As a person who lived most of my life in Missouri, I must say, I love this girl's accent.

I valued restaurants because I can get food that I couldn’t make at home. But I have invested time and effort in learning how to make those complicated Thai or Indian dishes at home so I can enjoy that food more often without having to spend money going out. Plus it is satisfying to spend the time and then enjoy the dish I made.

Oh that's awesome! Good for you Shayna. I would love to invest the time and learn how to make more complex food as well. I think that's a great idea and cool to see that main value of spending time and enjoying the dish you made (and feel proud of) coming out. Thanks for sharing.

I totally agree. We drove 800 kms for a favourite dish at the Forks In Winnipeg during vacation. Later We found the recipe online by the same chef and now enjoy it more often. Plus it’s an event to source the ingredients and create the dish! A special thing that makes it feel like an event.

Yeah I want to learn some of the dishes that I ate in Cambodia next! 🇰🇭

I was rewarding myself with Chick-fil-a once a week - the the YNAB re-set challenge happened to start this new year. And I cut out that expense. Haven’t “rewarded” myself yet. As you mentioned, I no longer have that “habit”. I don’t really miss it.

Love this. Amazing what you realize you don't really need once you've gone without it for a bit!

I’m the handbag girl. I love luxury handbags. I cut ruthlessly on groceries, eating out, shopping, etc, just to get my the handbags. And I always do this when I want a new one. We’re willing to drive old cars. but live in a great location. No regrets.

Love it! We’re big on bags over here too. I 100% get that. Drive a 2001 truck but spend $500 on a backpack. Appreciate you watching!

Great way to break down budgeting. It all about your priorities & values.

Too sure! once you see where else your money could be going it's changes the mind-frame on "budgeting" all together. I look at it as "spending performance" like athletes who monitor their on field performance. I review it, then I tweak it to bring me more joy next month :)

I was cringing at the amount of money we/I was spending on alcohol. I did a 28 day Infinite Abundance challenge at Christmas 2021 and broke that habit. I want to stay with that as my ultimate goal does not involve alcohol but freedom.

Love this Sandra. It's so easy to do that, but I'm really glad to hear that you're focusing on an alcohol free future.

So true! Travel is important to me (although not at the moment (covid-19)), but furniture or cars are not as important to me.

haha, definitely no travel right now, but yes, it's all about figuring out what you want and prioritizing that. Period.

Great video guys! We like to budget our money so that we can go out to eat. We love trying new food, but because of that we eat cheap at home most of the week. And we almost never go shopping for new "things" (helps when you don't have any room in an RV 😁), so that saves us a ton. Anywho, love your vids and money saving tips!!
@mappedoutmoney
@mappedoutmoney 4 года назад
haha, totally feel that! We enjoy going out as well, especially for the atmosphere and for trying new places on our travels. And yes, new "things" are hard to come by in the RV for sure :)

Loved the video both!!! I also loved Ramit book! Like I said in a comment below, I think of budgeting as "Spending Performance" the same way an athlete analyses on field performance. I review each month, make minor tweaks to bring more joy and try have a better month next time. Doesn't always work :) but it brings my spending into my zone of awareness on a daily basis which in turn helps me make better decisions each month!!!
@mappedoutmoney

Love that analogy Patrick! The idea of spending performance is super smart and definitely brings you into a good zone of awareness. Appreciate you sharing that, and thanks for watching!

hi guys! it's to bad budgeting has such a negative association. it has help us reach some incredible goals and done some amazing things.i think the way you laid it out should really be helpful. i would say try it for at least 3 months and see if you haven't learned something and maybe even have more money than you thought.
@mappedoutmoney
@mappedoutmoney 4 года назад
Bingo! I feel the same way Kari. I hate that budgeting has such a negative connotation. You're spot on, budgeting helps you achieve the goals you care the most about :) Love your advice. Thanks for stopping by as always!

Amazing video Nick! I Will Teach You To Be Rich is an amazing book. Years ago, as a 15 year old, the process of reading that book made me research and learn a lot about finances, customer service negotiation, how credit cards work, and how to avoid bad debt. It's the initial push needed for learning a lot of more complex stuff. I'm still waiting for a Nick True book review, book club, whatever you want to call it. But focused on finance, business and self-development!

Yup - my time in Mexico, where I rent for less than $400 CAD/month, is giving me SO MUCH more pleasure than spending $2400 on my mortgage in my new condo in Toronto! I see a big change coming...

GEOGRAPHIC ARBITRAGE! love it. we are looking to do the same with Poland in the future. How much is total cost of living all in in Mexico? Bet it's less than Toronto rent! We are from TO and live in London - Current rent £2400, that would pay for a cushy lifestyle in Poland!
