Tig welding is not easy. Mig welding will work just as well. If converting the flat car to passenger car I would recommend gmaw welding and stronger then both tig or mig.
I’m building a Kozo A3, caboose from the Jackman plans on dls, and a PSC Reefer. I have always been wary of using shoulder bolts with trucks. My fear is that they would work loose over time. Is this a thing or am I overthinking it? You know ILS is like an hour away from me and I’ve never been there. Maybe I should make this the year.
We’ve been using that method for 30 years on our equipment and haven’t had any issues. You need to use loctite threadlocker though. If you are a hobbyist, you are welcome to visit the ILS’s anniversary meet this August 16-18. No registration or fees and we have 10+ vendors confirmed for the meet.
Well, when you build one you can finish it however you’d like. Those graphics will hold up ten times better than paint masking…and it would be absolutely foolish to risk paint runs on a finished body to use them.
