I buy gold and silver mining stocks too in overseas market. Physical gold with tungsten mixed in it is available in abundance. Beware. Dont buy if the jeweler doesnt have electronic testing machine.

My point is buy gold from those who want to sell it post testing at selling price for that day. In this way you don't pay gst, ... also mmtc is atleast 700 to 800+ Rs extra per gram so that's why delivery is free highly recommend for first timers.

I've found that Bangalore Refinery bars (BRPL) are cheaper than any of the wholesalers. Especially for silver. The online purchases of the same from Amazon are actually cheaper than buying at BRPL rates+gst, as displayed on their website.

But still, I prefer to buy from my jeweller contact, coz it is to him that I'd sell later on. Developing a trusting relationship with the jeweller is important for these transactions.

ETFs are paper receipts backed by physical gold stored with a custodian in a vault. Tax treatment is different since its a paper asset.
