If Copart didn't "fee" you to death then it might be worth looking into. I think I'll pass as there are just too many "out-the-door" fees to deal with. Still a very good video Randy.

Don't forget you have to pay auction fees that can add $200-$2000 to the price. So buying a $2000 you will end up paying $2650 out of the door. Another thing, cars can sit in the lot for months the battery is most likely dead, bring a new battery and some tools when inspecting or picking up. You will need them 100% guaranteed. If the car is too far for you to inspect, there are inspection services offered but they are basic not like a shop inspection.

As I'm in a green state, AZ, it appears pretty simple. I have many things to check about buy-sell laws. I'll check the Copart to see if they have a local auction. Also need to see if my mechanic buddies want to joint venture to effort. The video was good...but I would edit and speak more slowly. Viewthrough stats are important on YT but anyone needing this tutorial will be happy to spend a few minutes longer. Classes take time.. (Sorry for the long comment.)

Key tip. Pay with a secured payment type to avoid fees. E.g. cashiers check rather than a personal check. They dont accept cash. Sometimes it's cheaper to go with a broker even in green states. Brokers charge you fees but they sit on top of lower copart fees. Also they take care if title transfers for you and can be a transport middleman for a better price on shipping.

As a precautionary tale, look at randy's flooded srx, it's not all roses buying hit , salvage,repairable, or even clean title cars from copart/iaai, there is a reason why they are there. People get screwed via copart/iaai with flipped cars other buyers buy, get running and push it back through without doing squat, cobbled together wrecks that look good from 10 ft away, bad delivery drivers, outrageous fee's once you go through a broker, expensive shipping costs and storage fee's if you don't pickup your car in 3-5 days @ $30-50/day after the last grace day for pickup. Been there done that for many years, the car business is a cess pool and a lot of crummy bastards out there looking to take you for a ride, and the salvage car industry is no exception, but more the norm of the above bum's.

Peddle is great. I got 650 dollars towed away for an old car that I didn't even want to get bother running. Granted, it was rare, but it wasn't in good shape. They sold it to copart.

IMO, this is an excellent overview of how Copart works. I’m really glad I watched it.

I was the winning high bid on an 'on approval' sale last week at $2750. The next day the seller countered for $5700! I went up to $2800. They countered at $5600. I held steady and they rejected. They put the car back up at my last $2800 bid and no one even bid on the thing. They had to relist it. When it went back to auction the high bid was $1700...AND THEY SOLD IT??!! How did they accept an offer that was $1100 lower than mine? Doesn't make sense.

This is the way we do it in Australia all cars are all sold with title, when you bid if the reserve is not met they don't take your money, you call them and ask price, if you accept the price you get it and they take out your deposit or you can make an offer, the cars are sold either "statutory written off" yellow sticker, never can be registered only for parts, "Repairable damage" blue sticker which means you can repair and go through the process to get it registered, vehicles over 15 years old are sold as is you can repair them and have one inspection which must pass strict road regulations to be registered they only have a short description of damage, inspections are highly recommended, will have on the windscreen N/K for no key otherwise a key is in the office, no vehicles are started, can be started, they do not allow any vehicles to be started or the key to leave the office, its you inspect and make your judgement. vehicles can only be towed out of the lot, we have a far better system, The people at Copart must be on ice to come up with a system full of mumbo jumbo crazy nonsense .

"go inspect for yourself". Truer words have not been spoken. I went to the China Grove yard today. A fiesta listed as Run and Drive with undercarriage damage didn't move when I put it in gear. The transmission was fried. I have bought 2 cars from there. Both I inspected several times before bidding and both were winner cars. The person who bid 500 on that fiesta is in trouble...

Beware-In Texas, State Farm brands their Flood Salvage vehicles as 'Non-Repairable', regardless of actual condition. This means that vehicle is Parts Only and cannot be put back on the streets. Make sure your Flood Salvage vehicle does not have this branding.

Nice video, I've been dealing with Copart for a while now, so I just printed off the chart with the member fee schedule as well as the gate + internet bid fees, and I have it next to me as I'm bidding so that I know what my final "Out the Door" price will be. While I think you did a great job with the video, I might would have added the fee schedule so that those who are unfamiliar with Copart would have a heads up and not be shocked by the final price. You and I both know that the price you bid is not the price you pay.

I joined copart and then canceled my membership. What a scam system. From the state laws and licensing, to the ridiculous fee's you get hit with from the auction sites. The whole thing is nothing but a scam.

Since RU-vidrs discovered and ruined AAA and Copart nothing’s worth it. I use to buy from these sites all the time. Now so many people over bid on this site you over pay and ruin all deals. Back in 2016 you use to buy cars for half price. Today you pay what they are worth. Especially since they raised the fees and taxes at these auctions due to popularity.

That was good info. Can you do fees info? Tax, coparts fees and % of the bids. Az copart charge for every little thing. They even charge you to get your good running car out to the parking lot.

The Copart near me has one review. Guy bought a trailer, despite pictures they posted it was missing wheels when he showed up to pick up, he complained, they said tough shit, not their problem. Don’t think I’ll be taking that chance.

What about when they say pure sale but change it? It happened twice to my grandfather and a friend. They won a pure sale but the listing was changed afterwards and the seller counter offered. Theres videos on RU-vid about it happening alot. Copart wouldnt honor the pure sale and they had no choice but to accept the counter offer or lose the listing. They both let them go.

When buying a car, is the rule of having a broker license determined by the state you live in or by the state you're buying the car from? For instance, if I live in Pennsylvania and want to buy a car located in Georgia, do I go by the rules of Pennsylvania or Georgia?

I didn't hear him mention the ridiculous fees. They are like 20% throw in a broker you are at probably 30%. Most of these cars need repairs. So you do all the work and they suck up a huge piece of the margin, for doing very little. Also ZERO risk to them. Repair costs may end sucking up the last bit of margin. Net result? You may well end up paying full retail, or even more if it doesn't go right for a salvage vehicle that has no chance of selling for retail.

I bought a pedal car from copart. I did like you said you did with your Porsche contacted the owner in the garage that had all the paperwork in the vehicle. Didn’t have too many problems with it for a year had some repairs that I had to do before I was able to put it on the road but otherwise it was a decent vehicle.
