Yo, what up guys,
It's Mike again and today we'r going to be doing some CHEST and we'll hittin' some "partial reps." Pay attention to this one today, it's routines just like this one that will get you an advantage over those around you so that you can reach your goals FASTER and finally have the body you've been working so hard to get.
One thing I've noticed about myself, is that my shoulders are really strong and tend to take over when I'm doing my chest exercises and this causes my chest to not develop as fast as my shoulders and triceps!
- So doing these partial reps let's me focus on my chest and not allow my shoulders to take over.
0:40 "Partial Rep":
- When you're doing your chest press, for example, only come down until your arms are 90 degrees.
- Your chest is engaged all the way until your go beyond that 90 degree mark.
**It's going to feel weird at first, like you're only doing half a rep, but the whole point is to teach your chest how to contract during this movement. So keep it up and I promise you'll see results!
Workout Breakdown:
Warm-up / 5 Exercises / 3 - 4 Sets / 10 - 12 Reps of Each / Minimal Rest Time
1) Warm-up: 10 - 15
2) Incline Dumbbell Press (4 Sets)
3) Incline Bench Press (4 Sets)
4) Flat Dumbbell Presses (3 Sets)
5) Lying Cable Flys (4 Sets)
6) Dips (30 Total)
You Ready for this? Remember to do partial reps with all of these... Lets do it!

2:22 Warm Up
- Your main goal here is focus on your chest firing.
- Don't worry about weight, just form!
3:42 Incline Dumbbell Press
- Start off with a light weight, you need to train your muscles how to contract in this way without your other muscles doing all the work.
6:00 Incline Barbell Press
- You want to look good for the ladies, right?
- Well how many ladies do you know who care how MUCH weight you actually lift? It's all about building muscle and looking good baby! So start lifting the right way with good form.
7:36 Flat Dumbbell Press
- Till failure! That's what I'm talking about!
8:56 Lying Cable Flys
- Last set, let's do a drop set!
12:31 30 Dips
- Finish strong on this one, it's not easy!
- Break it onto 3 sets of 10 - that's what I did.
There you go guys - Partial rep chest day is complete! What did you think of this one? The best part of this one for me is that I barely feel shoulders, I maybe got a little shoulders with the dips at the end, but that was it!

I'm glad he finally acknowledged annoying fucks who couldn't tell the difference between a power lifter and a body builder, he's in it to burn fat and gain muscle and look jacked, power lifting is not the same AT ALL, and power lifters can put up more weight but where does that get them in the end besides the number they can put up and not nearly being as ripped, i've been going to the gym for 3 years now, I follow this guy because he is natural and he's not in it for the weight he does it correctly and he's really been pushing that lately, glad to see how much bigger he's got in the past year, Keep it up Mike! Fuck anyone who for some odd reason can't see the success you've had doing what you do in the gym and now your profession, you are the #1 trainer on RU-vid for a reason.

Lol so your idea to help novices build up a weak chest is partial reps, okay that's pretty good advice, until I see you're doing the top part?? Why would you give beginnings such false advice? Training the top half of your bench is using your shoulders and triceps, the exact same muscles you've just told them they need to stop over using? Anyone watching this who believes their chest is the weak link in their bench, do paused reps, spoto press, or partials but the bottom half not the top. Think about it this way, why do you floor press? To train your lock out, what locks out the bench? Triceps. If you really are a true beginner, then all you need is progressive overload on the bench. Of course I wouldn't expect anything less from non informed Mike

I agree he is using mostly triceps in those partial reps. He needs to bring it deep onto the chest and press only half way up then lower if he actually wants to activate the chest.

Personally I don't ever follow this guy's advice. However I do get on to read the comments but I do have a question to anyone who can answer me. I was wondering about work outs. The thing is I have a lot of things going on right now and have had less time to work out. What I usually do is arms and abs one day, and back and legs the next day for 5 days a week(have been doing this for about 2 months). I was wondering if it is a good idea to separate the work out and do one muscle group in the morning and then another muscle group towards night time instead of doing them all together.

I would suggest spreading the muscle groups out abit more, for example Monday do arms, biceps in the morning chest in the evening. Tuesday do triceps and shoulders, Wednesday legs, etc.

No, just keep good form and suitable reps. Also do not train the same muscle group consecutively and never have more than 48 hours rest as after 48 hours the muscles start to depart. Which could mean you will lose 6 weeks of working out in a matter of hours.

hey guys i need some help i am 17 years old and i want to lose weight before christmas I'm 5 foot 11 inches and 210 pounds. i mostly have love handles and man boobs. What excerises other than t25 should i do? Also the most difficult thing in my opinion is what should i eat i don't have a job to buy my products and my mother is not a chef we mostly eat heavy foods with tortillas as i am a mexican. please advice me what should i eat and take to school to eat during lunch to lose weight but not pass out thanks guys

Ask your mom to buy some tuna and eat whatever veggies you have in your house and walk an hour a day, that should make you start losing

The only thing you have to do is intermittent fasting, that is when you fast for 16 to 18 hours and get your meal in after for example you just eat from 4:00pm to 9:00pm but you have to work out after you have fasted. In this case you would fast for 19 hours. You will feel tired and weak for the first 3 days but then the "fat" will just melt off. I am doing this and I used to weigh 175 lbs and after a month I am at 144 lbs and I feel great. You can eat the same thing just cut back on it. Like instead of 4 tortillas only have 3 and then after a week only 2 but you don't have to stop eating. I hope this helps...

