Please consider doing a video on pen servicability/repairability/reliability. One of the concerns with the more expensive brands is what if it gets damaged or clogged? Is it easy to repair on do we have to buy a new one? Especially a concern if you don’t live in a country where the brand offers servicing/replacements.
You are very welcome! I'm glad you found everything useful- when I bought my first 3D pen, I received it and immediately realized I had overlooked a certain feature. This video was to (hopefully) help others avoid that.
@@PotentPrintables well, I have similar story. I bought this "professional" 3D pen Sunlu SL-300A and turns out I completely disliked it. I have totally overlooked several features and was silly enough to not do my research before buying a product. Now I'm thinking about ditching it and getting my hands on RP900A or RP800A. Have you tried them btw? Oh, and I wanted to say that I love the physical illustrations on paper. They really add to the overall presentation.
I haven't tried the RP800A, but I have the Soyan PR026-3-US, which looks like either a direct knock off or rebranding of the RP800A. The Soyan PR026-3-US has a ton of features for its price. You can see that I have used it in many of my videos (and thumbnails, like the tutorial series). I'm guessing the RP800A would perform similarly. I haven't used or heard anything about the RP900A. Thanks for the feedback on the presentation style- I have kind of fallen into it and am glad that people like it.
Ahh I wish I had watched this prior to buying mine, that would have enhanced my 3d pen experience! Such a logical and nice approach and I love that you took the time to make a list too.
I own the tecboss SL-300, mostly because it was the cheapest option I saw in my country. It is great it has all the functions. One thing on this one is that it does have a Hold and release button but you have to double click for it. The scribbler v3 has a double click to Lock, this one is the other way around. Great guide!
If you want to change the Extrude Button Setup in your Shopping Guide - Full List, it's a hold and release type, where you can double-click for continuous feed. Thanks for the great video and shopping guides!
Great video brother :) just bought my first 3D pen and your channel helped alot with getting the basics down definitely deserve more subs with this great content Best of Luck :D
On the Tecboss, you can do a hold to extrude if you press and release then press in quick succession. The pen will extrude while the button is pressed, and stop when released. It takes some getting used to, but does work for those short bursts of extrusion.
I have the 3doodaler create + I love it it’s awesome I love making little animals it’s great because unlike clay it does not brake easily and I can use them as toys because it’s plastic
This is one of the only unbiased reviews for finding the best pen. You put way more effort than you needed too, which is awesome. If only people could make videos at this quality for other things besides 3D Pens...
That's a great video guide mate for beginners. I have some of them including rp800a, 3dsimo multipro, basic etc. The major advantage of rp800a and 3d simo multipro is the low diameter of nozzle which allows you to draw smaller details with better precision. So far multipro, and polaroid play are still working perfectly while on rp800a and some cheaper pens that i have they got broken nozzle or damaged motherboard. I always work with a pen for 15-20 minutes max as a precaution to extend its life
Thanks, appreciate it. That's good info about the nozzle diameters- I wish more 3D pen manufacturers posted that type of information online. The amount of specs posted varied greatly from pen to pen, which I wish wasn't the case.
@@PotentPrintables Yes every pen has its pros and cons (nozzle, motor speed, lifetime). I forgot to ask you how good is the scribbler v3 ? It looks very comfortable, and i know that 3d pens doesnt last forever eventually.
@3D Plastic Fantasy It is a very nice pen. The motor control of extrusion and retraction is among the best (if not the best) of the pens I have used, to date. I haven't used it to make anything large yet, but I will be using it in an upcoming video. So it will be interesting to see how it fairs through that.
@@davidare Yea sure its definitely a good choice, you have to be careful tho to take a break every 15 or 25 minutes max as a safety precaution because the plastics are heating up inside and the nozzle might break. Another pen you could look is the polaroid play, its the only pen that still works well since i bought it in 2017, but it doesn't have LCD display, nor temperature regulator and it only supports only pla plastic.
Thank you! That is an interesting question- taking a look at the pens I have, it seems like most of them would work for left handed people. The only thing that would change would be operating some of the buttons with your pointer finger vs thumb.
Where did the times go when they gave kids a hot glue gun and told them not to touch the tip. If they did they got burned, healed and lived happily on. Now everything has to be burn proof, drop proof, eat proof and much more. Kids are getting stupid and their parents are getting even more stupid by spoiling them. Than real life hits and they have no idea what to do. I remember me and my cousin using a chainsaw at the age of 5. We were barely able to hold in but we loved every moment of if. I was driving a garden tractor at the age of 4. Now what...? Everyone has to be 18 to do anything.
You got a very nice voice, that makes it very easy to watch your videos, even if i still don´t know which one would be the right 3D Pen to start with, just to much options to choose from, also all the different brands does not make the decision easier for me : )
The extrusion would be bulky with direct drive, so that is the big unknown Wanted standard nozzles, and an optional 6.5mm piano pedal for feed speed Hotend is also an unknown (could probably something small and cheap like a mosquito due to pla being the main plastic standard 1.75mm filament use a standard spool with spool holder (or perhaps make cuts) All cables swappable, perhaps remote "station" for feed info etc? I am semi new to this so feel free for experienced feedback/suggestions
This amount of information should be needed on EVERY F-ING product! Literally the BEST video I can find to help me find a gift for my girlfriend! Love you and hope this gets more views!
