How To BUILD Your Poker BANKROLL To $100,000!

I get many questions from my poker students about how best to build their poker bankroll. In today’s live webinar I will walk you through the steps that you need to turn your bankroll into $100,000 in today’s poker climate.
It takes a lot of hard work and dedication. Poker is not a get rich quick scheme and all of the top poker professionals have put in hours of study and playing to be at the top of the game.
With poker solvers the game has become tougher than it has ever been before so it is extremely important to make sure you are playing in poker games that you are a favorite in. One of my best pieces of advice is to find a game that you beat and just keep playing that! That could be in cash games or tournaments but remember that poker tournaments will have a higher variance than poker cash games.
As a professional poker player, I need to be able to consistently focus throughout the day. I used to drink a lot of coffee to help with focus, but it would inevitably lead to a crash. Then, I discovered BRÈINFÚEL.
It combines everything you need including natural caffeine, MTC oil, vitamin C, vitamin E and collagen to give long lasting energy in a healthy way that allows you to focus your best all day long.
You can get 15% off at breinfuel.com/... and by using code POKERCOACHING.

These free RU-vid lectures are a gold mine. Thank you so much for posting all of this knowledge knowing full well that’s it’s just the tip of the iceberg. Every video I watch I realize how little I know about Texas Hold em meta. I currently play tournaments (15k 500+ players fake money pokerstars) fairly well and get into the money rounds quite often. I think I’m competent enough playing as a TAG in the early and middle rounds while making most of my money playing exploitatively. I try and play in position as much as possible and 3 bet a wider range to punish limpers and nits. The goal is to induce folds and isolate players pre flop. If it works I C bet on the flop and donk River (usually) If the pot goes multi way with many callers of the 3 bet I float unless I hit. Usually avoiding flop C bets, calling C bets and reevaluating on turn. My fave exploitative play is folds to me on the button or SB and I just 4 bet to steal blinds away from SB and BB. That fold rate is insane! Got called once and I simply folded as the hand was a bluff. Now I’m really appreciating the value of GTO as I get stuck in some positions where there isn’t a clear exploitative play/ hand to move with and the callers get sticky and aggressive. I find also that eventually some players catch on to me as I’m a 3 trick pony so I revert to just playing tighter and in position. This strategy works for tournaments as everyone is shallow stacked, plays either too wide or too tight. But I struggle playing deep stacked and learned from you that the play is completely different. Playing too wide with 3 bets preflop and too much wide C betting results in me printing money for the villains. All in all thank you!

I mean they have got a point though. Just because somebody has a different opinion doesn’t mean they are hating, stop being sensitive. If he could make that kind of money, he wouldn’t have made these videos. It is like selling shovels to the goldmines. Maybe he figured he could make way more money and stable at that by making videos and courses. As an example, my brother risked it all to make a video game, but figured that making courses about game development made him far more money with literally no risk and huge returns. Having said that, Jonathan is a beast at teaching and is one of the best in this niche, if not the best.

Being ready for variance and managing your roll properly is essential. I’m beating my stake at about 10-11BB/100 but don’t buy in bigger than 1/100th of my roll. These big tournaments can end so fast when the lunatics decide to jam their trash and you get 10-20%’d for your stack holding AA. Typically you double, but you’ve gotta be buying in properly to account for when you don’t.

Thanks for the content. Winning 1 % of your bankroll is quite a challenge while keeping a propper bankroll. For example. With a br of 1000 you can maybe play 25nl (is already over the border in my opinion). You have to win 40 bb per hour. Playing 400 hands per hour (which are 5 tables) you need a winrate above 10BB/100 hands inclusive rake removal. Although I studied quite a lot and hardcore table select I am only making 2 BB/100 on 25nl. But maybe better players can do it. Started 3 years ago with 50 dollars and currently at 3700 (slowly grinding it up). Playing 1000 hands per day (2 hours 6 tabling) and studying also 1-2 hours a day. Have a 36 hour job and two kids, so this is approaching the max to keep a balanced live (also exercise and meditate on daily basis.

