In this video i give my take on the best and strangest way to install floating shelves in your home. On this episode we install floating shelves on a tile wall. A tile kitchen backsplash in fact!
I have my laptop volume cranked, and the audio is just a whisper that is almost inaudible. I recommend gaining an understanding of using volume levels in your video editor, because I get the sense this could be a really useful channel as you build it.
I can't make out the narration (if any?) How did you assure that the holes into the walls were perpendicular? (Portable drilling jig?) How did you anchor the bolts to the framing and then to the shelves? (Epoxy?) What diameter bolts? (1/2")
The 1/2 rods we used were just bolts with the heads cut off so the threaded end is what we drove into the stud in the wall. We do sometimes used PL or liquid nails to secure them if needed. We used a level afterwards to make sure they were perpendicular to the wall like you mention. You do want to keep the rod at a slight pitch tho so the weight of the shelf begins it down just perfectly level. Great questions! I appreciate it. alot of the little details I overlook bc it’s second nature after doing so many of them!
