do have one question though. I used your search tool from "How to Build Search Box in Excel" and it works great with one exception. When the data source has some unique formatting (colored text or bolded text or other stuff like that) is only copies over the raw text, no formatting. Is there a way to keep the formating?
HI Kevin, in the case of a long string of text in a column with up 10-12 words, how would you modify the search box to show results that containtmultiple words in it? Say if we have cells that contain Name+CIty+Cookie+Age etc., find all matches that contain both of the words Chocolate and 13, to see all people that are 13 and like chocolate cookies. This is for a case, where multiple conditions (in this case partial matches for multiple words) have to be met. Hope you get time to answer this, would be very helpful. Thank you in advance.

Hi Kevin. I love this search box, but i had one problem when a tried to apply in my tables. The result not contain different in upper and lower cases (If data is written as ORANGE, the result not find if I type Orange in the SearchBox). How can I fix it?

Kevin I followed everything you did, but when I type in my search box nothing shows up until I click on another cell then it will show what I type in the cell behind the box. Is there something in the property I need to change ?