I often over looked your videos.. Now you have caught and kept my attention because this is probably the greatest wisdom and strategy to get there. I have struggled with variance over the last 2 years. Always winning preflop and getting sucked out more than 70 percent..for example going all in with 6d 6h vs AQ suited. Or I have AA all in vs 55. Orunable to extract max value from flopped flushes or turned boats.. This video makes me want to do exactly your 100k bankroll challenge
@knpstrr
@knpstrr Год назад
Going all-in preflop too much maybe? 66 vs AQ is basically 50/50 for example. Harder to get away from AA than AQ, you may just lose the AA one, but should be able to get away from the AQ

@@fernandostudebaker5861 Yes, but by basically I meant about 50/50. Also pot size comes into play. If you have a 66% chance to win, but by chance, the times you win the pots are smaller than the times you lose, your overall $ won may still be negative, even though you actually won 66% of the time.

Dude if you make 1 dollar an hour at micro or small stakes, you will also pay 1 dollar rake an hour, making you breakeven at best, if you don't have rakeback... the variance is never low, even if you are a winning player you can still experience 30-100 buy-in downswing... the only realistic way of making 100k is playing middle stakes, which will require you to have 20k or 40k bankroll... and you need to be very good and running super hot for very long time... so forget about starting with 100 to make 100k, that has 0.1 chance of happening... in the past some people grinded the limits, taking shots and doubling up their bankroll... but those were times there were hundreds of thousands of players online who had no clue about the game... like I knew a guy who lost 50k only playing 10 dollar buy in games in a few years!!! Today you sit at 2 or 5 dollar games and you take 200bbs and people already sit out and leave the table... the game dried up... nobody wants to lose in poker anymore... the gamblers are playing other less stressful games, like slots... cause you just need to click buttons and don't need to think... why would they play poker, if they are only counting on luck? For majority of all players, including the good ones, poker is not worth it anymore...
@McRuffin

You say not to spend your bankroll. But do you think it is a reasonable decision to spend your bankroll on poker related expenses? e.g. you grind it up and then buy your pokercoaching membership from your bankroll. or more my case, I don't have great local options and online isn't an option. So, I go to Vegas. My plan is to pay for the trip out of the bankroll (as soon as the gains outstrip the losses) Or perhaps I should play locally, but I should deduct gas. That way I know if my play is actually profitable and not just profitable at the actual table.
@mig7290
@mig7290 Год назад
I'd buy the membership from your bank account. You probably need it to be able to beat the games even if you once did. If your local games are soft and close by then maybe it's better to use them for building and Vegas for taking shots every so often. If the gas cost equals a Vegas trip though maybe Vegas is better.. Hopefully someone else will advise too.

When it says from 100 to 100,000 in half a year thats not realistic. Going X2 your bankroll from 50,000 to 100,000 in the example playing 100 hours would need a winrate of 500 an hour. Where would you find a winrate of 500 an hour? You'd have to play 25/50 and put up like 5-10K at a minimum which is way outside of bankroll management for a 50K bankroll. For say 25K to 50K thats also unrealistic where you going to find games winning 250 an hour where a 25K bankroll is appropriate?

What percentage of your bankroll should you use to take a shot at bigger stakes? For example, I’d need to have $45,000 or more to have a bankroll to play 2/5 Max $1500 buy-in. Should I be taking a shot at 2/5 once I get my bankroll over $15,000?
@pillcosby6569

If you have the skill set, you can play once you have about 11 to 13k. Whatever makes you comfy. When I had 15k, I had a 10k stop loss (about 14 $700 buy ins) and told myself I will go back to 1/3 with the 5k (I have a job). Remember, you can buy in for 500 and still be 100bigs deep. Seriously, if you know how to fold, move up. There are some terrible players POST FLOP at 2/5. Aren't you tired of all the limp, over callers at 1/3 anyways?lol the ones at 2/5 will whale it to you.

2/5 is easier to play than 1/3 if you have poker math knowledge but you also need people reading skills. At 2/5 most people play properly not like 1/3 which is like semi limit games where everyone calls or everyone folds at 2/5 you can control how many people call with the bet sizing. @@nicshy9074 You need to learn to play with deeper stacks. It's just not the same game when you have 200+ big blinds. With strong preflop hand selection you are much more likely a money favorite in lower stack games than when you still have a lot of chips behind after the flop. The larger the stacks the more complex the game becomes because implied odds are better and there are just more options available. If it's all in there is no counter play. When there are still a lot of chips behind there is room for floating the flop or turn or raising any street as a bluff or value or 3 betting or 4 betting or even 5 betting if the stacks are deep enough. It becomes exponentially more complex the deeper the stacks are.
