Option 1 is better and you really dont save time with crypto IRA because the rollover time is usually 2 to 4 weeks. So, you can do option 1 in 2 to 3 weeks

Yeah it's good for retirement, but I'll never sell my crypto. I'll just use it as collateral for a loan on blockfi at a low percentage instead of getting taxed 40% for selling it and losing almost half. And then when the blockfi loan is paid off I get the entire amount of my crypto back, no taxes.
There is a big risk involved getting a loan against your crypto as a collateral. When the price drops either you have to put more crypto as a collateral or face liquidation and lose all of your crypto in a short period of time. At a 70% LTV your loan enters a margin call.
This is low key going over some peoples heads but to the people who do this and actually invest wisely, this is how you build generational wealth! I’m about to max out for 2021 next week, got another year for 2022 😉

A self directed IRA sounds great for the low cap cryptos or for being able to trade cryptos 24/7 (if the directed IRA allows it). Otherwise, if you are trading the big boys like BTC and ETH, you can buy the equivalent in your normal ROTH via GBTC and ETHE for example. You would save time and fees this way, but you are limited to trading during stock trading hours.
If I already own crytpo can I transfer over into this Roth or do I have to create the Roth and buy within the roth? I don’t have any sort of Roth at all but I have stocks/crypto

So just for clarification purposes; when going the LLC route you are only paying to set up the LLC? After that you do not pay trading fees or any annual fees for having the IRA?
@@savoirfaire312 I think the LLC depends on where you live. Like in Idaho it looks like it's 100 for the filing fee and 0 annual but Indiana where I live it's like 90 filing and 30 every year.

Is it allowed to move the crypto into a cold storage or hardware wallet? I asked this because crypto exchanges have some risks in the long-term. Like hackers and liquidation.
Another company with the same product has the same annual fee. Seems like it might be this rate until more platforms offer it and it gets more competitive.

So if I buy and sell crypto in a directed IRA with this method , will I not owe taxes when changing from one currency to another or when selling Bitcoin for dollars?
Anyone who does not do this is crazy. Your crypto holdings may 100x over 5 or 10 years. And you will pay NO tax on that, vs paying $500k in tax. Because the gains in crypto are so much more (potentially) than in the stock market that getting in on the ROTH is 💥, a no brainer.

i don't understand why anyone would start a self directed IRA rolling over 2k from a savings account??? The fees will eat that up like crazy if you dont max out contributions every year.....Im guessing a self directed IRA only makes sense if you have more money than you know what to do with and you need a new bucket for all of it.

One would need to cash out and pay cap gains I assume but the remainder could be used for the backdoor Roth I assume? Gemini??? I don't want some centralized exchange holding my keys to my crypto. Not your keys not your crypto. When they go bankrupt or if they get hacked you lose everything which is happeningalot these days. I would like to have my own defi wallet like metamask. Is this an option?? I've had my crypto ROTH in iTrust Capital for 10 months. TOTAL cost is $30 per month, every month - no matter how large or small. BUY or SELL have 1% fee. No other charges. CONs are the limited # of cryptos + gold and silver; can't buy @ limit.
@@dmounts9999 similar for Choice by Kingdom Trust except they allow limit orders, though orders are only limited to 24hrs so somewhat useless. Also, their customer service is horrendous

Fidelity is telling me I can’t take the existing money from my traditional IRA to pay the taxes on my ROTH, they said I have to have the money for taxes on hand to pay at the end of the year. Are they telling the truth?
I think so. They are only allowed to deduct the penalty for an early distribution. IRS sets the rules for tax taken out early. But I’d call again and confirm 👍🏻
You can put $ 7000 in each yr if you are 50 yrs or older . Im hedging the volitilty of Crypto currencys with precious meteal since you can roll your profits in and out of each asset.