I was given a smart gear 3D pen as a holiday gift it worked great until it got slower and slower then it stopped working completely. The pen wouldn’t heat up or the motor won’t turn. It had no clogs. I can say it was a POS. These are much better in comparison. I’m looking for the most reliable 3D pen that won’t break or crap out after awhile. This video helped
I’m a twelve year old using the myth 3d I highly suggest it for preteens but please be careful the pen can get really hot so make sure to hold it a bit further up Edit: the pen dose have quite a funky smell when melting the plastic so if that’s a issue I whould not recommend the pen
I started with the cheap temu one. third time using it 🤦 Gear that feeds the pla to the heater slid up the shaft of the gear box. Fixed that with a plastic washer 😅 Only 3 speeds to get used to🤷
Very helpful. But a lot of the links, especially for the higher end ones on your spreadsheet, are no longer valid or amazon is out of stock. Could just be Christmas....
Thank you! My dad is thinking about buying me one and this video is very helpful🙂(btw u have a lot a views and not many likes, I think the viewers forgot to like)
5:43 my 3D pen actually has both of these things, i think it is really just necessary for the ones that want to try out 3D pens and see how they will do and if they want to continue.
I've been watching your video's all day. Can i ask what is your own personal go to pen, the one you pick up to use out of your many. Keep up the good work just subbed
I am coming back here after finding it really difficult to find the right pen as when I download the check lists, you mention things to look for. So last time I watched your video I gave up, as you talked about the best pens but I could not find out from video what pen brand or model name to order. So we just bought one from Best Buy which clogged and broke after 2 hours. Would like a high end pen that does not stop working. I really wish you had said which pen was the best for each category. My computer is slow and maybe you do say in one of the many links you provide to download. Have downloaded a number of links and cannot find specifics…. Just checklists of quality to look for. Can anyone tell me which pen he showed in the high end category that appears to have temp control and stop start control? The reddish orange one? Would love a brand and model name to order it. Other wise it is a shame, such a throughly detailed video…. but leave out the more important detail: name of pen to buy.
I must say that I wish you had made a link for the list that you had made with all the brands and the pros and cons. Or if you would have at least moved your hand out of the way so I could see the list.
I'm a 14 year old hoping to get the best pen I'm cautious and I dont realy need safety I know safety I want to use PLA my budget is up to $150 what should I get
Do you think my brother who is 12 would like this cuz I’m getting him a 3D pen for his birthday but not the ones that are safe because he can handle pain pretty well and I’m not sure if that would be the best idea .
Amazing! Ty. Question for you. I followed you link and Amazon doesn't see it. Do you have another recommendation that is close to the Soyan Pr026-3-us? Perhaps on Amazon?
@@PotentPrintables man... I was excited to get one and bought that exact one before you replied. The next time I ask a question.. I'll wait for the reply. For the record, I followed your notes and the video and chose that one right before you replied. Crazy. =) thanks for the help!
I got a "3d pen-2 Draw your dreams" for christmas and its very easy to use. It works well and I've been having loads of fun with it. I'm 13 and the pen works well for me :)
Just like many other shoppers, I am simply looking for your recommendation of the BEST PROFESSIONAL, and BEST CASUAL 3d printer. I wish you'd cover that and share your opinion.
I got the soyan one when I was like six. So I tried to read the instructions but ended up looking at the maintenance pamphlet so I accidentally messed up the wires so now I have to push the filament down for it to work.
I currently have a 3doodler create but my biggest complaint is that your stuck with using rods which are really expensive. What pen is out in the market that is still available that will accept reel filaments? Preferably 3mm just due to the amount I have currently. My process right now is to cut lengths from the reel, using a heat gun to straighten the pieces then cut it down to manageable sizes. I'm spending more than half my time making rods of filament as opposed to just having fun. I'm fine with going down in size if there is a reliable and advanced pen but I'm just having a hard time finding any detail around this. Any help is greatly appreciated
Based on my experience with the pens that I have, the Scribbler V3 has been great. Never had a clog with it and I have used it quite a bit. I have used it with TPU and works well for that also.
Potent Printables Mate I don’t have much money but interested in this technology and want professional pen, do you any sites where I can get cheap professional pen as reasonable cost.
Im in the market for a pen, while I can use it for artistic purposes I plan to use it for primarily for utilitarian things, repairing cracks in old toys, modding controller shells and cases, etc. Based on your video and my personal interests, I want a pen that uses the standard filaments (1.75 I think it was), hold to extrude, temperature control. I also prefer something likely to get left on a shelf for 3 years and still operate when I pick it up again, so an internal battery could be detrimental given their intended life spans. Im thinking the Scribbler V3 is my best option, any thoughts on this?
