That Prodigy is a great first or second boat for a child. The Epic V5 poly surfski is great for bigger children and small adults who want to go faster. Even the Wave by Lifetime is designed by Tim Niemier and is a good first boat for a really small child. I hope they sell air bags with all the boats that don't have bulkheads. The big box stores don't even know what flotation bags are.
I picked up a perception sporty 9.5 from a friend and was debating if it was good for my kiddo. This video was very helpful. Guess it's time to set it up for fishing for him
Great video! I hate to admit it, but I have the Lifetime Wave! I bought it used for $20, duct tape included. It's great for first time small children to play on ponds and slow, running rivers. I wouldn't pay $150 for it, as it's more of a toy than a kayak.
Be sure to get a kayak with a great seat and plenty of support. You should go to a demo day to try out the different models. I had to add lumbar support to my kayak seat - that comes with others.
