Today you get to watch me show you how NOT to make custom GPIO boards for your Flipper Zero!! I make so many mistakes that I honestly considered not releasing the video, but hey, I know you all like watching me struggle!! I still think its funny to watch me make mistake after mistake, but in the end, it all works out!!

Im still running original firmware and api mismatches everytime I update on q flipper it makes me have reinstall everything. Is there a better way? I noticed after reinstalling some things they were updated or ran better with less furihal crashes.

I wish you could explain more things like what these boards do and how to read pin out and understanding what these things mean for example tx and rx and what those things mean and what they do and how those two chips interact or how/why they are on the same board you are making. Or why there are two different sides one with less pins and one with more on the flipper and why some are connected to that but only on the smaller chip u used. How these things interact with the software or how to even know what is possible and all sorts of things. If anyone has any resources for this stuff I would greatly appreciate that. I haven't looked at the flipper docs for gpio I'm sure that is a good place to start but a video on all the things i mentioned and things like that would be so amazing.

@TalkingSasquach
@TalkingSasquach Год назад
My NRF24's only use 3v3 so in that case no. Some ESP32's do have 5v and then you just need to enable 5v in the GPIO settings on the Flipper. 3v3 is always active so that's why I use it, it's just easier.

If you use these 90 degree headers like this then it will not fit in the flipper, You will need to file down the edge almost upto the lower pin holes, The black plastic anchors need to be flush with the board or prominent otherwise it will not fit. Some 90 degree headers have the plastic anchoron the long side wich will be fine, yet i have never found any like this. The other important thing is to install the components on the nearside so you can see them and no one else can as that would be very suspicious. The default is to Have the GPIO pins on the back of the board, From Left to right you have 8 Connectors and on the right you have 10. Apart from keeping an eye on your components and not making people suspicious of what you are upto is that the Board is Balanced in the middle. Other than that you always remember that the correct installment is with the pins to the back of the board and less damage to your GPIO connectors (They will get weaker over time.) I am not having a go and i make mistakes all of the time, I even do them on purpose to learn recovery from them. But it would be useful to add more details if you expect people to follow your projects and try to build them for themselves. This one actually confused me due to the changes with no explaination, parts, and bad links. I took time to work it out and it was still wrong. !

Don’t get certs for the sake of getting certs. Set your own goals on what you want to learn and keep focused, it’s a broad subject and easy to get overwhelmed. Make many mistakes and learn from them. Make it fun. Learn VM and setup Vulnerable Hubs to try your skills without breaking laws. Hope I’m still learning crazy skills at 58, kudos to you sir :)

I am a man of Age but i don't let that get in the way of learning or experiments. I find that i look a bit silly carying arround a device that looks like a kids toy. I would never use technology to do any harm but it is good to know and to be prepared. I am thinking of making some modules that i would like to share, but still learning. My question is... Does anyone know of a reasonable or cheaper way of creating covers or cases for the Modules ? The ones i see online are terrible and stick out like a sore thumb. It could be a cool idea for someone to make some money on this. Make a cool 3d printed model and have it factory moulded. The other cool thing would be to have a case made to include the modules and the Flipper Zero so it looks more like a phone than a toy. Even if it is a bit clunky !. I use the HackRF and no one bats an eyelid even when i have a large antenna connected but when they see a small toy like with orange buttons they can't help but to ask why i play with it.

There is no interface for any of this, so you'd need to try to figure out how to fit it all inside the Flipper, which will be nearly impossible unless you want to design your own, much larger case

Hiya, Please could you tell me what components where used in this build ? The Amazon link is out of date. BTW, It is good to make mistakes and better to learn them along the way. Myself i am super careful when i repair electronics for my friends and customers that i complete the job to my complete satisfaction and the device fails.... Only to realise i didn't plug it in maaaa. With my own gadgets i do the reverse and deliberatly create a fault to learn how to recover from it as it teaches oneself how to be better and more understanding of things. Sometimes making mistakes is far better than making none. The other thing is that it shows honesty. I love your Videos. I am a total Gadgeteer probably like yourself. Is there any chance you could make some more on Development projects for the Flipper Zero, HackRF One / Portapack etc. If anyone else could contribute then i think that would be great. I am into GPIO, Arduino, Raspberry Pi etc and compulsive buyer of modules but no good at programming and i think i have too many pokers in the fire as in projects half to nearly done to occupy my time. I am also into Bushcraft, Electronic Crafts and all other survival crafts should we have a WorldWar 5 lol