You need lots of nutritional foods like eggs, meat, vegetables and fruits. What's making you fat is sugar, processed fats and grains (bread, cereals, pasta), the later being the toughie to crack.

Maaan mike just wants to help people get big, he may be a lil misguided but hes still making good gains with every video. Why does everybody hate on him, the only thing ive EVER seen him sell is his shaving kit. The Free book thing is a pitch, that he has to say "check this out" and amazon or whoever pays him to say that to his fans, thats not selling thats just advertising. Wheres the sell out? For the people saying he's on steroids.. he'd be 10 times bigger than he is right now & he's been working out for about 10 years which is how he got his body, if he were on steroids he'd show the symptoms of it like acne, enlarged head, rage etc

I'm not sure I get what he's saying here. It sounds like he's saying to do partials by not going all the way down. It seems like if you want to focus on chest you would do just the opposite. You would start from the bottom and not go all the way up with your partial. I have the exact opposite problem from what he is talking about though. My chest is way stronger than my tris and I can lift a lot of weight starting down in a chest press just up to the point where the triceps would take over, then I've got nothing. For that I've been working on dumbbells one arm at a time to self spot focusing on the higher range of the move to hit triceps more. (plus kickbacks and skull crushers).

I'd suggest doing dips man, I had the same problem until and started properly training my triceps and dips are what got me there.

Mike seems to have been getting some really noticable gains last months, awesome progress! I've had a NAGGING shoulder "thing" for WEEKS now. I have mobility in it and I have full range of motion so it's not a torn rotator cuff. I can do military press and shoulder exercises without too much pain,......But bench press is KILLING ME !!!!!!! I have long arms so hitting the chest seems to really tax my shoulder. I'm really focusing on form, squeezing the blades, arching the back, leg drive, etc...... So I was wandering if the partial reps would be good for a while to get over this should thing???????

there you said it! use weights as tools guys. why striking own ego like "i can lift more than he does" sth like that? if you are that good, go and post your own video lifting oxen or something. If you are strong enough to criticize mike's video(or any other's), why watching his when you are already that good? I really like this one, just did this at home and the increased weights/dumbells i have been using for a couple of months now, feel heavier with this lower speed and partial take on the exercises, and the pump is crazy, feeling my chestmuscles fatiqueing even now when typing on my keyboard haha :-)

***** I'm 14 and have been bench pressing for about 6 months now. I've noticed that when it comes to a straight bar bench press a good way to really hit my chest hard, is to lower the bar so it touches my stomach below my nipples. I find that a lot less shoulders get involved and if you keep a wide grip triceps aren't really used at all. I don't know if thats just me but give it a try if you see this and maybe make a video on it. Either way, great videos, really seeing my gains coming through. Keep it up thanks 👍

That's gotta be scary in not having a spot. One of the main reasons why I don't go heaver weights or go for that "extra" rep or set when I'm by myself benching. =( Good vid though.

Back to the real Mike, that's more like it. Power lifters though just care about pure strength, not how they look. Although it does show when you have that much strength and a heavy frame (genetics).

Truly great philosophy. My goal is to reach 90 kilos until Christmas, and 15 % bodyfat. Not to bench press 100 kilos. They are both goals, but for me the weight is more important. You almost always go to the gym alone, exempt when you need spotting, but still your body is the first thing that people will see anyways. Regards, A lift´n swede

Hey Mike, I broke my ankle about 8 months ago and a couple weeks later I sprained my shoulder and the other day I started lifting with my football team and I was watching myself and I noticed that I am favoring my broken ankle a lot and I have no idea how to fix it and if you have tips for me or anyone else that needs that kind of help that would be great thank you.

the whole spiel on using weights as a tool means a lot to me. I started lifting 4 months ago with great results especialy been able to increase how much i can lift, but damn It meant a lot when you said to use the right weights to make sure I'm developing the muscle

This guy is ripped, not healthy, theres a big difference, his chest is shut down and over worked his pecks do't have there full range of motion, all he's doing is putting extra pressure on his internal organs by building a excess of scar tissue on his muscle mass,rather than reducing resistance he is increasing resistance within his body; making each movement more and more difficult rather than relaxing and letting the muscles do there job of absorbing shock. Also being a meat head will not get you all the ladies, tight abs only mean your core is tight and ripped, you don't want ripped abs, the abs are a breathing muscle, so obviously ripping them or over working them in any way is a bad idea. If your abs are tight and do not move seamlessly with your breath than you are simply spilling your guts. yes your spilling your guts if you thoughtlessly work out, a hernia is not necessarily intestine popping out your abs rather, a hernia can happen any where around the core, the intestine can even be squeezed up in to your chest cavity from working out to much or it can pop out your side and still remain under the skin, it is just where ever your muscles do not hold your core in place, they can be vague and hard to spot but there extremely common in people who work out at all.

I don't know if English is your first language (if it is you might want to take some elementary English and grammar classes) but nonetheless you sound like you know nothing about weightlifting nor basic human anatomy
